23rd century (TOS) Environmental Suit still broken

    Posted: 11 Mar 2021 08:48 AM PST

    Today's patch notes included:

    • Resolved an issue that was causing the Environmental Suit (23rd Century) to not display fully when worn.

Finally fixing a long broken suit? Yes and no.
Yes, the suit is fixed. But only the common, white suit (named Environmental Suit - 23rd Century) it has flat gray tubes on the suit.

The Z store suit, the purple rare (named Environmental Suit (23rd century)) is still broken on male toons. This is the suit that has the multi-colored tubes that match the ones used on the show.

    Yes, I tried enabling/disabling visuals.

Could the tailor team please take another look at this? And if someone could ping Kael, I'd really appreciate it :)

Ten Forward Weekly 10.04.2021: EC Henry

    Posted: 10 Mar 2021 07:11 PM PST

Links: Twitch, Facebook [1:02] (don't mind that Mike forgot to rename the stream... again)

    Topic: EC Henry

Guests: lead ship and UI artist Thomas Marrone and a special guest: youtube star & ship modeler extraordinaire (sic) EC Henry

Mike decided to stream with BoP bridge background which resulted in him flashing because of home-level editing that was outlining his silhouette (that also accidentally removed his right hand).

    • Both Mike and Thomas are fans of Eric's work.
    • Eric always loved starships, and drawn them for as long as he could hold a pencil, but it was only(comparably) recently that he started 3D modelling, which is his main creative medium right now.
      • He still does 2D art as a starting point before figuring how it would unfold into 3D.
    • Every ship, even one in "smudge on the screen" quality, consist of certain shapes.
    • Eric: "Design is a craft".
      • Eric says that what people usually call talent is just starting abilities and the actual defining characteristics are passion for the topic, willingness to keep improving and determination to keep going.
      • In particular he said that his first works were atrocious, but he kept trying until models became decent.
    • Ships classes Eric designed for STO so far: Earhart, Columbia, M'Chla refit and Horatio.
    • Earhart was very boxy, so while updating it to 25c design shapes Eric made it curved to mark the difference.
      • While original ship was already notably broken into parts, he made sure that all lines complement each other even while in different parts of the ship.
      • Fun looking mechanically useless part that Eric put on the ship is fly-through hangar bay.
      • From the very beginning, Eric was decided to make the nacelles split on the end on that ship.
    • For Eric Columbia class was somewhat of a special case, because he had to combine ENT and TMP designs, which both are very defined.
      • It was a bit hard to think of something, as all canon designs and even popular fanon one were already implemented.
      • TMP era NX was Thomas' personal design request for Eric.
      • He decided that to make it different, yet recognizable he needs to focus on the nacelles.
      • While he was basing each of the designs from TMP ships so that they would have similar design language, he didn't want it to be a kitbash, so he modelled them all from the ground up.
      • Fun feature it the grill on the front of the ship, that kinda breaks the usual surface level of Starfleet ships. He headcanons that there's some advanced sensors and the such there.
    • M'Chla refit's shape was based upon bat'leth as a geometrically simple, yet sharp shape in line with TNG BoP style, as opposed to the very complex DIS shapes.
      • That ship's existence is Mike's personal request.
      • There's a lot of surface detail and machinery, which is again more in line with TNG style, as opposed to the DIS where all the machinery is hidden.
      • Eric decided to shorten the neck, but to elongate the bridge itself to compensate, which it turn would make it look more like TNG BoP, in comparison to the DIS snub nose.
      • Besides the visible cannons, fun feature Eric added is a pylons that one normally could attach additional ordnance on, like missile pods.
    • Eric thinks that "Enterprise shape" that Ambassador class was ultimately part of was so iterated by this point that it's hard to do something new within it for Horatio.
      • He wanted to "make a unibody shape without making a unibody shape" because "Enterprise shape" looks very modular where you can clearly see where one part ends and the other begins.
      • Split neck was Thomas' suggestion of a STO-exclusive design feature.
        • Eric decided to fill that empty area with additional shuttle bay.
      • For secondary hull's shape he was thinking about rocket ships.
      • Eric made hangar control window glow red in homage to TMP shuttle control which incorporated real air traffic control practices.
      • Fun feature Eric made for this ship is that it looks as if bridge is actually located on a small auxiliary vessel that's embedded in the saucer; it's denoted by red separation line, you can even see the warp nacelles.
      • Thomas likes how Eric solved the combination of split neck and necessity to have engines placed there, as per Ambassador lineage.
    • And right now Eric is working on the T6 Steamrunner (pic here). It'll probably be released closer to the end of the year.
      • He used the original's shape, but it was looking as if low-poly, so he broke it by making all the shapes more round.

Cryptic remove that trash from ESD please

Hey cryptic I'm sorry but having your new fancy Janeway class there is a terrible idea. Not c-store. Not for everyone. No sense lore wise. Take your pick. Everyone else reading this upvote this to show them what we think of that. Unless you like it then downvote?

    Omega Force & M.A.C.O. Mk X Gear

    Posted: 11 Mar 2021 06:41 AM PST

I've tried looking this up and keep going round in circles
It still lists x2 accolades for both sets of Mk X gear, every where i look it keep pushing me back to the Rep store, nothing there, i look online i find a couple of pages relating to the said items.

    https://sto.gamepedia.com/M.A.C.O._Commander/Mark_X_Ground_Special_Reserve
    https://sto.gamepedia.com/Roxy/Recruit_Requisitions

Go see Roxy, nothing. Am i missing something or are these 2 accolades totally pointless now and non gainable in game?
    to quote the wiki
" Players used to requisition equipment from Roxy until Encrypted Data Chips and Borg Salvage were deprecated in favor of Omega Marks and the Reputation System. All the items previously available for purchase from her can now be acquired through Reputation Projects. " < just not the Mk X gear it seems

    Fleet Battlecruiser question

    Posted: 11 Mar 2021 09:55 AM PST

I've decided I want to purchase the fleet battlecruiser. I'm going to use zen to get the fleet modules I need, but my question is, will it require extra zen to get the Arbiter variant? I ask because the Arbiter variant has the zen symbol beside it, so I'm unsure if it requires extra zen

What would you think of a ”Spectres” revamp, timed for Halloween 2022?

    Posted: 10 Mar 2021 03:38 PM PST

(I'd say this year, but they'd have to start on it three months ago.)

Spectres originally launched October 2010, so Halloween of Year 0.

Besides default material updates, I don't think it - or Drozana - has had much of a facelift over the last 11 years. Definitely not since 2016 when I first ran it.

Maybe for Halloween 2022, they could do some touch-ups on Drozana, the character models (McCoy is…rough.), maybe even bring Karl Urban in as a special guest to do VA for Prime-McCoy?

And make tweaks to the VA and everything to bring it in line with the current state of things, like Ze'mara is just…there. I don't know if she was a bigger deal back when, but now she's just there.

    Just a random idea.

    Thoughts?

    Ship wobbles...

    Posted: 11 Mar 2021 09:35 AM PST

Created a Jem'Hadar engineer today and have this very curious bug. My ship wobbles or shakes from time to time. Not much. It looks like it floats over a shallow wave. This happens on all ships of this toon, but it doesn't happen on other toons. What causes this and how can I fix it?

    Damage types

    Posted: 11 Mar 2021 09:21 AM PST

I'm somewhat new to officially playing STO but I have in the past so my question is, what's considered Kinetic damage and what's the other damage type? I read that shields reduce kinetic damage by 75% and I'm looking to balance it out so I'm prepared for anything.
