Posted: 29 Apr 2020 11:00 AM PDT I have to give some well deserved credit to Cryptic on a few things. First of all, the Klingon announcement brings great joy to my heart! Secondly, I just recently returned after some significant time away and last night I found that ships are now auto-added to the Admiralty system upon reaching L52. That is just awesome! So, kudos to you Cryptic, and keep up the good work! [link] [comments]

Where to Start? All I've been doing in the main episodes. Posted: 29 Apr 2020 09:25 AM PDT Hello fellow players of STO. I've been playing on and off for a few years but only got really into the game a few weeks ago. I do however like to call myself an experienced trekkie (started watching at age 7, 20 now) I've built my main federation character up to Lvl 40 and passed through a few of the episode chains/story arcs. (Now at Borg Adventure). I'm looking for some people that could help me get into the social bit of the game as well as explore the other tasks available to the players. I've not joined a fleet nor have I experimented with any kind of multi player other then the task force operations required by the story arc. Could anyone recommend a good place to start. I WELCOME ANY GAME TIPS YOU HAVE TO OFFER! [link] [comments]
Did I get a lucky server connection or is latency gone? Posted: 29 Apr 2020 09:52 AM PDT I just did Kramp'lhri, Race Coordinator, and One Night in Bozeman without any latency (and what a different having no latency doing Bozeman makes!) Did they fix the latency or did I just get a lucky connection? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Apr 2020 07:59 AM PDT I just downloaded this (PS4) and its really, really laggy. I'm just in the menues right now creating a character and everything is moving really slowly. PS4 works perfectly with every other game. Is this an issue with the game normally? It's kinda putting my off getting into it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Apr 2020 11:42 AM PDT I wanted to pick up the Breen Boff, and from what I have found it is a part of the 'It's About Time Pack' from Mudd's Market. I don't see this pack listed in game though. Was it limited only? Couldn't find reference online of it being limited. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Apr 2020 04:11 AM PDT Does anybody know the length, beam, deck number, crew complement etc of the Glenn-class? I know the Crossfield is 750 metres along and the Glenn-class is larger by a fair whack, but does anybody have any specifics? Or, at the least, a decent estimate? [link] [comments]
Thoughts of a 23rd Century Admiral Posted: 29 Apr 2020 01:30 AM PDT Lagging a bit behind u/Beard_Of_Borg, my TOS-era alt has now reached L60, in theory unlocking the last elements of whatever is available. So I thought I'd share my observations in case anyone is minded to attempt the same pointless stunt. Levelling: Was not too bad to L52. "Tangled Webs" - boosted by the event and first contact bonuses - gets you a level each time, for barely 10 minutes gameplay. You also spend the entire mission shooting Na'kuhl so it's decently engaging. I broke it up with "Painful Omens" - also short - and Arena of Sompek, which for some reason unlocks at L10. Thanks to the veteran Sompekkers who carried the idiot low-level TOS Fed through several runs! At L52 Admiralty sort of unlocks, which made short work of the rest. Ship Availability: The catalyst for my effort was the Legendary MW Connie being available to TOS Feds as a levelling ship. The levelling Walker-class from the DSC starter pack is also available. Past players had reported that you could use the 31st century ships; not owning these I cannot confirm whether they are available. However, the similarly cross-faction Cardassian ships are not. Intriguingly, Jem'hadar vanguard ships CAN be used if you had them at T6 - it appears that the T6 unlock mechanism bypasses the factional restrictions used on other ships. The other really interesting this is event ships. Past players had reported that on reaching L40 they could reclaim event ships; this is no longer the case, as the Events tab is greyed out and the reclaim store along with it. However, in another intriguing interaction, all unlocked cross-faction event ships turn up for Admiralty use once you reach level 52. So it appears that the "lock" is on the reclaim store, but the Admiralty auto-claim function works around that... luckily for me. Gear Reclaim: Dilithium Store reclaim tab is available - very helpful for getting unlimited Sompek shields and Terran armour sets - but not any event store gear, so you're limited to very old unlocks if you have them. As an aside, another oddity is that the Furiadon pet can be claimed and slotted, but does not appear when activated in the TOS setting. Exchange Ships / Traits: It appears that the "TOS Federation is not Federation" rule is in effect. Genuinely all-faction stuff, eg the "Point Defense Protocols" trait, is usable, but not Federation-specific traits like "Honored Dead". Reputations and TFOs: At level 60, all bar the Borg and DSC TFOs are available. Quite why that should be the case is intriguing; I'd guess that post-ViL, Cryptic have been quietly restricting access to characters which are Fed / KDF aligned, including the Borg TFOs when they were remastered. Would be interesting to know if nonaligned Romulans have the same experience. However, all reputations can be accessed if you have the marks. Random TFOs work normally, it seems; I will have to try some more and see if they drop me into an ISA or SB1 instance. Specializations: More experimentation required. I was able to train one episode reward BOff (Skavrin) as a Miracle Worker, but for some reason could not do the same with vendor-purchased common BOffs. Overall: An interesting experiment. In theory, a pure TOS character is as capable at endgame as any other character which does not have access to a fleet. While the Legendary Connie is obviously the ideal ship, in theory any of the factionless lockbox / lobi ships should work (not to self; I'll need to test that theory with one of the T5Us). While you do start to realise how small the TOS era map is after a bit, I've got another 12 alts to run round the rest of the galaxy and there is some satisfaction in basing out of old ESD. I will probably take advantage of the upcoming Upgrade Weekend to kit the character out with account-bound, thematic high end gear; I am considering using the 23c DECS set at Mk XV Epic for the Lulz along with Bellum consoles, which are at least semi-appropriate and add a bit of punch. Any way to stop confirmation for going to sector space? Posted: 28 Apr 2020 09:55 PM PDT I'm trying to record a shot of my ship in front of earth for a few moments, then warping out of the system. My problem currently is when I use the keybind I set for leaving the system it pops up a confirmation window, which ruins the shot. Does anyone know of a way to disable confirmation pop ups? Posted: 29 Apr 2020 02:22 AM PDT Hi, I started playing STO a couple of weeks ago. I've just been playing the episodes in order and have got to an early Delta Quadrant mission called Revalations, and I seem to have hit a wall. I've cheesed my way through the game so far, haven't paid any attention to builds. Just been upgrading ship equipment as I get better gear and until this mission even on Elite it's been fine. Just me on my own, in space enjoying the stories and I've really enjoyed it so far. Revalations though has utterly owned me. I start the mission, there's three Voth frigates and literally the second I get anywhere close to them to hit them with a volley I get hit with something that instantly and completely wipes out my shield and before I can turn around and get the fudge out of dodge I'm dead - whole process takes about five seconds. I've tried dropping it from Elite to Advanced to Normal and the same thing happens. Is this the point in the game where I'm going to have to actually know what the hell I'm doing and respec my character (if that's even possible), or is there a specific loadout for my ship that I should work towards getting to make this easier. Probably should have said this earlier, I'm a level 65 Tactical Fed Human flying a T5 Advanced Escort. [link] [comments] |
