    Ground haste ability

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 08:35 AM PDT

Does anyone know if there are any kits armour, traits or whatever that gives you weapon haste for ground weapons?

I've tried searching but my Google-fu is lacking.

Share Your "I'm tired of dying and am going to learn how this game works!" Conversion Story

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 12:49 AM PDT

What was your experience like when you got so frustrated with the game that you decieded to dive in and figure out how all those other people did all those cool things to destroy enemies while you were busy waiting to respawn?

It was 3 years ago for me, I got so frustrated at dying over and over again doing the Dyson Sphere story, "Tower Control." Up until then, I had played casually, choosing my favorite reward from missions, never replaying them, not paying too much attention to Bridge Officer abilities, game mechanics, etc. Essentially, I used what sounded cool and thought that should be enough. I wanted to see the story more than anything.

A year ago, or so, I picked up STO again, and thought I'd give it another go. Loaded it up, and proceeded into the Dyson Sphere to try and tackle the next story on my mission list: "Tower Control." I died almost instantly. That was it. I was going to learn how this game works.

Ten Forward, STO Reddit and STO Builds, Youtube videos, spreadsheets, STO-pedia, etc. I spent a year learning as much as I could and trying to figure out how to have fun in the game by not dying. Once you peak behind the curtain though, the game is so different than I thought it was.

I remember realizing that I should replay missions to get all the rewards, that reputations are a really good idea to work on, and when I discovered AtB, it was like seeing how things could work together in the game to provide a fun atmosphere where you can feel competitive and helpful to your teammates in TFO's. Before all this I never did a TFO; I was going to be a burden to my teammates. Now, I can not only contribute to my team, but am a pretty serviceable tank. Learning all the "little things" about the game that we take for granted really caused the "fun" level of the game improved drastically for me. Think about all those little things we know and use all the time that for a new player might never occur to them:

    - Using all one kind of damage type and their corresponding Tac consoles. - Cooldown management - Duty Officer and BOff ability synergy. - Useful Starship and Personal traits. - Earning equipment from Reps. - AtB and Technicians. You get the idea

New players: don't be afraid to ask people who seem to be doing better than you how this game works. It is a ton of fun once you figure a couple of things out, and doesn't need to cost a fortune to play.

Veteran Players: help out other players to figure out this game. New players are important to the future of this game we love and play almost daily. It can be so much fun once a couple of little details are figured out. There's no harm in offering help if you know a trick or 2 that can be of use.

One last point: I just learned about Emergency Weapons Cycle and can't believe I didn't learn about this sooner!

I'll see you out among the stars!

It's been a full year since the last lobi ship...

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 07:50 PM PDT

The Undine Cruiser has been added to the lobi store exactly one year ago, and that was it.

On the other hand, four new ships was added straight into the infinity lock box.

The lobi ships was suppose to be some sort of consolation prize, like you opened 180 new boxes and no luck, but at least you can get this less-desirable-but-also-a-new-ship with your 900 lobi. Like the Kwejian Frigate or Jovian Raider fits right in with the 32c Lock Box as a lobi ship, the Deimos Destroyer would fits well in the Picard Lock Box, and the Mirror Warship is from the exact show and scene with the Emperor's Lock Box.

I mean, even in a money-making perspective, every lobi ship would still eventually cost 180 keys to the original buyer, that's not much less than an infinity ship right? So what's seem to be the problem?

    Hello,

Im a lvl 45 rear admiral upper Fed. I got a giveaway matha raptor T6 ship, and when i try to claim it from the zen store it says "You do not meet the requirements for this item."

The only requirement is having completed the tutorial, but since I'm lvl 45 I already did a while ago.

    Special Request to Cryptic

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 07:08 PM PDT

    Dear Cryptic/PWE,

Given that "House United" appears to be set to launch on console in the first week of August (I'm safely guessing post-Summer Event), I am begging you not to launch the Event and its associated update until after you thoroughly debug it.

I've been keeping-up regarding the major bugs/glitches that have come with the Event's launch on PC, and I am understandably horrified of the implications for console should it be ported wholesale instead of pre-patched or otherwise fixed beforehand.

I understand that it takes longer to work-in patches on console thanks to Sony/MS requiring advanced approval for any updates (as opposed to the PC environment where patches/fixes can be worked almost in real time). That is why I'm more than willing to wait even longer if it means that the bugs PC folks are experiencing are fixed come launch on console--and I'd be damned if no one else on console felt the same.

Don't take my request the wrong way--it's just me caring enough about the game to be paying attention, and having played it long enough to know how things usually go.

    Respectfully,

    Direwolf016

    Unification 2.5

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 06:35 AM PDT

Since we know that some time after the fall of Romulus and the 32nd century, Vulcan and Romulans reunify, can we, perhaps, have a story that, at least, intimates-if not explicitly moves towards- the bringing together the Vulcans and Romulans?

Disco Season 3 doesn't actually say WHEN the two come together and I think it'd make some interesting content, specially if the devs intend to have a Fed year or Rom year or whatever.

While we're at it, we could also have something about the Kelpian-Ba'ul Alliance, since we know Kaminar joins the Federation circa this era, I believe.

Ship Discount Question (Fleet Ship Modules)

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 02:21 PM PDT

For STO there is a saying: There is always a sale around the corner

Sometimes there are discounts for ships

My Question is if when there is such a discount where a ship costs 20% less, does this also affect the price of fleet ship modules for the fleet ships (4 instead of 5 for example)?

Thank you for your answers :)
