I guess Cryptic is drawing inspiration from the maiden voyage of the Enterprise-B now.

It's embarrassing having to beg other players to give you covering fire while you retreat all because your weapons suddenly decide that it's a great time to stop firing nevermind the fact that the ship is under heavy fire when they decided this..

Semi-Useless Data 2: Ships that can slot the most Tac or Eng or Sci abilities

    Posted: 30 May 2021 09:50 AM PDT

Yesterday, we looked at which ships had the most slots for abilities of each specialization. Doing that got me thinking about today's question:

Which ships has the most slots for abilities of each standard career?

That is, if I want to load my ship up with as many Tac (or Sci or Eng) abilities as humanly possible, which ship would get me the most?

Well, the real answer is pretty boring. It's the Raiders, Scout Ships, and Frigates that have almost all universal seating. Since they make this question so lame, I'm going to pretend that they all don't exist in a minute. But before I do, there is one interesting thing to say about them.

Raiders - All Universal vs Almost All Universal

    • Some Raiders have a Tactical commander seat, with all other seats being universal.
    • The other raiders are 100% universal.

They make a tradeoff for this flexibility - every 100% universal raiders loses 1 boff ability slot, meaning they only get 12 boff abilities instead of the usual 13! Usually that means losing the ensign seat, giving them a 4/3/3/2 setup - the one exception is the D4x, which instead demotes a lt. cmdr for a 4/3/2/2/1 setup.

So the answer to "Which ship can slot the most Tac abilities?" is "Any raider that has a fixed Tactical commander seat." These ships can slot 13 tac abilities, while a 100% universal raider could only slot 12.

(All the existing Scout Ships have a fixed Sci commander, and all the Frigates have a fixed Eng commander. They all have the full 13 boff abilities.)

    So there's the boring answer:

    • Most Tac slots (13 abilities): any Tac commander Raider
    • Most Sci slots (13 abilities): any Scout Ship
    • Most Eng slots (13 abilities): any Frigate

The runner-up for all three would be "any 100% universal Raider", which can slot 12 abilities of any type.

...But that was too easy. So lets throw all Raiders, Scout Ships, and Frigates out the window, and see which ships are the second-best!

(Second-Best) Most Tac slots (12 abilities)

    • Thozyn, Xechas, and Vandros (the tac variants of the pilot escort megabundle)
    • Klein, Chargh/poH, and Tal'aura (Lobi Temporal Destroyers)
    • Hur'q Vridyat
    • Jem'hadar Recon and Strike Ships

All of these have a fixed Eng ensign seat, ecept the Vridyat which has a Sci ensign.

(Second-Best) Most Eng slots (10 abilities)

    • Scott, Mur'Eq, Nijil (the eng variants of the miracle worker megabundle)
    • L-Excelsior
    • Section 31 Command Heavy Battlecruiser

The MW bundle ships have a Tac lieutenant and a Sci ensign, and the L-Excelsior and S31 ships have a Tac lt commander.

(Second-Best) Most Sci slots (12 abilities)

    • Verne, QuipoH, Sui'Mor (Lockbox Temporal Science Vessels)

These should be no surprise to anyone who keeps up with the science meta. They're well known for being one of the kings of space magic DPS due to their ability to slot a ton of EPG powers, and also trigger Spore Infused Anomalies a jillion times. (Uh oh, we're crossing out of "useless data" territory here!)

They have an Eng ensign seat.

    Bonus Category: Most Universal slots

In the other categories, I've been treating Universal seats as if they belonged to the career we were interested in. But for this category, let's treat "Universal" as a thing of its own, and see which ship has the most of it!

Real Answer (12 slots): Any 100% universal Raider

(Second-Best) (9 slots): Any Scout Ship, Frigate, or tac commander Raider

Okay, enough with the Raiders, already. For the non-raiders, there are a lot of ships tied at 5. I'll break them down by Commander seat

Tac Commander, non-Raider, Most Universal (5 slots)

    • All 9 Allied Pilot Escorts
    • Khopesh
    • L-Vor'cha
    • Vengeance
    • Klein, Chargh'poH, Tal'aura
    • Jem'Hadar Heavy Strike Wing Escort
    • S'ateth
    • Vridyat
    • Mandukar
    • Jem'Hadar Recon and Strike Ships

Eng Commander, non-Frigate, Most Universal (5 slots)

    • Sojourner, Kahless (Flagships, Fed and KDF eng variants)
    • Omash
    • Acheros
    • Donnie (MW), D7 (MW)
    • Section 31 Command Heavy Battlecruiser

Sci Commander, non-Scout-Ship, Most Universal (5 slots)

    • Brigid, Ahgamas, Galas (sci variants of the Multimission bundle)
    • Bastille
    • Verne, Qui'poH, SuiMor
    • Crossfield Spearhead
    • Crossfield Spearhead Refit
    • T'laru
    • Mirror Crossfield
    • Annorax

Universal Commander, non-Raider, Most Universal (5 slots)

    • Khlinae (Battlecruiser)
    • Einstein, Kelvin D7 (Destroyers)
    • Jorogumo (Carrier)

So there you have it! Another day of Semi-Useless Data.

    Klingon Civil War Ending

    Posted: 30 May 2021 01:48 AM PDT

I know I am late to the party, but was anyone else thoroughly disappointed by the Civil War arc as a whole? Starts as they're trying to make a name for their house and takeover the empire and fight starfleet again, then somehow J'Ula and Mokai are worthy allies and now L'Rell is chancellor? Somehow Klingons were against Kahless but not against L'Rell? I would rather have Martok in that position, he is the only one who stayed honorable across cannon and STO.

Also about the Elachi, are they not a warlike species or something similar? They are shown as peaceful creatures being corrupted by J'Ula and her weapon, but did they not fight for the Iconians, and did they not attack Enterprise NX-01? Idk the whole ending was kinda meh imo

Spencer's Enterprise-A redesign as a skin for the Vengeance class. It's a similar size, similar shape, and very similar proportions. Thoughts?

Has anyone noticed when using the new console from the lockbox, it has the strange habit of making dreadnaughts move downward? I've witnessed it in Days of Doom as well as ISE. Here's a video of it happening. A bit weird no?

    Weapon bug workaround

    Posted: 30 May 2021 06:51 AM PDT

I've had the bug on some toons but not others and I've found a simple and effective workaround:

Escape > options > key binds then reset to defaults

You'll have to fiddle about if you've not been using default controls, but your guns will now fire and your pets will launch

Tested this on four toons and it's cleared them right up

Comparing the Legendary Glenn en Crossfield Refit….

    Posted: 30 May 2021 06:55 AM PDT

So i fly the the Glenn on a Delta Toon and was wondering what are the differences between the Glenn and Crossfield Refit?

    Crossfield Refit;

    • Cannons
    • Battlecloak Integrated so no waisting extra consoles space for that
    • More power (I believe + 10 more?)
    • Universal Console can be used as Tactical or for extra EPG Shenanigans.
    • More Universal Bridge seating.
    • Much better Hull Modifier then the Glen 1.45 instead of 1.05 for the Glenn
    • One extra weapon slot on the Aft

    The Glenn;

    • Full Temporal Specialisation
    • More Command Abilities (Luitenant-Commander Science/Command) and therefore more Science abilities, and this makes the Glenn a excellent Torpedo boat for CF3.
    • More Tactical slots
    • Better Shield modifier 1.45 Refit has 1.1.
    • Limited to Beams and no Integrated Battlecloak.

All in all i think both are top notch and i wished the Glenn could mount Cannons to so we could mount the Defiant's Quad Cannons and we have Battlecloak to 😉!

But the Glenn makes a very good DEW/Science Torpedo boat and can put up a good fight and she has Temporal going for her.

Don't know how the Crossfield Refit flies but i think both versions are in the upper tiers of Science Ships with versatile seating.

And the Refit seems more Tanky and has the ability to hit harder with Cannons.
