The final cinematic reminded me of a certain moment

Just spotted this ability referencing "Ender's Game" and now I must have it...

But hey, we've got a fourth T6 variant of the Crossfield!

It pains me to say this, but this game is getting less and less fun and feels less and less like Star Trek

    Posted: 30 May 2021 04:52 PM PDT

As my handle suggests, I really like this game. I've played it for a long time (since launch) and it's still my favorite game.

Having said that, the recent missions are feeling less and less fun to me, and also less and less 'star trek'. The reason is simple, and it's been discussed quite a bit lately: the combat.

This has always been a combat focused game, and that's fine with me. I like flying my ship and shooting stuff. But I have seen this game go from fighting fighting 1-3 ships at a time in the early missions and episodes to fighting dozens and dozens and dozens. And the problem is, that's what every single modern mission is. Dozens and dozens and dozens of ships (or NPCs on ground).

The battles have become so big, and so long, that it doesn't even feel like 'star trek' anymore. I'm not sure what it feels like...but I don't feel like 1 captain going on an adventure. It feels like a never-ending war, and it's become not-so-fun.

In case my meaning isn't clear, I'm not asking for non-combat missions. I'm asking for a more reasonable amount of enemies and combat in the missions. Although this is just my subjective opinion, it feels like every recent mission has at least double (if not triple) the amount of enemies it 'should' have.

I've enjoyed this game for a long time and I want to enjoy it for many more years, but I'm starting to get worried that won't happen if they continue down their recent mission design path :(

PS: an example of a mission that feels 'just right' to me is called "Researcher Rescue". If you are a Fed and haven't played it in a while, it feels like playing an actual episode of star trek. That is the feeling I miss, and I really hope they can manage to make this kind of mission again one day.

Full list of ships missing a T6 version.

    Posted: 31 May 2021 12:46 AM PDT

Recent reddit meme has made me want to remake the list, and post it again.

    Lobi

    • Advanced Obelisk Carrier
    • Hirogen Apex Heavy Battlecruiser

    Lockbox

    • APU Cruiser
    • Hirogen Hunter Heavy Escort
    • Kazon Heavy Raider
    • Malon Battlecruiser
    • Nihydron Destroyer
    • Sphere Builder Arehbes Destroyer
    • Tholian Meshweaver Escort

    Phoenix Prize Pack

    • Risian Luxury Cruiser
    • Voth Bulwark Dreadnought Cruiser

    Starfleet

    • Aquarius Light Escort
    • Cheyenne Heavy Cruiser
    • D'Kyr Science Vessel
    • Dyson Science Destroyers x3
    • Emissary Star Cruiser
    • Hermes Patrol Escort
    • Malachowski Light Cruiser
    • Nova Science Vessel
    • Oberth Light Science Vessel(coming 2021?)
    • Olympic Research Science Vessel
    • Pioneer Utility Cruiser
    • Saber Escort
    • Steamrunner Blockade Runner Escort(coming 2021)
    • Trident Deep Space Science Vessel

    Klingon

    • Dyson Science Destroyers x3
    • HoH'SuS Bird-of-Prey

    Romulan

    • Dyson Science Destroyers x3
    • Ha'feh Assault Warbird
    • Ha'nom Guardian Warbird

A good chunk of these ships are either directly(Kazon, Malon, Hirogen, APU, Nihydron, Sphere Builder), or indirectly(Dyson Science Destroyers, Obelisk) Delta Quadrant related.

Time for another DQ focused story so we can get them to make T6 versions of these ships?

    MISSION:ARMISTICE

    Posted: 31 May 2021 06:14 AM PDT

In mission armistice,if you have "defiant"(tactical escort refit),you could use cloak?

Like this, instead of sending probe to distract satlites, why can't AI recognize that you have cloak?

    Can't they make that work?

    Dedicated PVP Server

    Posted: 31 May 2021 09:31 AM PDT

Still building up a dedicated PVP server, and to clarify some things from the last post a couple days ago:

You don't need to join some sort of fleet/armada

There will be tournaments and other scheduled games, or you can do your own matchmaking in the channel dedicated for that

PVP is divided in to skill based categories so if you're new to PVP you won't get instantly blown up by someone more experienced

We also have channels for trading and talking about star trek itself, we have open staff positions, and could use just general community members, in the event you aren't interested in PVP but still want to join

Azure Nebula Rework: A constructive criticism for the Devs.

    Posted: 31 May 2021 08:16 AM PDT

As the new Azure Nebula Rescue is the current event for us on console, and we're a few days into it, I just wanted to share the following observations because I think the redesign actually highlights the flaws in some TFO design even more.

Smaller map: This makes it easier to traverse and speeds up going to each point which is great, but doing everything faster on a timegate means more time doing nothing in the long run. Once the 2 objectives are complete in the first few minutes, you have no reason to move your ship and can go make a coffee whilst waiting for the timegate.

Lack of meaningful objectives: You can knock out the 14 points of ships in the first 4 minutes, and at that point there's nothing to play for. If you insist on a timegate, you need to stretch the objectives out over that time period. Give more marks at the end for doing 40 points of ships or something, but give us something to do.

Repetition: Point A, fire. Release ship. Point B, fire release ship. There's no variety in this and in tandem with the smaller map it just becomes even more painful.

Timegates themselves: Remove them unless they can be skipped. Into the breach does this well as a good example. Complete the tfo and the timegate is removed.

Just some thoughts of mine, and all done whilst sat doing nothing during a timegate in Azure Nebula!

How about they finally do that 'Children of Khan' story/TFO now?

    Posted: 30 May 2021 01:18 PM PDT

A long long time ago they announced an upcoming story/TFO called 'Children of Khan' that for some reason never got released (but was actually made and playable on test server for a brief time, videos on youtube).

How about now that YOK is finished they finally do the Children of Khan story?

QoL request: group for player's favorite TFOs

    Posted: 30 May 2021 08:08 PM PDT

Would it be possible to ask for a favorite group tab in TFO window?

I imagine each tfo would have a checkbox or button to mark it favorite and only those would show up in favorite tab.

I don't think it would affect much more the player interaction time to save us from some miles of scrolling and clicking than the reputation fill buttons did, but would make virtual life easier. :)

Not sure if it's possible to implement player specific custom lists, but hope never dies.

Anyone else having Beam Banks stop functioning after using Energy Weapons: Surgical Strikes a few times

    Posted: 31 May 2021 05:54 AM PDT

I've been playing some intel ships, on a few toons, for the starship traits, and have noticed on two of them that my beam weapons, except for the Kinetic Cutting Beam, completely stop functioning after a few uses of EW:SStrikes in an AuxToBat build. Anyone else have the same experiences? Is this a known issue? Any workarounds? Would be a real shame, because EW:SStrikes seems to be a really great Attack enhancement.
