Looks like I'm taking a vacation to the Dyson sphere!

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 08:39 AM PST

Look, I get the game now allows us to play as other characters in missions. But how about we continue the Trek condition of our Captains losing their memory or identity instead of just role playing as someone else?

Anyone else feel like they get a little too spawn happy with ships in space during the newest missions

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 07:03 AM PST

It's like, I've just dealt with a fleets worth of ships and suddenly a brand spanking new fleet warps in (On repeat every time you defeat a fleet), while all my cooldowns are in effect, my shields are practically down and my hull isn't in the best of wear and the friendly ships they put in with you are literally zero help too,.

Like, I don't mean to complain or anything but I've got a decently decked out Klingon recruit too, I can usually handle the strain of a couple of fleets worth of enemies, but eventually they just overwhelm, it just seems a bit much.

I've noticed it's best to just defeat one fleet and then hide for an undetermined amount of time, because it seems there's an invisible timer that counts down until it can't spawn fleets and fleets of ships.

Khitomer Discord mission bugged/not able to be finished?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 06:49 AM PST

I'm trying to get a few toons of mine caught up on the newer missions, however I'm facing a problem with "The Kithomer Discord", in the ground portion of the mission. It always appears in exactly the same spot:

After siding with J'Ula and coming back from the underhalls, you fight Jm'pok's goons. Once they are all gone, a Klingon miniboss with a small entourage should spawn in and taunt you. This does not happen anymore.

I also noticed that there seem to be duplicates of NPCs around - several neutral NPCs (such as Ambassador Surah) stand there while also having an unconcious version of them on the ground.

I'm guessing something is not quite right with the scripting in this mission. I've had this bug with multiple characters now, each breaking in the same spot. I've tried playing all the cutscenes - no effect.

Getting stuck in red alert mode for whole duration of some TFO's

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 10:30 AM PST

So I'm not sure of the specifics of this bug yet as it seems to be a bit random how it's happening.

But essentially in some TFO's when the mission countdown timer ends and we are able to move my ship is getting stuck in red alert mode. I'm flying a T6 BoP from the recruit event rewards and I'm still able to use all the boff abilities, clickies and the battlecloak etc.

Only issue is being stuck in red alert means no full impulse and sometimes it blocks interacts/popups. For example I did a Romulan Minefield and whilst constantly stuck in red alert I could not get to the final battle because I was so far away. It also meant I could not make use of the "warp to checkpoint" popup that you get in that mission.

I know at least one fleetmate has the same issue, and he's using the same ship, but the fleet version.

I cannot find a way to definitely replicate this bug and it has not appeared in any mission content so far.

Bug: Not getting doff complement on completion of recruit mission from Stass

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 10:21 AM PST

As the title says. You still get the mission from Stass, but no doffs on completion of the mission.

A bit annoying on my new KDF recruit, especially as this such an old bug, it now has children!

55,000 zen & still new (haha)

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 05:23 AM PST

    Hey guys, so...

I bought the lifetime sub for STO on release (yes, in 2010), but my friends and I started playing too early, and we only got to lvl 20 (whoop whoop). We had our own fleet which promises raiding and a teamspeak server....well, I just left that as I was the only member and it hadn't progressed at all. Those who remember that far back a lot of content was yet to be released and we got distracted by wow, essentially ended up not playing STO :(.

I've just got back into STO as my son (how things change-back when I bought this I was renting a room) is obsessed with space ATM and, as anticipated he loves this game. I'd like to play properly. I'm enjoying my old toon (although it's name was questionable) who flies around in a cannon filled escort just destroying stuff. I just realised I needed to upgrade the ship though, guess I was really REALLY lost back then.

So I notice PvP isn't really a thing ATM, like it used to be. I guess the game just isn't populated at low level, which is fine. It's more populated at 60(?) right?

But, what do I do? I presume 55,000 zen is a lot, I have a lot of perks from my lifetime sub as well and just worked out how to call myself 'starfleet veteran'. Maybe I should just stay at lvl 23 with that title and just confused people? Haha. But yeh, how do I use it all, get value out of my old OLD purchase. I have around 50,000 dilithium and 170,000 EC.

So, if anyone would give me a nudge on the right track it'd be awesome.

My son and I are playing romulan officers together, but I play my old Starfleet original on my own to get more to grips with it and hopefully do some more mature content (team and fleet stuff) eventually.

Help appreciated, laughter understood, haters gona hate haha.

Best Career path for each KDF species

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 10:56 AM PST

So with the Recruit event I was thinking now is a good time to make a bunch of Recruits for the species other than Klingons. I like to make characters that have matching ships but I am curious what is the optimal career path for each.

    • Orion Blackguard Flight Deck Assault Carrier - Is Engineering or Tactical better for a Carrier?
    • Nausicaan Kolasi Siege Destroyer - Tactical?
    • Ferasan Slithus Escort - Tactical?
    • Gorn Multi-Mission Science Vessel - Which is the best ship version and career path? I wanted to try an Aux Cannon build so I was thinking the Ahgamas-class and Tactical was best.
    • Lethean Pilot Escort - Which is the best ship version and career path? I was thinking Xechas-class and Tactical since it is an Escort.

Sadly KDF doesn't really have many/any Science Vessels so I do not think a KDF Science path will be needed. I made a Tactical Discovery era Klingon for the event, and was thinking I could make a TNG era Klingon that is Science but there aren't really any TNG era Support Vessels.

    I appreciate any advice!

multiple of my ground weapons do not emit firing sounds anymore since the last update (PS4)

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 10:48 AM PST

the ones i testet and found to have this issue: SF Elite Fleet Phaser Wide Beam Pistol, standard 25'th century SF Phaser Wide Beam Pistol, Bajoran Phaser Pistol, standard Phaser Compression Pistol, Type II Phaser Compression Pistol (c. 2285).

the ones i testet and found to not have this issue: Kelvin Timeline Federation Pistol, Section 31 Phaser Pistol.

all tested weapons were upgraded to the maximum and re-engineered if possible, i tested on two different SF characters over multiple play sessions (game and console reboot cycles) on PS4 (Pro).

please fix this immediately Cryptic - probably whatever standard weapon people get first to shoot in one or the other faction are broken in this manner too, and the idea that people who try out the game for the first time would get confronted for months with sci-fi guns that emit absolutely zero sound and are therefore obviously bugged is tragic to say the least.

Long missions with no save points is VERY bad mission design

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 04:15 PM PST

Sometimes when we're playing video games, "life happens". Internet problems, phone calls, other people in the home, etc. Sometimes we leave a mission and come back later to finish. Normally that isn't a problem, because most of STO's missions have enough map changes that you load back in to the last map you were on, even if you have to start the map progress over.

Well, the first of the new anniversary missions doesn't seem to be made this way. I played through the dream fights, the enemies beaming in, crossed the bridge into the next room, then had to leave for a bit. Come back and start from the beginning of the monestary again.

Why is the common sense mission design going down as the pretty graphics are going up?

Recruit Mark Claims Can’t Be Opened

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 10:21 AM PST

When your klink recruit finishes a story arc it allows another toon on the account to claim a mark box, just like all the other recruit events. However I can't get them to open on any toon, double clicking and selecting use does nothing. They're useless for non recruits right now.

Working on my Klingon Recruit... this was one of the rewards for the Priority Targets... I kinda like it. It can fire torpedoes while cloaked, although admittedly you DO briefly decloak to fire, but you dont have to recloak

New missions: why...the hell...are we letting J'Ula give us orders?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 01:23 PM PST

Just started the first of the 2 new missions and I'm taking orders from J'Ula? Why the hell? Who is writing this stuff, and why does my character care what she wants me to do?

When XBox removes the Gold requirement for free-to-play games, that'd be a perfect time to do the much-requested Recruitment Events re-run

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 10:38 PM PST

XBox has said that, within the next few months, they'll be lifting the XBL Gold requirement for FTP games, meaning that STO's XBox playerbase has a decent potential for expansion.

It would be a perfect time (the "opportunity" they look for) to do a massive Galactic Recruitment Event - turning on Temporal, Gamma and Delta for, say, a month or something.

Though timed with the XBox lifting the Gold requirement, they could make it a universal event - PC, XBox, and PlayStation - so newcomers can join in the fun and us old fogies can maybe snag the last couple reward boxes we're missing.

I dunno. Just think it's a good opportunity for them. And, though there's no date on it yet on Xbox's side, Cryptic probably does have a few months lead time to prep for it.
