    Favourtie quirk in STO?

    Posted: 18 Jul 2020 07:31 AM PDT

STO is a quirky game. There are a lot of little details that are odd, but give the game a lot of character.

My favourite of these little quirks is when you roundhouse or dropkick someone so hard they get vapourized.

What some more funny little details like this?

I don't know if it's too big a fighter or too little a frigate. Guess the size speak for their performance.

An idea to add some content diversity to future events

    Posted: 18 Jul 2020 09:53 AM PDT

First I'd like to say that I really like all of the choices of content we have to get our daily credit in this current Red Angel event. You can play 2 different episodes, 3 different patrols, or a TFO to get your daily credit. So that is a great variety to choose from so you aren't forced to do the exact same thing every day to get your daily credit.

With all of that said, new episodes are not something we get super often. So when it's time for the next event our choices might be more limited (like doing 1 TFO every day). So here is an idea: how about picking an existing journal story arc to "feature" during events that don't have new episodes. For example, give people a choice between doing (whatever the TFO is) or playing an episode from the Iconian War arc(or any other).

IMO this would make events a lot less "painful"(from the feeling of doing the same thing every day) and a lot more fun, plus it would give people a reason to replay some older missions they might not have played in a while.

    Just a thought! :)

    Romulan Imperial Minefield

When was it given a 30 minute cooldown? It was supposed to have none originally.

Edit: "There's no cooldown – play as often as you like!" Quoted and link to original post. https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/10888134-romulan-imperial-minefield

Is it possible to get the Black Alert or Mycelial Tribble for console? Are the even relevant? I came across them as I was soaking up pretty much everything on the wiki.

Its just hilarious to tun around the map gut checking bad guys with the ship. It obviously sucks, but the ECS doesn't leave a ship behind!

Does anyone else think the Archon's deflector dish is a little dim?

    Posted: 18 Jul 2020 05:12 AM PDT

It seems to be maybe the only 25c ship whose deflector dish is not illuminated in some way. Don't get me wrong, there's clearly some kind of glow effect that's suppose to be happening there (given how the cowling for the deflector is bathed in an orange light), but it looks...off, with no illumination on the dish itself. Especially since all the other Sovereign variants have some manner of illuminated deflector.

    Aquarius

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 03:44 PM PDT

I picked up the Fleet Aquarius Light Escort for a theme build. I'm working on. This might be one of my favorite ships right now. Small, agile, flexible seating. Even as a fleet 5-U, it's a pretty fun little raider.

I love the look of it! The fact that it's supposed to be an auxiliary craft for an Odyssey is so cool. I can fly my Odyssey, then if I feel like swapping to the Aquarius for a patrol or something, the head canon works so well.

I'm not entirely sure why the nacelles fold away for warp instead of vice-versa, but still: a pretty cool ship.

I would LOVE to see this thing with Pilot maneuvers as a T6. It could make a cool bundle with a T6 odyssey. (Maybe 3 aquarius variants, so you can bundle with the appropriate odyssey)

If I had ONE complaint it's that the Odyssey has a special bridge called Aquarius... the aquarius can't use that bridge. The bridge named after it... ugh.

    Infinity Packs Return!

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 12:43 PM PDT

Bug Report/Exploit(?): Open the Maw of Grethor Uni-Console can cheese or break certain TFOs (the one where you sits around 20km+ in front of enemy while briefing is being played.) Break found in Best Served Cold TFO, turning it unplayable.

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 10:46 PM PDT

    The console in question

What the console does is that it fires a Fire projectile that spawns Souls of Grethor Pets as it travels. The thing about this projectile is that it travels really far. Like, really far. Far enough that it can spawn targetable pets within aggro range of an enemy fleet 20km+ in front of you while you're stuck in a forced TFO briefing session.

Obviously the pets cant win against the enemy fleet. But what it does do is aggro the entire fleet toward the TFO team while briefing is still ongoing because the combat AI is now active. The briefing session prevent ships from flying, but not firing. As soon the enemy fleet enter 10km range, the TFO team enters combat with the fleet while still unable to move, giving the team the opportunity to destroy the enemy fleet.

When it broke: during a Best Served Cold TFO run, the Maw uni-console is activated immediately. A few seconds later, the Klingon Fleet enters combat with the Maw pets. Said fleet then proceeds to fly toward the TFO team. Briefing is still not over. the Klingon Fleet engages the TFO team and was completely destroyed. Briefing is still not over. TFO team talks about the early win. Briefing ends. New objective: "Defeat Klingon Fleet" when there is no fleet left to defeat. TFO become unbeatable & breaks.

So.... yeah, I broke the game (sry dev & TFO team on that broken run). If you didn't kill every single ship during the briefing , the game proceeds normally (I checked) but if you do, the TFO just dies due to non-existent objective.

Also tried the console in Infected: The Conduit because of the Borg fleet placed right in front of the briefing area. Weirdness happens as most of the ship/structures become invisible/untargetable after some of the aggro'd Borg ships were destroyed during briefing until I get close to them. Not keen on testing that shenanigan again.

As to how to fix them, I guess devs could put something like a wall in front of the spawn point, that obstructs pathing that removes itself after briefing ends. I'd say a box instead of a wall but then again, giant playable ships hogging all the space in the box.

I'd also say just disable everything until briefing ends but then say goodbye to early buffing before briefing ends.

Also, wouldn't the Klingon Fleet have the tactical advantage if most of them use cloak early on and have some uncloaked ships act as bait? (sry, off-topic. just something I wondered.)

What the hell is that thing the Fek'lri do that isn't a cloak, but makes them unable to be attacked, but isn't a debuff?

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 07:42 PM PDT

I swear, it's almost like a cloak, except *it doesn't clear the target. Typically, things that make enemies go "Oh ho, you can't shoot me!" also make them untargetable, but this doesn't - you can maintain the lock on them the entire time, but you can't shoot them.
