I just wanted to say thank you for the awesome free content this game offers

I know there are valid complaints to be made with how the game sells certain items and ships, but I just wanted to say thank you for the awesome free content this game offers. I mean, I'm happy just to fly around in a Galaxy class ship and play the stories the devs have given us, and yesterday's missions(as well as the DS9 story) really blew me away. The fact that you can get that kind high quality Trek experience literally for free is amazing. Thank you to all of those who provided this!

Can we have Khitomer Discord scanning applied to Risa's Scavenger Hunt, please?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 05:50 AM PDT

I cannot speak for anyone else but I find the Scavenger Hunt scanning on Risa an exercise in frustration. I don't think I've ever succeeded in using it to locate artifacts, just by blind luck. When you perform a scan in the new episode 'Khitomer Discord', it's much easier to see in which direction you need to go.

Thomas: I had fun making the platinum vanity shield for you all! It was a bit of an inside tribute to an obscure 90s cartoon and toy series called RING RAIDERS

If you could jump back to any point in STO's life, when would it be, and why?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 06:18 AM PDT

Personally, as generic as this'll probably sound, I'd hop right back the early days. I suppose it's nostalgia talking, but there was something unique about the feel of the game back then.

    - Bridges so large, you had to get your Chief Engineer to make an anti-grav ladder to reach the top of a display screen, then simultaneously use a megaphone to tell the Helmsman to go to Warp 3. It's poked at with fun, and some bit of negativity nowadays, but color me missing the Sistine Chapel days of interiors again.

    - The old ESD. While I was never necessarily fond of the layout, I do miss the little impromptu "ceremony" you could do/receive when you got a promotion. To me, it made my character feel like a real part of the universe, rather than the standard: "Well, here's your promotion and a new ship, now get back to work" we get now.

It's really a mix of many things, but those are mostly the two that stand out to me, personally, as weird as it is. How about you guys?

    Quality of Life: Salvaging Equipment

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 04:11 AM PDT

I tried looking but haven't seen this anywhere else. A BIG QoL improvement for me would be for the ability to Salvage multiple items at once. Have a button at the bottom of the inventory which will auto-salvage everything (that can be salvaged) from a certain quality (set by player, default of Uncommon) An alternate would be use the replicator function where instead of selling an item it will salvage it instead.

It's hard for me to even imagine playing the new missions on a non-KDF character

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 06:56 AM PDT

The weird thing is, I know the vast majority of people who play these missions are doing it on Feds, but it's hard for me to even imagine the story making as much sense. I mean, you start in the Great Hall in what is essentially a closed meeting between the Klingon houses. It's so weird to even imagine playing this is a Starfleet character in a Starfleet uniform. It definitely felt right on my KDF though :)

    Loving my revamped Negh'Var

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 07:15 PM PDT

(Spoilers) Anyone else confused / surprised by the plot in the new episodes?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 05:04 AM PDT

Upfront: Excellent episodes. In terms of length and production values, the "feature" feel was really there.

.That said.... is anyone else getting a "Divide et Impera" vibe here?

    .

    .

So; J'mpok has turned out to be a genocidal maniac. While there will doubtless be many who are going "well of course!", to me this seems 180' from how he's been portrayed over the last 6 years. He is ruthless, of course, but is also the leader who turned the KDF into a multispecies fleet, committed the Honor Guard to Task Force Omega while the Federation war was still on, ended that war the moment the Federation came to its senses about the Undine, helped New Romulus, and has fully committed the Empire to the alliance - to the point of the new Combined Service. All of this makes him a radical progressive in Klingon terms. Of course, he's threatened by Martok's return and popularity, but it's a big jump IMO - little short of complete insanity which dwarfs even Gowron's paranoia.

Meanwhile we're trusting J'ula (who, ironically, starts the story by calling J'm'pok out for his alignment with the Federation). While J'ula is only a standard Klingon villain in STO, her introduction in the comics makes it clear she's quite possibly the most self-serving, ruthless and deceptive Klingon in beta canon - the antithesis to T'kuvma's selflessness.

So while it's possible this is all a setup to rehabilitate J'ula's followers - and allow playable DSC Klingons - as well as reinstalling Martok as Chancellor. But it seems a distinct possibility that the PCs are being played monumentally with J'ula seeking to install Martok as a puppet Chancellor.

Going to be very interesting to see how this plays out...

EDIT: Have just seen a theory that J'm'pok was trying to make it look like J'ula blew up Khitomer (with Martok conveniently present) to eliminate two foes at once. Aka'ar blowing up a city was just there to set a precedent. That makes some sense, I must admit, and would be in keeping with fighting a small war just to wake Starfleet up.

Ba'ul and Platinum Vanity Shield Gallery

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 08:16 PM PDT

Hey everyone, figured I'd grab some shots of each shield on various ships. I'm open to suggestions if someone wants to see some more! (Note that I do not have a lot of ships or a good Klingon roster). Overall, I'd say the Ba'ul shield is definitely nice! But it's very similar to the S31 shield just with some different paneling and is darker overall.

    Year of Klingon... Well done

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 07:17 PM PDT

I confess when I heard about the year of klingon I was excited then when I heard J'ula was involved I was ugh why. After playing the new missions.... Omg well done Cryptic. Without spoilers I absolutely love what you did with this! It is so very klingon I adore it and tied together so many story arcs. And the references to star wars and the 90s Star Trek TNG VHS board game made me squeel with delight. Well done. I am impressed. Can't wait to see where you go with this. Glory you. And your house.
