Weekend Megathread - your weekendly "all Star Trek" thread Posted: 09 Nov 2019 08:26 AM PST Welcome to the weekend!! It felt like Saturday took forever to get here, but let's kick it off with another weekend "anything goes" thread. On the weekends, we've been replacing the weekly question thread with a general Star Trek discussion thread. A few points of note:
Happy chatting! -Talon [link] [comments]
If the Iconians conquered the Galaxy... Posted: 09 Nov 2019 01:15 AM PST They would sooner be up in their necks against the Hurq. Then it starts to feel like the Proteus vs. the Zerg. [link] [comments]
Any Devs reading STO Reddit: Are bug reports actually being generated in-game? Posted: 09 Nov 2019 07:36 AM PST It has been more than a month, possibly longer, since I have seen a ticket number generated when I submit a bug report. I have passed this info through GM in game but not sure if that actually reaches the Devs. I do know the GM reporting still does generate a ticket number. Just another technical issue that has been going on way too long. Update: GM response: Bug report reports do not (or no longer, since they did in the past) generate ticket numbers since Devs cannot respond directly to the large number being received [my words]. Questions about leaving TFOs and penalties Posted: 08 Nov 2019 05:31 PM PST Is there any sort of vote to abandon or anything? I was just in Khitomer Vortex Advanced. DPS was low before 2 people bailed. I was determined to tough it out regardless. Spent about 30 minutes with the remaining engineer and science officer plinking down the structures. Boss spawned, and there was just no way to outdamage the shield regen with the constant cloaking with what we had. Engineer bailed at this point. The other science officer was nonresponsive to communication. Despite my best efforts, I still wound up with a 30 minute penalty. Every other game I'm aware of has mechanisms to acknowledge a "lost cause", whether that's by a vote to abandon or not penalizing people for leaving an encounter that's missing half the team. Does this game have anything like that? This turned into a waste of an hour, and it almost seems like I would have been better off bailing at the start like the others. [link] [comments]

Things on STO PS4 that still need to be fixed Posted: 08 Nov 2019 03:27 PM PST There are a bunch of things still on STO on PS4 that need to be fixed and they don't seem to want to listen. 1->In the exchange there is the thing where when you select a filter in the begging and add text, the filter resets after you want to re search. We have to have it as memory where it stays in the place you put it instead of having me re select the category that doesn't make any since. This also is the case with the TFO menu filter too. 2->The raido menus are all messed up still and I know I have complained about this numerous times over the years. It makes no since and I think the only reason they force us to use these that don't hardly work is just because they dumped a bunch of man hours into it and don't want to change it at all. We need to have it so we can have them activate automatically as much as possible, not have us keep having to go in there and activate the abilities it's very stupid doing that. Why hasn't anybody else make a big to do and complain as much about this I don't have any idea it's very annoying to me anyway. 3-> Bosun whistle when a que pops would be nice like the PC version 4-> The research boxes in the exchange that people are putting up for huge amounts they think that people will buy them thinking they will win a ship when opening them, when really it's just a regular box. Come on guys we need to add to what the traits and boxes contain on the tool tips so we know what all these things do. [link] [comments]
Question about Event Campaigns Posted: 08 Nov 2019 07:29 PM PST I'm still relatively new to STO and I was just wondering with the current Event Campaign going on, how often they release the new featured events. I throughly enjoyed the Kobiashi Maru, and would love to get the final reward. [link] [comments]
Carrier Tutorial for newer players Posted: 08 Nov 2019 10:55 AM PST https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=776z1XQ2xA4 Good day to you all. The above link directs you to a video tutorial on the basics of Carrier combat in STO. It was made with the intent that newer players that are interested in Carriers get a feel fow how they play as well as small tips and tricks on how to maximize your abilities as a carrier, like out of battle launching and autofiring pets. This does not go super deep into stuff like consoles and traits, literally just to test the waters out with carriers and getting everyone interested up to speed. I plan on making a more in-depth tutorial in a couple weeks so an constructive criticism you guys may have would be helpful. I hope this does not break rule 8 and good luck to every aspiring Carrier captain! [link] [comments]
Non-Typical Reputation Question Posted: 08 Nov 2019 04:45 PM PST A little background about my captains, first. Each captain gets a signature ship. A ship only they fly permanently, though the others can fly them to unlock the traits. Their signature ship is their main ship and the one used most often. I also give each captain 'reputation ships'. These ships can be any non-signature ship, but must be decked out fully in a single reputation. So when 'finished', each captain has 15 ships: 1 signature ship, 13 reputation ships and a shuttle. I've noticed that lately I've been repeating ships and reputation choices and it's starting to annoy me. For example, 3 of my captains have the Omega rep on escort pilots. So, I come to you for help and advice. Using the 3 careers, how would you categorize each reputation, and which class of ship would pair with each reputation? The category is for how you think that reputation should/would be played, and the ship class is how you feel that reputation is best represented in ship form. For instance: Omega Rep:Tactical, Science Scout, would say play aggressively and that the equipment is best suited for a sci scout ship. That's just an example. Give me your combinations! Quark's Lucky Seven Leck Accolade Posted: 08 Nov 2019 11:49 AM PST I've finally been playing the Gamma missions on my Jem'Hadar, and I played through the Quark one last night. I was easily able to get every other accolade available from the mission, except this one. The accolade requires you to take no damage while playing as Leck. Easy enough except for one part, the first Harbinger. You have to hide behind walls as it patrols back and forth, and then "assassinate" it. The problem is, even with scoring a critical flank on the Harbinger, nothing you have is enough to kill it in a single shot. It always has time to turn around and attack you, and you end up taking damage. Did anyone manage to get this accolade, and if so, how? [link] [comments]
Specialization skills... passive or active? Posted: 08 Nov 2019 10:43 AM PST I've gotten a whole bunch of specialization skills at this point - a mix of Strategist and Intelligence. But, how do I activate them? Or do I? Are they passive? If active, how do I bring them down to a tray so I can get them going, or use them appropriately? [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Nov 2019 12:57 PM PST I've got a couple master keys, and while it's unlikely I'll be getting more anytime soon, I am curious what's the best choice for me to do with them. I do have some older lock boxes for what it's worth, but I don't expect to luck out and get the good draws from those. Advice appreciated! [link] [comments]
