As a recently new player who liked the game but felt the plots a little lacking, I just finished the gamma quadrant Hurq storyline, and OMG was it amazing!

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 03:19 AM PDT

Maybe it's because I'm a DS9 fanboy, but oh my god I feel like I just got another season of DS9 that I've been waiting 20 years for! The build up, the twists, the back story — oh, and that ending! The dialog after the last mission!

Is it just me and my love for DS9, or was this not the best STO episode yet? I've only completed about 6-8 of the mission arcs so far. What others are as good?

Event Campaign 2 - question about progress availability

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 06:03 AM PDT

Hello, all. This is the first event campaign I'm playing, so I'm not entirely sure how this works.

I finished the 14 days of the TFO for the featured event and earned 700 points of progress toward the overall event campaign, but running the featured event a 15th time (bonus days for dilithium) I'm still at only 700 for the campaign.

Is it possible to get extra days from this event as a buffer against days missed in the 3 events to come? If so, if there a countdown similar to the featured event timer that says when the campaign points are available again? I don't see one on that page or in the task force cooldowns list.

I just want to make sure that missing one day of an event later would not mess up the whole campaign this year.

    Thanks!

    Cutscenes in "Empress Sela" broken

    Hi,

something broke in the "Empress Sela" cutscenes:

Seems like the graphics engine can't handle yet another alpha channel/image transparency?

    Games with Bridge Officers/Companions

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 09:21 AM PDT

Hello all! I played sto a couple of years ago on ps4, and am itching to dive back in.

One thing I really enjoyed in sto was finding new Bridge Officers, leveling them up and training them, and coming up with different builds using the parts I had. I also liked the feeling of being a leader in a larger team, who all exist on this one ship. Picking and choosing who I wanted to use when the time was right.

I think this kind of system runs pretty similar to the companions of Mass Effect and The Outer Worlds, but I find them both lacking on the ship to ship combat front.

I've been playing Elite: Dangerous recently and having lots of fun with that. But that seems more based in dogfighting and direct control rather than building up a suite of unique abilities and combining them against your opponents.

I've downloaded Star Trek Timelines, and it seems to have a bit of what I'm looking for, but also seems right now to play more into a pure gatcha game rather than role-playing/strategy game.

I was just curious if anyone else has found any other games where you recruit a crew to build out the capabilities of your ship, similar to stop.

Does anyone else want Discovery Klingons?

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 10:12 AM PDT

I often support the addition of other discovery species in the game, mostly Tellarite lol, but does anyone else think that the Discovery Klingons would be an excellent addition? I know that it would be hard to craft new starting campaign for them which would take a good amount of time so I understand why it they haven't made an appearance yet. Just a thought.

    Let's discuss AlienGEN issue ...

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 06:30 PM PDT

Long long long ago when I first tried STO, back when it had a monthly fee, the Alien Race option had a billion +2 choices to make your character out of. You could do almost anything with it. Then when I actually decided to start playing STO / give it a serious second try, a lot of these options had been removed.

For years I've contemplated what a bad move this was and for years, I've always had the same thought.

Bring back options, and if you are concerned about players making look-alikes of races that cost money, then have the alien race gen options based on how many races a player has unlocked just like how uniforms work.

I can't be the only one who had these thoughts here right?

Neat idea for a future episode/arc

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 03:37 PM PDT

    DS9, Season 7:

Ezri Dax: The Klingon Empire is dying... and in my opinion, it deserves to die.

This is just a rough idea but here we go. During the Iconian War, the Klingon Empire was forced to cooperate with the Federation and Romulan Republic far more than it did in the past (ie, all the cross-faction stuff). This exposed them to Federation ideals, not to mention the devastation the war caused. That, combined with J'mpok's reluctance to fight the Hur'q (and Martok's enthusiasm for it), could make a few things happen:

-A good ole Klingon Civil War, probably fought between House Martok and J'mpok's forces. It would be a fun arc to play for KDF players, and of course the Romulans/Federation could try some covert stuff to support one side or another. It would also be interesting if they could work in an option to choose a side.

-An increased Gorn Separatist movement. We saw them on Nimbus III, and still see them in Deep Space Encounters. They've never been much of a threat, but given the Empire's stagnation after the Iconian War (and possibly the civil war listed above), the Gorn people could make a legitimate attempt to break away. They could work in some special stuff (special dialogue for example) for Gorn players, who would have to crush a revolt led by their own people.

Some of the stuff I mentioned would probably be too difficult. Nonetheless, I think it's a cool idea worth considering.

Klingon Sechs Escort: worth the money?

Has anyone played with the Klingon Sechs Escort? What do you think? Any good? I was thinking about buying it but wanted to check before I spend the money.

A few questions from a newbie

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 12:50 PM PDT

So I only got this game about a week ago and I'm hugely enjoying it but I have a few questions that might have really simple answers but any help would be appreciated

-Can you get a bandolier like Worf wears on TNG for Klingon Starfleet officers? I got my first Klingon bridge officer yesterday and it would be a nice touch for the uniform

-When do you start earning zen? I really don't want to have to pump real money into the game and would love to know when abouts I can start earning some to unlock stuff like ship customisation

-Is there a way to get Kelvin Timeline ships? I can't see any in the ship vendor stuff at earth space dock/ds9 but I've seen other players flying them and would love to know how to get my hands on at least the kelvin enterprise

As I said sorry if these are really simple questions but there's a lot to this game and the game itself isn't doing a huge amount to answer them
