| It's really time to give Carriers some love... Posted: 15 Feb 2020 03:43 AM PST Ever since Flight Deck Carriers were introduced it would seem the standard Carriers are falling behind other ships. They're slow, have limited weapons, and don't benefit from other classes' perks (no secondary defletor, cruiser commands, just useless subsystem targeting). Not only that, but there aren't many ships of that class outside of Lobi Store and Lockboxes. Not to mention, many of them are T5, with no T6 variant available. The obvious example would be the Klingon Vo'Quv, or the Federation Atrox. Romulans don't have any kind of Carrier of their own aside from the Lockbox only T'laru. One of the better and most fun Carriers is the Dominion Vanguard Carrier, which is unique thanks to the Vanguard mechanic and 4:2 weapon layout, making it stand out a bit. But that's just a single ship. Let's be honest - the game's primary source of income are the ships. And even with the release of the Legendary Bundle it seems like it's all getting repetitive. So why not focus on Carrier-type ships for a while, for both C-Store and Promo releases? Tweak their mechanics a bit and perhaps introduce a brand new Specialization? A space only Spec that focuses on Carrier ships and a new class of Carriers. Cryptic could either update the standard Carriers to include a third Hangar Bay, or give a similar feature to the new Carrier-spec'd class (like the Miracle Worker ships have additional console). The new Specialization boff abilities could focus on buffing friendly pets or ships, or even summon additional ones. I mean, aside from Cryptic having other plans I don't see how this wouldn't be beneficial. A new ship class, a reason to update and release the previously mentioned T6 Vo'Quv, Atrox etc. Perhaps the specialization could be extended to include Strike-Wing Escorts in the future? I really enjoy Carriers. They're fun when done correctly, but they really fall behind other ships. The Flight Deck Carriers update made the class way more desirable. So please Cryptic, do something similar for the standard Carriers. [link] [comments] | ||

| Small gem in the Legendary Ship Bundle Posted: 15 Feb 2020 06:41 AM PST This console has been slept on in the past, since it was from an infinity ship, but now it's in the Legendary Bundle aswell and is great for Phaser builds. "Console - Universal - Weaponized Helical Torsion" It's passive is 15% Cat 1 Phaser damage and 15% Critical Severity. A pretty nice console to go alongside your Tachyokinetic/Bioneural Infusion Circuits. It even has a mediocre Exotic clicky as a bonus too, if you're bothered about that. [link] [comments] | ||

It reminds me a lot of the Red Angel Temopral Bursts. The Trait itself does the following... "Temporal Anchor - Your Gravity Wells are visually distinct, deal bonus Radiation damage and disable foe abilities. Your Gravity Wells deal 20% additional damage as Radiation Your Gravity Wells have a 20% chance per sec to add 1 sec to foe Ability recharge" [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 15 Feb 2020 08:37 AM PST Hey all, I created a new Ferengi captain today and used a Phoenix voucher to get her a Nandi, thinking I'd equip her with the Expedited Delivery set. Unfortunately, I didn't get the Metaphasic Solar Capacitor when I opened the ship. Does the console not come with the Phoenix version of the ship, will I get it as the ship scales up, or did I run into a bug? [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 15 Feb 2020 08:11 AM PST As of one of the latest updates when using the ingame "Music Player" feature set to Winamp, the game's suddenly goes into a nasty state of "I think I am about to crash" mode where the frame rate drops to one frame per second (and the only thing that fixes it is to restart the game). For the years I have been playing STO I listen to all of my classic Star Trek soundtracks thanks to being able to control them via the in game "Music Player" feature, I'd very much like to see this fixed so that I can continue playing as I have since the launch of the game. I was going to end my 6 year free to play streak streak with the Sojourner Star Cruiser and create the ultimate tank. After buying the zen I found out I have the Archon Intel Assault Cruiser. I don't know when cryptic gave it to me (email?) but I paid no attention to it since I didn't want to fly a sovereign and it was when I took a break for my last year of school. With this discovery that leaves me with 2 perfectly capable tanks, and now buying a 3rd ultimate one seems excessive and pointless. Especially since farming EC and resources was WAY easier and less gimped when I started playing the game in 2014. Why have a "meta" ship and build when I could have my space barbie dream: the akira class Alita. Now I'm at a loss at whether I should get the tank that I want or the sto version of my favorite ship in Star Trek. If I buy another ship it won't be until the next sale like this. Says they are from Memory Alpha but you can't go there anymore so I am stuck with these because there is no discard option when you right click. Anyone know if there is a way to discard these? | Legendary Vs. C-Store/Promo/Lobi/Fleet versions Posted: 15 Feb 2020 08:17 AM PST So many versions of the same ships; regular, refit, retrofit, T6, Fleet, and now Legendary. I'm assuming the Legendary is the best of those from the C-store or Fleet(Galaxy, Sovereign, Intrepid, Defiant, Oddyssey) but my question is regarding character unlock versions. Is the Legendary version the best version of each ship? (Discovery, TOS Connie, Konnie, Disconnie, NX.) Or are they comparable T6 ships just with different specialty? I've spent a lot chasing the top version of all these ships over the years, and I already bought the legendary bundle, so this isn't about whether or not I should invest in upgrading. I'm satisfied with access to the new costume components. I just want to know which version I should keep slotted on my active ship list. I appreciate any thoughts, opinions, and corrections.
