- It'd be cool if the Khitomer Alliance ship had some type of buff if diplomacy boffs from other factions were manning a station. Trek was all about Captains getting results when outsiders came on board & told the crew what to do.

Posted: 22 Jan 2020 05:13 AM PST I rarely complain about downtime, but this is like the second day in a row of downtime and you know tomorrow will be another. I lost my job the other day and sto is like the one turn to that relaxes me hence the frustration. Also has anyone noticed there hasn't been a prepatch of any kind, usually one preceded a big content update. [link] [comments]
Tribble Sign Up Page still broken Posted: 22 Jan 2020 06:08 AM PST The Tribble Sign Up page where you can try to sign up for Tribble is still broken. When a player who hasn't done it before tries to sign up for it, upon pressing the sign up button, the page just refreshes and takes them nowhere. This problem has been in the game website for quite some time. The earliest I found it was from 2012. Many people have asked Arc and Cryptic for help, but get no reply. I just want to know if they're planning on fixing this error that exists on the website [link] [comments]

Skill Linking and/or Weapon Lockouts Posted: 22 Jan 2020 09:13 AM PST Okay, so I had an idea for a nice QoL change to do with skill application and weapon interaction. Basically, the idea is that you can "tag" a specific weapon, or weapons, such that they're the only ones affected by a certain skill or trait proc. For instance, a torp boat wants to fire their TS3 off their Gravi or PEP, but their Kelvin mule sucks it up because of the high RoF. Well that sucks, right? And not just because it screwed up your plan to use Entwined Tactical Matrices to fire another spread of main torpedo, or Torpedo Barrage to fire 2+ back-to-back THY attacks on a target. Now, you'd have two options. Tag the specific "heavy" torpedo you want to be affected by skills/traits, or lockout specific weapons you do not want affected by certain skills/traits. As it stands it's a bit of a crapshoot really, as to what weapons get to use a specific ability. Most of the time you wait for a specific CD to end, pop the ability, and hope you get the right weapon to fire. Well, this would eliminate that need for either luck or high micromanagement. Probably only a benefit to torp boats, but that's the most immediate application I could think of, and the one that originally spurred me to this thought. [link] [comments]
With Friends Like These... Here Are The Problems With The Klingons And The Khitomer Alliance Posted: 22 Jan 2020 01:25 AM PST I've been trying to wrap my head around the new Alliance Battlecruiser. I'm not here to insult the design or anything like that. My confusion came from how we got to this point, now 10 years on (which should be 2420) and the rollercoaster ride the UFP and KDF once again have taken. https://sto.gamepedia.com/Alliance It's honestly been some great storytelling by the STO staff, putting new wrinkles in the war-to-peace saga between the powers. That arc however, has created some issues that do need to be solved in my opinion. The Klingons Are Still An Empire And Have Pushed 4 STO Races Into Servitude In a brilliant move that Star Trek couldn't really do on television, the Klingons were finally shown to be empire building in STO. Forcing the Gorn, Orions, Naussicans, and Letheans to bend the knee or die. This should be an issue if the KDF is seemingly on the slow path to Federation partnership. How do the Klingons keep their servant races in a democratic alliance? Chancellor J'Mpok From the last blog entry, which sets up the new TFO, this guy is no friend of the Federation. He sees the Alliance as a means to an end. Scheming, conniving, he's a Klingon leader more in line with K'mpek or Duras than Martok or even a peacetime leader like Gorkon. This isn't the chancellor whose going to sign over the empire to the UFP and play nice. After 10 years, he's been written as a guy that at some point is gonna look to pull a fast one on Starfleet. Best example, leaving them high and dry against the Hurq until Martok & Worf used the sword. Clashing Styles All you have to do is look at your doff missions to understand these are 2 cultures that have almost nothing in common. Are Klingon officers going to start to challenge UFP captains to the death for command? Are Starfleet captains going to adopt a take-no-prisoners attitude? Who's Your Villain Now? The Klingons have NOT been the bad guy for years now, but now the Romulans, the Cardassians, the Iconians, and the Dominion ALL fall into that category. We're at the point Gene Roddenberry always envisioned and that's a good thing, but everyone needs a challenge -- especially in a video game! STO started in a perfect place because the UFP and KDF are such polar opposites. We need a seriously big baddie to threaten such a Massive and Powerful Galactic Alliance or things get dull fast. The Kelvans Arrive From Andromeda? The Borg Invasion From The Destiny Book Saga? An Army Of Data Knockoffs Come Out Of Star Trek Picard To Enslave The Galaxy? Maybe it's because I've been a disciple of Kirk, but part of me needs to always watch out for the Klingons. Sharing a fleet? Where's the fun in that? [link] [comments]

Skill mouse-over expanded information? Posted: 22 Jan 2020 08:00 AM PST Sorry if this is a pedestrian question but I can't find any information on it =P So I've seen some screens/videos where folks skills, when moused over, show what they do, naturally - but also show expanded information based on all the things they affect or are affected by. My mouse-over windows just show the base information for a given skill. Is there a toggle for this somewhere or some such? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Jan 2020 11:30 PM PST I just did the Brotherhood of the Sword TFO. At the entrance to one of the sections was a glowy tribble interactable item just laying on the ground, with the f-box dialog "claim IDIC tribble." I did so, and got an IDIC tribble. Is that supposed to happen? [link] [comments]

Mines and Disappearing/Invisible Enemies Posted: 21 Jan 2020 07:47 PM PST So lately, I've been fooling around with my minelayer and I entered and finished an ISE to complete the Free T6 Coupon event. However, the tac cubes disappeared/went invisible during the queue. This was brought up to the others in the TFO to see if they had the same problem. One of them said this was because of all the mines. Now I had thought this was some problem related to lag, but thinking back recently, all the times I've had disappearing/invisible enemies was when I was running my minelayer. Can anyone else using minelayer builds confirm this? Tagging /u/CrypticSpartan just in case. Also to everyone I may have run TFO's with in the last month, sorry for causing the disappearing enemies. As for now, I'm shelving the minelayer build and going back to my torp boat. [link] [comments] |
