    New Ships Sale?

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 09:37 AM PST

The post for the new 2 ship pack said they'd be on sale week of November 19-25 but I checked yesterday and Individually they're both 3000 zen and not 2400 so is this sale not happening?

    Upgrade Weekend!

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 09:31 AM PST

We should have an automatically applied loadout for ground & space specs.

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 03:33 PM PST

    For example

Ground Spec: Applies Primary Command & Secondary Commando

Space Spec: Applies Primary Intelligence & Secondary Strategist

Is the Shikaris worth it for a casual?

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 08:39 AM PST

Put simply, I don't have a lot of Gold level equipment. But a lot of the reviews I'm looking at for this ship, the players making the videos are loaded down with the stuff. That kinda skews the whole "YMMV" thing.

That said, the things I have equipped, I have equipped because they're the most satisfying for me to use. For example, my primary and secondary specs are Intel and Pilot, and barring the introduction of any Pilot escort with maneuvers and Intel seating (You'd think that would be the Valiant/Defiant, with the "Stealth Fighter" set, but nope), this Shikaris escort reads like it might play to the strengths of both of those.

Again, this is from a casual POV, but I feel like with the competitive space set and the console that buffs turn rate and speed when you're not flanking, and the few weapons I have that boost thrust when firing, I can at least pretend its a Pilot escort, while also keeping me well-rounded enough to keep from getting smooshed cos I have no idea what I'm doing.

Am I on the right track?

Did an Epic upgrade to a Krieger Pistol fail, or is there a reason for lower Damage number?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 09:39 PM PST

I'm checking with STO Reddit if I have encountered a bug/glitch, or if I simple don't understand the upgrade process and the numbers are normal.

    IN SHORT
After moving a pistol upgrade from Very Rare to Epic, the damage numbers in the Tooltips DROPPED.

DETAILS The intention was to check whether the 5% for a +25 Kit Performance boost was worth running on a ground Sci. build.

    • I upgraded a Krieger Wave Disruptor Compression Pistol.
    • Everything was fine until Mk XV, when it crossed from "Very Rare" to "Epic."
    • At the point that it became Epic, it appeared to DOWNGRADE the damage significantly.

    RESULT
    Epic Ground Weapon.
Krieger Wave Disruptor Compression Pistol Mk XV (CrtD)x2 (Dm/CritD) (Dmg)x2.
Krieger Wave Bolt Setting, Disruptor Damage, 75.7 Disruptor Damage.
    Exploit Attack of 270.2.

The part that concerns me that these damage numbers were "100+ mumble something" and went back to 75 after the rarity change.

For comparison, a Phaser Compression Pistol Mk XV (CrtD)x3 Dmg Ultra Rare Ground Weapon has Phaser Damage of 104.7 and Exploit Attack of 374 Phaser Damage. These are different mods, on a different weapon, so the comparison may be off - but the higher numbers are more in line what I was expecting the Krieger to have.

    REQUEST TO STO REDDIT
My main concern is the apparent downgrade of damage when the Quality changed from Very Rare to Epic (Or potentially from Mk XIV to Mk XV.).

Do I just not understand the upgrade process - is it possible for the Damage number to drop on an upgrade?

This may be repeatable by upgrading a Mark XII Krieger pistol of the above type and observing what happens on Tribble. Does anyone have one at Mark XIV or Mark XV levels? (Hmmm. Maybe they've repopulated on the Exchange . . . uh, didn't think of that until I wrote out this big post.)

But I don't have another one of those weapons to experiment with. :-) And I don't think I can just "buy" them on Tribble as they drop from a box.

I ran this by Support as a general ticket, and they were very quick to get back to me. They suggest that I log this as a bug.

But before I do that, I'd appreciate a sanity check. Just in case this is right, and I'm just confused.

    Thank you!

P.S. Let's ignore for the purposes of this question:

    (a) that I upgraded on Holodeck outside an Upgrade Weekend and
    (b) that the upgrade is to a non-meta weapon.

    EDIT - RESULTS

Thanks everyone who commented. Here are the findings.

    1) Be sure to be on a ground social map such as Earth Space Dock in order to see correct ground weapon stats.

    2) The Upgrade Window will display "base" results and so can be a bit of a shock to see the numbers dropped.

    3) Ground Maps such as Nukara are level scaled to 50, as many of them are, and so are not good places to view or test weapons.

    4) Double-check the obvious. Make sure you're testing what you think you're testing.

    Vic Fontaine's

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 06:22 PM PST

So I was watching Deep Space 9 and the thought occurred to me... Fontaine's hasn't appeared in STO, or path to 2409 if I'm not mistaken, and I think that is a wasted opportunity I would love to wander around Fontaine's in game as my captain. Thoughts?

    Questions about buying new ships

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 09:35 PM PST

On my federation character, I have an Assault Cruiser and have it setup to look like a typical Sovereign class starship. After leveling up my character to Fleet Admiral a few months back, I noticed that the difficulty scaling has made my Sovereign class struggle with sometimes with a negh'var. A few months before putting the game down for a while I did get the premium membership so for the first time I actually have Zen to spare.

My question is this. Should I buy the T6 Intel Assault Cruiser now? Or buy the Assault Cruiser Refit (Rank: Vice Admiral) now and use my 100% off coupon to buy the T6 Intel Assault Cruiser later?

I swear I've read somewhere that it's better to use the Assault Cruiser Refit for a while before upgrading to a T6 because the T6 will be stronger if you've used the Assault Cruiser Refit first.

Am I remembering that wrong? I feel like it would be cool to "earn" the T6 and purchase the Assault Cruiser Refit as an incremental upgrade in the meantime. At the same time, I don't want to end up wasting the zen on an incremental upgrade when that free T6 coupon is about a month away for me.

idk, a lot of this gives me anxiety lol, I feel like STO has introduced me to saving up resources to buy things that are not useful at all because I was ignorant about how a lot of things worked. But it's also so addicting and fun!

So any advice would be great.

Is there a list of costume pieces you can mix & match with other pieces anywhere?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 12:13 PM PST

A lot of the costumes are in their own category for some reason, so is there a list of costumes/unlockables for the tailor that are usable with other standard parts does anyone know?
