    Lower Decks Uniforms

Did you guys hear that these uniforms are going to the Lobi Store, personally I'd rather get these as a free promotion or at least spend Dil on these uniforms instead of stupid reroll tokens, honestly seems like a missed opportunity for a Permanent Dil Sink, hopefully the next uniforms star trek will be either be free or a Dil sink option.

The only way to stop things like the Parliament or the Inquiry being put behind a gambling wall is to stop gambling ourselves, period.

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 11:55 AM PDT

This shouldn't need to be said, but here we are. The gambling boxes, as they currently are in game, will almost always out do a c-store ship in terms of revenue. The average rate is somewhere around a .02% chance, then you add in the rarity of these ships adding a layer of mystique, and lastly, gambling addiction and there's no way a c-store can normally compete (unless a promo ship isn't super sought after like the Freedom class).

Don't believe me, then just do the math. If you sell 1,000 copies of a $30 c-store ship, you only need 30 people with a gambling addiction or more money than sense to make the exact same amount of money.

Sure, we can argue all day about the ethics of what Cryptic is doing, and they are bad. First and for most, they're preying on people with a clearly identified mental health problem, so frankly, I don't think the devs have any business taking up political causes thanks to that. But also, they're breaking understand rules and barriers between customers and the company with the addition to the Parliament and last year: the Inquiry. Regardless though, Cryptic is a business and with businesses, ethics are optional if they are not legally enforced. The one thing that is not optional? Profit

Are you upset at Cryptic over this decision? If you are, then good. Don't spend money on lock boxes and don't buy anything on the exchange that is lockbox related (somebody has to open them. Regardless of whether that person is you, you are still feeding the problem). Spend money on direct c-store items if you want, because those don't seem to be the thrust of the complaint. But seriously, if we want this to stop, then we need to make a point about boxes by not allowing them to contribute to the bottom line

This will take time too. It won't fix itself with a quick boycott or some angry posts and tweets. It will require diamond hands on the part of players, but that'll give everyone the intended result

I'm not holding my breath in anticipation though.

    Question from the crew

    Need Advice for Bridge Officers

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 08:15 AM PDT

I just created a Temporal Recruit, and wanted to a Muppets-themed crew. I have a Tactical Tellarite captain (that's \MISS\** Fleet Admiral Piggy, to you, buster!), a tactical Caitian for Animal, an engineering hologram for Beaker, and a science android for Dr. Bunsen Honeydew.

I plan on maxing out my Diplomacy so that I can get a Gorn bridge officer for Kermit. My question is what position (tactical, engineering, or science) should I use for him?

Also, I want to possibly get Gonzo and Fozzy as bridge officers. What species and roles should I use for them? Maybe Andorian for Gonzo, but how to do the nose?

This is mainly going to be just a "for shits and giggles" toon, not really going for DPS (though would be nice). Going to try to also have a Risian theme going (because I could so see Miss Piggy being into Risa). Main ship will be the Risian Pilot Corvette.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

TOS-ifying ships or: how I learned to stop worrying and love hull type 0

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 01:12 PM PDT

Playing with my new temporal recruit (haven't gone forward in time yet) and I decided to commission some ships that weren't futuristic but not strictly TOS ships and make them look era appropriate. I have to say I was impressed with the results the L NX-refit, L Crossfield, L Disco and Kelvin Connies all work pretty well with type 0 plating and TOS looking nacelles where appropriate. Plus the Jeffries skin for the L Connie has grown on me, I don't know if it's replaced the TMP look for my favourite Connie but it's close.

I'm looking forward to seeing what 24th/25th century ships look like when I try the same when I get there. Anyone else been trying this with their temporal agemts?

This just occurred to me, when you're in space why does the 'gas' or whatever venting from damaged ships always billow 'upwards'?

    Alt Friendliness idea

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 06:14 AM PDT

Just thinking this is as I level up another toon, I came up with some ideas of breaking up the grind of going through the same story missions again and again. Would love to hear your thoughts.

    1) First random space and ground TFA, as well as Patrol (so three separate bonus opportunities) you queue for every 20 hours rewards a huge chunk of XP for toons under level 65, sort of like how its set up now, just more focused on XP for alts than just dil/marks. (think of Final Fantasy 14's dungeon roulette, if you're familiar with it)

    2) Create a "random patrol" button just like there is with the TFAs currently, that also rewards extra dil/marks/rewards just like the TFA does. That way players might be exposed to patrols they don't normally queue for. I've also noticed there a bunch of older patrols out there not in the patrols list. Might as well throw them in there while we're at it to add variety.

    3) Opening up admiralty to toons earlier. Either at the same time as doffing, or if devs might think thats too much systems overload, maybe at level 20?

    4) Heirloom gear similar to WoWs that can be purchased with dil (dil sink!) that rewards bonus XP
