    Posted: 25 May 2021 07:50 PM PDT

To make your reports more useful, please try to follow the following template:

    __

Platform: Are you playing on PC, Playstation or XBox?

Character/Account: What character and account the bug was encountered with.

Bug/Issue Description: Describe the bug in as much detail as possible, ideally including both what should happen versus what does happen.

Steps to Reproduce: Assuming the bug is reproducible, what steps must be taken to re-encounter it. As basic and 'algorithmic' as possible.

Additional Media: If there is any supporting media to describe or 'prove' the bug, images or video, they go here.

    __

This is meant to help your bugs be identified and hopefully fixed quicker, as well as remove some of the clutter/duplicate reports we often see in the megathread which only hinder its usefulness.

As always, please also submit bug reports through the official channels.

Am I the last one to know that upon hailing a certain USS Sally Ride near Nerendra system in Beta quadrant, you'll get a free admiralty card? And you can regularly check up on her captain and she'll report what's new in this sector.

Episode length grew way too long

    Posted: 26 May 2021 12:11 AM PDT

I take the time to read the dialogues and I play the game at normal. I'm playing the final episode on a second account with a level 65 toon with level appropriate gear. I see myself as a casual player. Yet, so far, I've spent over two hours in this single episode alone. At each and every single phase, I had to comb the whole map to find where the last foe was hiding, and twice it was inside the walls and I had to wait for the mortars to deal with them. And now I've been stuck on the Aakaar ever re-spawning phase for about half a hour.

I'm starting to wonder. Do the devs know we have a live outside of the game? Episodes from the first couple arcs take between 5 and 30 minutes. Breen arc episodes take about 20 minutes. I know arc finales normally take longer. For example, Home is excruciatingly long, especially as many players have to run it 4 times to get all the rewards. But 2 hours and counting for a single is unreasonable. Yeah, I know they balance the game on those high end super duper FPS guys that spawn, kill anything with an agony field, F-F-F-F-F, agony field, F-F-F-F-F and repeat. Episode done, next. Let them have ever respawning countless minions in the foundry while we play reasonable length content oriented episodes.

Space weapons broken since last patch.

    📷

This is my first time using reddit but I have to report this. Since yesterday some space weapons go off in the middle of combat.

They stop firing. Reloging fixes it but as soon as the battle progresses, they go white again and stop being usable. It happened to me on ISA when killing the gateway on a character, on another on the first transformer.

Other players report the same issue. I've started noticing yesterday, but it may happen before, I don't know.

Dear Cryptic, Please let me settle my score with J'Ula in some future episode.

    Posted: 26 May 2021 02:50 AM PDT

Don't get me wrong. I liked A Day Long Remembered and I liked the civil war. The duel pistols with melee option are my new favorite weapon.

But I really really REALLY wanted a chance to kill J'Ula and her hero ship that would constantly warp away after reaching 10% health.

I know J'Ula is going to be a regular ally from now on and that her and L'Rell are basically set up to be the Worf / Martok team we never got to see.

But that said, It's a video game. Please give us a future episode where we take J'Ula out or at the very least her ship.

My blood and all the mushrooms of the multiverse cry out for vengeance!

I'm not too picky on how you do it. An alternate timeline, a simulation, mirror universe J'Ula, it's all good!

If you wanted to keep this J'Ula / L'Rell = Worf / Martok thing going, maybe you could make mirror J'Ula like mirror Worf and mirror Archer were.

Petty and small versions of themselves. Or maybe since mirror Tilly is still out there she finds mirror J'Ula and join forces to take over the empire or something.

Anyway, my point is i'm not picky. It doesn't need to be Shakespeare. But I would like another crack at J'Ula just one more time. For now, my Dahar master will bide his time and wait for his opportunity.

Symbiotic Ice Personal Trait: Preliminary performance tests and discussion

Symbiotic Ice Personal Trait: Preliminary performance tests and discussion

TL;DR - Seems contribute about as much as the Gre'thor's Fire ship trait, which is to say not a lot, but at least it does not take up a whole starship trait slot.

Let's start with the in-game description and tooltip for this ship trait:

Value remains the same whether viewed in space or ground.

The beam build used to test this trait:

Basically a Ba'ul Antiproton Beam Overload + Fire At Will build. No Cold Damage Sources.

DPS contribution of this trait in 3 Patrol scenarios:

    Wanted (Argala System), Elite difficulty

Trouble Over Terrh (Terrh System), Advanced difficulty

Rescue And Search (Kern System), Elite difficulty

So across 3 patrols, without any +Cold Damage sources, its contribution seems to be about 0.7-0.8% of the total DPS. (Symbiotic Ice does not appear under 'Pets' damage when I checked)

In terms of absolute value, that sounds low. But I don't quite know how it stacks against a Personal Trait that increases your CrtH/CrtD like Adaptive Offense, in terms of impact to one's build.

I didn't know how to post a gallery that people can just click an arrow to view the images, but I threw together a collection of screenshots of all my ships with the Discovery Refit Vanity Shield

I try not to spend credits on frivolous things, but I figured I might as well buy this before it shoots up to Section 31 Vanity Shield prices.

Sometimes it's hard to believe they can miss something so...obvious (J'Ula ending)

    Posted: 26 May 2021 07:04 AM PDT

Clearly a lot of folks are not happy with how the J'Ula story ended (for now). And rightfully so, TBH. "Bad person does bad things and gets to skate" is not good writing.

But there is a 'simple' way to deal with a character like J'Ula: let them die sacrificing themselves to save someone. They "pay the price" for their crimes by dying, but if your goal is to 'redeem' them you also get to do that by having them go out doing something good.

It's such a clear way to handle this type of character/story, it's hard to believe they didn't understand it. And before anyone says it, yes they could do that in the future. But there are at least 2 problems with that: 1) people are tired of her and don't even want to see her again, and 2) her entire story was about the Empire, and the climax to YOK was clearly the time to wrap that character up.

IDK, it's just sad the writers/devs who made the story decisions did it so badly when they could have simply done 'what had to be done' and ended the story in a way that actually worked.

    New missions need better checkpoints.

    Posted: 26 May 2021 02:21 AM PDT

Got all the way to the last bit of the Mycelial Realm of the first of the new missions, at which point the game lost connection and booted me back to the login screen. And when I got back in, instead of starting me off back at that final point, it starts me off at the very beginning of the Mycelial Realm ground mission. Shouldn't have to effectively replay the whole stage just because you d/c'd at the last objective of it.

Zen promo on ARC and EPIC, math comparison.

    Posted: 26 May 2021 08:19 AM PDT

Hello fellow captains. Both arc and Epic are making a zen sale. I've done the math and if you buy the 49.99€ pack from each site, you get 6930 zen for 49.99€ on ARC and 5300 zen for 35.99€. However, each zen on ARC will cost you 0.72€, but on Epic each zen will cost you 0.68€. Stay sharp captains!

Relatively new player and i must say...

    Posted: 26 May 2021 10:07 AM PDT

The character/story arcs for each character class is very impressive, especially for STO's year of release. I spent literally 3 hours making 4 or 5 new characters just to see the beginning cutscenes/differences between each class/species. I love how a few of the selection allow you to pick specific species like the Gorn or Andorians or even create your own species. I just wanted to acknowledge how impressed i am with the character creation system, the only thing is that on the xbox, it has a hard time with memory and moves a bit laggy at certain points like in the head section where there is a lot of choices.

Most TV-Accurate Beam for Jem'Hadar Ships?

Most TV-Accurate Beam for Jem'Hadar Ships?

Hi folks! Quick preface: Forgive me, for I am a space barbie.

I wanted to see what y'all think the most TV-accurate beams are for Jem'Hadar ships. Right now I'm running phased polaron beams on my Jem'Hadar ships for the sake of canon, but they are much too purple... I think the Dominion polaron beams are too purple as well.

Anyways, I've taken several pictures I found on Google from DS9 and a short video (containing spoilers, for those who haven't seen it) from S3E21, "The Die is Cast." There is also an image and video from STO containing in-game beam visuals.

In the pictures & video from the show, you will see the beams are a pale blue with a tinge of purple, and they have a slight pulsating effect. In-game, I think tetryon beams might provide the most screen-accurate visual, though it kinda bothers me that the ship would no longer be using polaron.

After looking through some video of tetryon beams in-game, I find that diffusive & destabilizing look the most accurate. Destabilizing has the very slight purple hue that is seen in the pictures, while diffusive has the darker blue seen in the video (and sounds awesome).

Regular tetryon and hyper-refracting seem like close 3rd/4th to me.

Now for the pictures & videos. The first image will be a list I found that have static visuals of quite a few beams in-game. The following images will be from the show. First video will be a scene from the aforementioned episode of DS9, and the second video will be most (if not all) of the beams demonstrated in-game. It will be set to start at the tetryon section.
