Star Trek Online I still have no idea how Dabo actually works, but I went from 9000 GPL to over a million in one go, so that’s something (slight overkill, only needed 500 for the endeavour)

Dear Cryptic, THIS Does Not Count As Informing Thousands Of Players You've Botched Up The Traits 3 Times In Less Than 3 Months... THIS Is Pathetic And We Deserve Better As Paying Customers. Have Some Guts And Say Something.

All loadouts are also invalid, and switching to an invalid one empties the new one you just made.

All loadouts are also invalid, and switching to an invalid one empties the new one you just made.

So in the example above, I created the support loadout above, I also made a support backup loadout as I guessed this would happen. Switching to any of the other loadouts results in empty traits. Switching back to one you may have just setup, in this case Support was done AFTER a retrain, empties that new loadout too.

Basically all loadouts are broken on all ships on all characters.

    Have fun, thanks Craptic.

PSA: Elite Lost Souls of Gre'thor fixed now (Undocumented change?)

PSA: Elite Lost Souls of Gre'thor fixed now (Undocumented change?)

About 6 months ago, I posted a DPS comparison between the Basic and Elite versions of the Lost Souls of Gre'thor hangar pet, and it showed the Elite version to be grossly under-performing compared to the Basic ones.

With the release of the new T6 Gok'tad, I decided to test if that was still the case. It does not appear to be so anymore:

Test 1: 9th Rule Patrol (Elite difficulty)

Test 2: 9th Rule Patrol (Adv. difficulty)

Test 3: Trouble Over Terrh Patrol (Adv. difficulty)

    Postscript:

    Methodology:

    • Test scenarios: System patrols "The Ninth Rule" and "Trouble over Terrh")
    • Difficulty: Elite or Advanced (stated above)
    • Ship used: Fek'ihri Fe'rang Dreadnought Carrier
    • Hangar pets: 1 hangar bay of regular Lost Souls & 1 hangar bay of the Elite Lost Souls
    • Player Faction & Career: Federation Engineer

    Control points/remarks:

    • No pet boosting personal traits slotted, such as Holographic Mirage Decoys or Wing Commander.
    • No pet boosting ship traits slotted, such as Coordinated Assault or Superior Area Denial.
    • No pet boosting consoles equipped, such as Swarmer Matrix.
    • No hangar pet related Duty Officers in Active Duty.
    • Both hangar pets were fully deployed before starting the engagement in each patrol scenario.

    CRAPTIC!!!!!

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 06:22 PM PST

Come on, Cryptic. It's time there was another way to get Winter Epohh Tags. PvP is unfun.

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 02:45 AM PST

MMORPGs that were not designed for PvP from the ground up are bad at PvP.

STO is not such an MMORPG. And even if it were, the PvP involved in the winter (and summer) events is not fun nor conductive to happy gameplay.

Look, these races are a straight-up gear and latency check. It can be boiled down to how many Endeavors the player has completed and how many EC/dilithium/marks they've invested. To the best of my knowledge, these are the properly 'meta' things to be done to max out sprint speed:

    1. Burnham's CQC Armor/Envirosuit: +15% Run Speed

    2. Hostile Environment Shield: +20% Run Speed while shields are full (they will never be not full when doing the PvP race)

    3. [Run] weapon: +15% Run Speed

    4. Command Spec primary or secondary: +5% Run Speed

    5. Maquis Guile Ground Trait: +10% Run Speed

    6. Coalition Squad Tactics (Tac only): +3% Run Speed

    7. Close Quarters Combatant Ground Rep Trait (Rank II): +3.8% Run Speed

    8. Physical Conditioning Ground Rep Trait (Rank II): +6.3% Run Speed

    9. Ketracel White buff (Jem'hadar Only) +25% Run Speed

    10. Research Lab Combat Boost (Rank III) +10% Run Speed

    11. Sprint Speed Rank 15 Endeavor Boost: +15% Run Speed

    12. Terran Fortune Tribble +5% Run Speed However the Winter Tribble dramatically increases acceleration.

    13. Winter Tribble: Greatly increases acceleration on ice

    14. Frosted Boots: +7% Run Speed but greatly reduces acceleration and traction.

To get the benefits of both the Terran Fortune Tribble and the Winter Tribble, it is best to be in the vicinity of someone who uses the Winter Tribble AoE buff, since it applies that buff to everyone as an additional buff. Then you can use your own Terran Fortune Tribble to get +5% speed and retain the ice acceleration.

It is clear, then, that victory in the winter race is largely dependent upon your gearing for it. If you're facing a Jem'hadar Tac who has otherwise geared properly, only a Caitian or a Ferasen, who have the option of leaping over some obstacles that the Jem'hadar must navigate around, can possibly compete. Everyone else is left in the dust.

So, I would propose that it is high-past time to rework this event so that it is not a PvP match:

Make it a "Group Time Trial." A number of race-pace Epohhs are released: if you beat the fastest one, you get the full twelve tags. Beat the second-fastest one and get six tags. Beat the slowest one and get three tags. Come in after the slowest one, and get only two.

Alternatively, or additionally, add some extra winter doff jobs that grant winter tags, or make other events grant winter tags randomly.

Finally, some new ships in ESD!

Can we get the skill tree be free to respec forever or to work in similar way as the specialization trees? And all skills to be able to be filled now that we are at level 65? Or at least just have 1 click per skil and confirm selection button at bottom?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 05:51 PM PST

Too many times we got invalid skills respec again issue, could we now at least select all skills? The tree was made when there was level 50 available, now we're 15 levels higher, so we should get at least 15 more skills to slot, no?

Or a fix that doesn't ask us confirm on every single skil, can we just select the ones we want, and just click confirm at bottom?

And for traits to not unslot would be great as well...

Possibly a dumb question about starship skins.

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 04:34 AM PST

First post here, yay!! Ok, so I have the Fleet t6 Temporal Escort (USS Solus 😛), and it's awesome. I know it's not the best, but I like it.

Now, if I were to pour the dilithium into buying the t3 Perseus type temporal escort, would that unlock the 23rd century skin for my fleet t6 ship?

The wiki was unhelpful, and I'd rather spend the dil on phoenix packs if the 23rd century skin won't unlock.

    PSA: Loadouts are Broken Again!

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 12:44 PM PST

As I'm sure most of us are already painfully aware, the most recent update to STO once again made all our characters' skills invalid. Many will also remember that the last time this happened was because of the updates made to the ship loadout system that allowed us to save Personal Space/Starship Traits to them.

Well, when those loadout system updates were made I went through the trouble of re-saving the loadouts for all my ships on my most played characters. Each of these characters have 15-20 active ships, so the process was rather tedious. Frustratingly, it seems the latest "skills invalid" debacle has now broken those newly-saved loadouts.

After fixing my skills on these characters, any time I switch between their various ships/loadouts all of my Personal Space/Starship Traits unslot. This means I now have to go through the pain of re-slotting said traits and then re-saving every single one of my ships' loadouts YET AGAIN, which will easily take 30+ minutes PER CHARACTER!

To say I'm annoyed would be a massive understatement, as I'm actually on the verge of tears thinking about how much time I'm gonna have to waste fixing all my characters now. Considering this is the third time we've gotten the "skills invalid" error in as many months, I fear the possibility that this'll become a regular ordeal. For all our sakes, I hope it doesn't.

    TOS after Level 10?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 09:18 AM PST

I've been messing around with STO casually, just to get little fun Trek side action (which is to say, not for serious hardcore MMO reasons). Having a good time! I started a TOS campaign because I like the aesthetic, and had a few questions about what happens after the jump forward in time.

    1. Is the TOS campaign any different at this point, or do I basically just merge with the Federation and start doing their missions? If it's the same campaign, does it retain the "flavor" of me being a temporal agent from the past, or is the uniqueness of a TOS-specific campaign basically over?

    2. It looks like my TOS-era ship is pretty much obsolete at level 10, when I get a new strictly better ship. I see that I can buy a TOS-era interior with real money--is that, I assume, the only way to keep the old school aesthetic on my ship?

    3. If I want to keep my crew dressed the same, I have to buy TOS starfleet uniforms for any officers I get after the time jump? 🙄

    Disco toon can't forward roll?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 08:20 AM PST

Does anyone else have this issue?

I learned (the hard way) in the Fastest Game on Ice, that my Disco Toon cannot do the forward roll. I haven't done any keybind changes to the toon, and it's keys are exactly the same as all of my other toons.

Unable to log in to certain characters?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 09:20 PM PST

I was logging into my various characters to spend some time updating winter outfits for all of them. I do have 22 characters as I enjoy making separate characters for builds, but I can only log into maybe half of them. The rest just sit on "Loading" on the character select screen. I can't even hit "Play." It doesn't seem to be affecting a specific faction either, as my jem'hadar as well as several federation and a kdf and romulan character are affected too

    Has anyone else encountered this?
