    The Nyberite Alliance-idea for next year's summer ship?

    It was mentioned in a stream that the summer ship next year may NOT be a T6 version of the Risian Cruise ship. An idea percolating in my mind would be introducing a cruiser from the Nyberite Alliance, a minor power mentioned by Worf in S4 of DS9 when evaluating post-Starfleet career plans, stating they are always eager for experienced officers. This could a perfect blank slate for a captain who wants to RP a disillusioned type who's attempting to survive beyond the Big Three's reach

    Or they could maybe turn the luxury cruiser into a repurposed dreadnought, complete with armed versions of leisure shuttles.

    Updating old TFO mark rewards

    So a few days ago I posted a thread about ways to improve older TFOs mechanically. As part of playing the TFOs to gather data, I also kept track of rewards to see how good/bad they rewarded. And, to no one's surprise, many of the older TFOs reward like ass.

    The more recent TFOs, Lukari, Gamma, Cooperative, Discovery, Picard, typically reward around 75-140marks, depending on the complexity. Many of the older ones... you are lucky to get even 50 marks out of them.

    Many of the older TFOs don't give a breakdown on how marks are determined, so it can be tricky to guess what math is being used, but in cases where I know what it is, I will list it alongside the improvement.

    I'm using the reward payout of 75 marks(without daily bonus) for Defense of Starbase One, and the revamped Infected Space, as the lower bar for advanced TFO's payouts.

    Out of the TFOs I was able to get into, here are the game's worst offenders.(Again, this is on advanced)

    Azure Nebula

    • The current math is 1 mark per each point worth of ship saved, and 10 marks for each of the two bonuses. Total mark reward on a good day, assuming RNG doesn't screw you over, is about 45-50 marks.
    • Improved math. Change the 1/2/3 point ships into 2/3/4 points each. 20 marks for completing the TFO(20-30 marks is typical of newer TFOs) Give out 1 mark per ship point. Keep the optionals at 10 marks each. At around 30-40 points worth of ships saved on average, this would make the max reward around 70-80 marks.

    Borg Disconnected

    • While I don't have the exact math for this one, I got all of 60 marks for completing all three ship saving bonuses, and killing all the dreds within the normal time frame, and the bonus time frame.
    • New mark reward payout. 30 marks for completing the TFO, 15 marks for each of the three ship saving optionals, 10 marks for killing all three dreds in time, and another 15 for killing all three in the bonus time. This would bring the total possible mark payout to 100 marks.

    Undine Infiltration

    • Current math is 15 marks for TFO completion, 1 mark per right accusation, 10 marks for completing the optional objective. Total reward is 35 marks.
    • Improved math. 20 marks for TFO completion. 4 marks per right accusation. 10 marks for the optional objective. Total reward is 70 marks.

    Viscous Cycle

    • Exact math is unclear on this one. But the max reward on advance seems to be around 35 marks.
    • Improved version. 20 marks for TFO completion. 10 for each bonus. 1 for each Undine Larva killed. Total mark reward is 70 marks.

    Herald Sphere

    • The math on this TFO is bizarrely complex, and its bugged so one of the sections doesn't work right. But if you play it today you will get around 48 marks for your trouble.
    • New reward scheme. 20 marks for completing the TFO. 10 marks for the less than 15 ships bonus. 10 marks for the boss timer bonus. 5 marks for every 10 ships destroyed during that phase. 2 marks for every command ship destroyed. With 50-60 ships destroyed, and 10 command ships destroyed, max reward is around 90 marks
    • I will note I don't recall how many command ships is was common to destroy back when those spawned. If someone could tell me it would be helpful is possibly readjusting this.

    Vault Ensnared

    • Another mystery box TFO reward system. Played today, with only 40% station web happening, you will get around 47 marks.
    • New system. 20 marks for completing the TFO. 1 per Reman ship saved(10 total). 10 for destroying the bonus Tholian flagship. 10 for keeping the station below 20/40/60/80% webbed. Total mark reward is 80 marks.

    Brotherhood of the Sword is another notable offender. Played today, completing every optional, you will only get 47 marks. But I just don't even understand how the reward math works on this one, and its too easy, and theres so little to do, I can't think of something to bring it up to 70 marks and make it feel fair. to other TFOs.

    October 2nd, they announced the T6x upgrade with this note attached:

    Very soon on PC, (and quickly after on Xbox One and Playstation 4)

    4 days later, PC got House Shattered and the T6x upgrade. In one week, it will be 3 months to the day since it was launched, and we still have no idea when it will finally make its way to console.

    Which Ship for newbie Fed/Eng T5?

    I picked up STO a couple weeks ago and have been having a blast!

    Started off in an escort, but at captain I switched to science vessel after feeling like the escort became too squishy. I've been enjoying beamboating on the Intrepid, but now I have to choose my T5 ship from the promotion.

    I'm stuck wondering between the Luna, Prometheus, and Sovereign.

    I'd like to hear anyone's $0.02 on what they recommend...

    A way to have a system for account unlocks

    So I know something everyone in the community wants is the ability to make everything account unlocked. so below is my idea on a way to do it. I have a lot more details if anyone is interested but first I would like to know if this seems like a reasonable idea. Thanks in advance.

    Temporal Hideaway

    The Temporal cold war has gone hot and each player needs to find their own section of space time separated from cosmic causality. Thus the player with the help of (insert alien X) has taken a star system into a pocket universe that only they themselves can access. It is here that our captains must build the infrastructure that is needed to support them.

    The player will need to capture ships and supplies in order to build and maintain the industrial capacities that will provide a steady supply of men and materials to support the players need.

    The Temporal hideaway zone that can be accessed by each character on an account. The purpose of the temporal hideaway is to allow for a way to account unlock anything in the game. Any and all drops can be "donated" to you Temporal Hideaway, Including Dilithium Ore. At the Temporal Hideaway you can build infrastructure and go on missions that generates certain resources that grant rewards with three specific thing that can only be produced at the Temporal Hideaway: Starship Account Unlock, Console Account Unlock, Item Account Unlock. Additionally as progression through the building chains occurs we would be able to produce account bound, non-tradable, starships.

    The Temporal Hideaway has specific resources that it needs to build, power, and operate. These resources are generated by; donating resources (everything but energy credit can be donated), capturing ships, Temporal Hideaway missions (like Duty officers & Admiralty), or from buildings.

    There are multiple ways to accumulate and or accomplish any task or resource in the hideaway. One of these options will always generate federation favor: One will always generate KDF favor. This favor can be traded into faction representatives for loot boxes that contain unique (and account unlocked) things such as: A random console unlock, costume unlocks, equipment unlocks, or pet of some kind.

    As far as additional work that would be required to do this it would be fairly minimal. Since most of these things can be accomplished by using already existing architecture like the admiralty and duty officer menus. We already have most of the graphics for ship boarding away missions. The buildings could use a slightly modified fleet screen.

    A note on monetization. Obviously Cryptic needs to make money and some if not most of the things discussed here will eat into current profit margins. Obviously they could (and should) have a starter and elite pack similar to the Gamma Vanguard Pack that will allow for a one time monetization. The fact that having more characters will allow for you to have more stuff assigned to the hideaway so it would probably increase sales of character slots and be a slight incentive to buying ships since if you buy 1 ship you get it across all characters so that it has "more" effect. Additionally they could do packs similar to R&D and duty officers and tie it into weekends that give you a chance to get some of the account wide unlocks as random drops.

    Things this product would not do: produce unbound dilithium, allow you to produce Tier 6 starships, act as a massive bank/storage, be a set it and forget it for over a months time.

    How does she handle as a Dreadnought? I got the console Hydrodynamics Compensator to make her a bit more nimble...

    And how is the Bridge Layout and Starship Trait(s)?

    Currently flying the Operations Command Battlecruiser with the Elite Aeon Time Ships. And enjoying it.

    Thinking of upgrading though now... with the extra console slot and more tactical firepower the Verity has....

    Here's why. Because alting in this game has become a chore. It's not that I don't like the ships. They're awesome. I do think they're too expensive but, that's another discussion.

    Alting is just downright not fun anymore, and I used to be an altahlolic, but, between hard to get duty officers, traits, consoles like the dprm, leveling reps and specializations. alts are just an expensive waste of time and money.

    While the legendary bundle eases the issue with ships, I think if traits, lobi ships, and maybe certain duty officers you've earned through doff assignment chains or lock boxes were account wide, alting could be fun again.

    Noob. Need help. Which ship?? How many bridge officers? Cant demote? Cant scrap? Cant dry dock?

    Noob here. I've got to level 11 and now have the first level provided ship (i chose the constitution). Which has 4 bridge officer stations (i think i'm saying that right). 1 tactical, two engineer and 1 science. I have 4 bridge officers - Eliza of course, then an additional tactical guy Kolez, an engineer and a science.

    My questions are:

    1. Is that the correct number of bridge officers? I get another one at level 20 right?

    2. Why cant i demote any of them? I click on them, select to dismiss and it wont let me. Is it because they are a starting bridge person? How am i supposed to replace them later if i cant dismiss? The constitution has stations for 1 tac, 2 engineer, 1 science so my second engineer station is empty because i cant put a second engineer in. I want to demote Kolez and commission a second engineer but it wont let me. What am i missing?

    3. I have my primary starship and i also have the free starting type 7 shuttle each with a respective name. I just started doing the duty officer stuff and when i go to assign someone to say, sickbay - It has listed the sickbay - FOR THE SHUTTLE? When i try to assign a bridge officer they say there aren't any available bridge officer asssignments again - FOR THE SHUTTLE? Why is the game saying that my shuttle is the primary ship? How do i change that so it recognizes the starship?

    4. Related - similar to the no demoting a bridge officer - i tried to scrap the shuttle as a workaround and again, when I get to the screen to actually scrap and it warns me about "you will lose your stuff on it" screen - it wont actually let me scrap the shuttle. Is this another "because its your starting small craft" thing? It also wont let me dry dock the shuttle either?

    What am i doing wrong? Am i crazy? Is it bugged?

    What's a captain gotta do to get Magee frigate hangar pets?

    The ship already exists as a pet, with the Styx, so all you gotta do is change the weapons to something more Starfleet, switch the skin, and maybe throw em in the zen store as an experiment?

    Day 1 purchase for me.
