Posted: 27 Dec 2020 10:05 AM PST Guys I know this is not tech support but I haven't found anything relating to this issue within the last 2 years so I don't know if this is a legacy issue or what. My game is crashing almost immediately after launching, I am sent to the black cryptic loading screen only to have to client become unresponsive and recommend I close the application. If I do not press anything, instead, the cryptic screen continues to load until around 3/4ths of the loading bar is complete with a lovely blue windows 10 loading symbol circling over the screen before unceremoniously blipping out of existence, leaving me to try the whole process again. This happens if I am in safe mode, If I have disabled and deleted any iota of virus protection and forced a file check, if I have forced updates, if I installed the game on Steam, the Ark launcher, the Standalone Launcher, let alone when I reinstall the game from scratch. My debug file recently gave me this response which I hoped would lead me to a potential solution, but most of the posts I see relate to a recent update. Not a new player who cant even get into the character selection screen. I attempted to create a replacement old_cef_cache_000 file but that did nothing. The link listing the shard was dead by the time I attempted to access it and I cant find any suggestions as to fixing the LauncherAPI not being defined. I don't know what the issue is on my end but it is certainly making me feel like a Id10t. If any one at all recognizes this issue and knows how to help I would really appreciate it. Fleet Shepard vs Fleet Strike Wing Escort Posted: 27 Dec 2020 09:36 AM PST Stuck between the two, I can only get one. I'm working on a beam overload build, and have a handful of sensor linked dual phaser beam banks so want to move to a 5,3/5,2 weapon setup from my current 4,4 on the Eclipse, with omnis on the aft and DBB/BA up top. The way I see it, I can go with the Shepard and sacrifice my turn rate (7.5 vs 14), but have access to an extra universal console (once T6-X) which I could use to essentially have 6 tac consoles for Lorca's console and vulnerability locators. The Shepard only has a science ensign boff, so I would have to pick between hazard emitters and photonic officer, unless I slotted a science officer into the universal lt commander spot at the expense of an engineer. I've also heard from someone that the strike wing escort is better for a torp build. What are people's opinions on the two and what would they recommend for the direction I'm head [link] [comments] | ||
Posted: 27 Dec 2020 08:09 AM PST I would LOVE to have some flexibility on weapon hardpoints and origination points for attacks on our ships. Some have been really well modeled. Others...well, when beams shoot from weird points and tips and odd parts of our ship, and that's "okay"...combat moves fast and we are liable to overlook it...but not really. As an example, the new Gok'tad, which looks really neat! shoots it's beams from the ends of the antenna extensions. What?? You have broadside blocks on the ship, and beams don't emit from that? Or even the body of the ship, but from thin extension antennas? My solution? Like the skins and vanity shields, how they can interact with surfaces and textures, have weapon hardpoints have a few options. (I'd love total customization and kitbashing, but I figure that's just a dream.) I know this would be "possible" (I don't code, but it's customization...can't imagine it's impossible...maybe cost prohibitive), but is this something that my brain wants but most don't care about? I really like the exeter model, simply because I'm one of those silly players who acknowledges that we're a century and a half removed from the original series era, and the only way a constitution actually 'works' in STO is with a major facelift/reimagining. Romulan ship acquisition glitch. Posted: 27 Dec 2020 05:30 AM PST So, I just made Subcommnder after doing a quest in the "iN Shadows" storyline. And I was rewarded the usual ship token to get myself a mogai warbird. (an upgrade from my Dhelan) And I went down to the shuttle bay in rolumbus command and got the warbird, only to find it nowhere to be found in my dry or ship selection menu. I had this issues with my shuttle as well. I went to the flotilla to buy my own and the same thing happened. Is it it a glitch? Did I do something wrong? Or am I just looking in the wrong place?
