Even though the NPC Kagren uses it. Devs, can this be rectified, what with this being Year of The Klingon?

Warning: don't skip the "throne room" cutscene when replaying the episode

    Posted: 09 Oct 2020 07:02 PM PDT

I watched the cutscenes on my first playthrough the other day, but today I was steamrolling through it and skipping everything and when I skipped the cutscene in the "throne room" with Aakar the group of enemies you fight next did not spawn and there was no way to complete the mission. The only fix it to beam out and replay the entire ground map that leads up to that final battle, which obviously sucks. FYI!

Experimental Upgrades and what they might mean for the future of the game

    Posted: 10 Oct 2020 02:00 AM PDT

I can't help but wonder what the introduction of Experimental Upgrades could mean for the future of the game. We now, from a code standpoint, apparently have a way to add more console slots to existing ships. If it's not simply converting the existing ship classes to a new "phantom" class and copying the player equipment over, and actually legit modifying the existing starship - the possibilities become quite expansive. We could get Weapon Retrofit Upgrades, which could permit us to add or move weapon slots around (turning say, a 4/4 ship into a 5/3, or a 3/3 to a 5/1). Or possibly even the same thing but with consoles - swap one of your Science or Engineering console slots for an extra Tactical.

It's going to be interesting to say the least to see what might grow from this new mechanic.

Nanopulse staff rifle (Partisans mission reward)

    Posted: 10 Oct 2020 01:37 AM PDT

    Its a fun weapon.

Its got similarities to the lobi weapon https://sto.gamepedia.com/Jaylah%27s_Staff, with sniper shot and melee attack.

The sniper shot apparently give you stealth.
And it appears the sniper shot damages multiple enemies.
It also has a "charge" built into the melee attack, though not as fast a charge as the disco reputation melee weapon.

    A bit of a multi-purpose weapon.
Probably not as powerful as the top tier weapons, but it feels completely usable.

Max hit after one ground TFO with sniper shot was 2,399.
Standard shot max hit was 1,348.
That's at epic re-engineered with max crtd.

Partisans mission, great for ground endeavors.

    Posted: 10 Oct 2020 01:45 AM PDT

I played the mission "Partisans" for first time. I discovered that the mission (Shangdu and Arena parts) capable of throwing in waves of enemy NPCs, enough for damage-type endeavors included unlimited waves of dewan arthropods in Arena stage which is great hassle-free spot instead of the desert with players. I am not sure if we can use the mission for the healing and shield repairing endeavors if there are safe spots.

Keep the mission in mind for future.

P.S. Good if you use its transwarp shortcut to Nimbus III for other reasons.

Infinity Choice Boxes should be directly sellable/tradeable

    Posted: 10 Oct 2020 10:15 AM PDT

It's hard to find certain ships on the exchange simply because nobody opens them (and when you do find one, it's outrageously priced because it's the only one). Certain traits sell for peanuts while others are like 15M+. It would lead to a more stable market if you could simply sell choice boxes directly.

Kael's answer on why the Inquiry was put in a lockbox (from Priority One)

    Posted: 09 Oct 2020 03:54 PM PDT

    From around 1:08:25:

    https://podfollow.com/priorityonepod/view

To paraphrase: He knows that in the past some dev said something something like 'normal ships will be in the C-store and alien/rare ships will be in boxes', but he says that hasn't been how they actually decide which ships go in boxes for several years (at least as long as he has been CM). Other than that, he gave no specific reasoning why the Inquiry was put in the pack.

    ---end of 'official' answer---

    Now my commentary:

    1) I take issue with his statement about this policy not being how they decided to put ships in packs for several years(and for as long as he has been CM) for this reason: until the Inquiry, there has literally never been a "normal" faction ship from STO's own approximate time period put in a pack. That has literally never happened in the 8 years from when lockboxes started until the Inquiry. Every single faction ship that has ever been put in a box (prior to the Inquiry) was either from the distant past or future or alternate timeline. There has literally never been a "normal" faction ship in a box before the Inquiry, so that policy has most certainly been in place and remained true until this year.

    2) His answer means ALL BETS ARE OFF. If they in fact do NOT have this policy anymore, that means ANY regular old faction ships, no matter how modern or common it may be, will be shoved in a lockbox if it appears on screen in a new show. Enjoy! (/s)

An idea for the Year of Klingon

    Posted: 09 Oct 2020 05:57 PM PDT

Wanted to share an idea that just came to me, would be prefect for the "Year of Klingon". How about badges for our KDF characters representing the different Great Houses? Basically the KDF equivalent of the different species badges we got from the Anniversary Event earlier this year.

Can any character level use T5/T6 ships?

Just asking since those you gotta buy with Zen and I can't seem to find a restriction unless I'm missing it.

What’s the calculus for deciding how to get the best value for ships out of your EC stores?

    Posted: 10 Oct 2020 10:05 AM PDT

I've saved up about 700M EC, and I'd like to treat myself to a Lockbox/Lobi ship from the exchange. The Mirror Warship looks pretty nice, but it's essentially at the top of my price range, whereas I could theoretically get two other ships for that price.

Would you give any thought to splurging on a single ship that costs all your EC, or is it a no-brainer to basically get the 2-for-1?

    22nd Century Character

    Posted: 10 Oct 2020 09:44 AM PDT

I'm interested in creating a new thematic captain from the Enterprise era. I've been sitting on an NX-Refit for awhile and wanted to take advantage of the new ENT lobi items. I'm running into questions regarding build, though. I'm leaning towards DSC as the basis, as it resembles ENT more imo. Also, I think Archer had an eng background, so I may go that route. I would welcome any opinions and suggestions on the matter. Once I buy the lobi items, they'll be bound to that character, so I want to try and get as accurate as I can.

Did not receive marks or event progress after doing TFO: Synthwave

    Posted: 09 Oct 2020 10:33 PM PDT

Basically did a 23 minute run with a friend (took that long cuz one dude kept trying to protect a stuck transport) and when it concluded he got 193 marks but I did not even receive the option to choose my marks and my event progress did not go up even tho I have the combat log prooving I did the thing and I also completed the TFO cuz burgess freeze program and the report came up.

So please I ask I would like to receive my marks.

    (this was on PC)

I did file an ingame bug report But I have also filled in game bug reports on other minor things that were never fixed so I decided to also post on the reddit here.
