Posting For A Friend: Space Boosts From Crit Success Doff Missions Not Applying

    Posted: 03 Oct 2020 09:05 AM PDT

As the title says, my fleetmate has had this problem for the last two weeks.

Says he keeps getting Crit Success bonuses, but they're not showing up on his ship or UI.

Has anyone else had this issue and is there a solution? Thanks in advance.

    Sto Keybinds + Joy2key + Gamepad question

    Posted: 03 Oct 2020 08:32 AM PDT

I have already had this working for years. I use STO keybinds to use one gamepad button (albeit repeatedly hammering it because of the Cryptic-deliberate 0.5 delay to prevent exploits) to activate powers in each tray, in sequence and I use Joy2key to combine things like dpad down+X,Y,A,B buttons so I have enough buttons to cover the powers and functions I want to use.

It has worked very well until just recently/last couple months but I play in streaks and have been off before the last few weeks. Now I can only get the most basic functions out of the gamepad (pitch, throttle etc.)

I do not think it is Joy2Key as that tests out with a text editor (I use the button combos on the gamepad and can "type" the appropriate keyboard letter(s) with it). I think it is STO keybinds not working and I think it is something to do with how it creates keybind files OR maybe a change in how the game reads them. Do I need to create a bind file prior to STO Keybinds and modify that file with STOK? Or can I trust STOK to create the file?

I went through all the other posts - I know "they moved the executable" and I have keybind file copies in the game directory, live, x86, x64, every folder I can think of. I can't make it work.

I know there is a step I am missing since I last set this up about 4 years ago. So after unbind_all and reset to default in the game UI, plus re-entering the basic keybind commands through the game, what step(s) did I miss that could be causing this?

Anyone is welcome to view and criticize (cuz yeah of course) my setup here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LVP_sWUTUqRt8NT4qxQHymyfvLZI_TyJo-S_-yaFG5o/edit?usp=sharing

    Thanks y'all

Experimental Upgrade Token - I like it!

    Posted: 03 Oct 2020 10:06 AM PDT

I just want to say thanks to Cryptic on this one! Small post, but I think this is a neat idea of giving all ships a nice buff without introducing another Tier of Starships, as most players will recall what happened when T6 was announced.

    Happy hunting Captains!

Reworked ships that end up missing customization options (Fleet Windows on the Nebula for example) and color patterns that got changed

    Posted: 03 Oct 2020 09:32 AM PDT

Well, more or less title: The new Nebula is missing the option to use Fleet Windows and some of the other material options like the Type 3 seem kinda broken.

Also, the color patterns seem to be broken as well.

Similar, one of the main issues that got fixed with the Galaxy Class being reworked (the deflector) transitioned to the Sovereign Class with its deflector now changing instead of staying the golden one (which you now only get if you use the Sovereign Material, which in itself isn't right, as there actually should be more than one because the First Contact Ent-E had a different hull material than the Nemesis Ent-E - the close up shots when they fight on the hull shows it to be plain white mostly without any patterns like the Nemesis-hull).

Also, a issue that is in fact a lot older: When the Tier 6 Oddy came out, the hull pattern (the things named Corvus, Andromeda, Virgo, etc) got changed on the Tier 5 version / stock Oddy. I used to have the Centaurus pattern, which gave me colored (in my case black) patches at the side of the chevron, which now are gone.

Something similar to the old pattern i am talking about can be achieved with the Yorktown Saucer and the Corvus Pattern (Black + White respectively), but i do not like the Tier 6 versions of the Oddy very much and would like to get my old pattern back on the stock Oddy.

When using hangar pets, if use squadrons instead of fighters do you actually get 6×6 the dps per wing (36 ships) vs using standard fighters wing (6 ships) and getting 1×6 dps? Or does each squadron of 6 just deal the same dps as 1 fighter, but looks like more?

T6X Lobi, promo and Event ships

    Posted: 03 Oct 2020 12:07 AM PDT

We have been given the assurance that once upgraded to T5x or T6x the ship will be upgraded for all characters across the account. Assuming this was not a grammatical error, accidental misrepresentation or erroneous copy-paste from another blog post the question remains how will this work for Lockbox, Lobi, promo and event ships. The previous T5U upgrade introduced with Delta Rising allowed Lockbox, Lobi, Promo and event ships a free upgrade. The ships that required an upgrade token (Free tokens were given to LTS and Veterans) were T5 C-store and select Rare lockbox ships currently available from the infinity T5 Ship selection.

My questions are: Will these ships be upgradeable? If yes will it cost a token? If yes will we have to purchase the Lobi, lockbox or promo ships again or by buying the token can we unlock the Lobi, lockbox or promo ship for all characters on the account? And finally is there a chance that we will get our Lobi, lockbox or promo ships unlocked for all characters on the account without having to upgrade them?

Edit: I guess I missed this part on my first read through of the blog

Can you apply this upgrade to any ship?

You can use an Experimental Upgrade Token on any T5-U or T6 ship. This includes: Fleet ships, Legendary Ships, Ships obtained from lockboxes and infinity promotions.

What "class" does the Upgrade affect?

When you upgrade a ship, the upgrade is applied to any ships of that exact type on your account. This means that applying it to a Legendary Pilot Defiant will upgrade that ship on all characters on your account, but will not upgrade a Tier 5 Defiant, for example.

Do you have to choose one of the three options?

No. Upgrading a ship grants you the Console Slot, Trait Slot, and Device Slot. All three.

Will the trait slot unlock for my character?

No - the trait slot is specific to any ship you've applied an upgrade to. You will have access to an extra trait slot while commanding any ship that has had an Experimental Prototype Upgrade applied.

    Will Fleet ships automatically upgrade?

Applying the upgrade to a non-fleet version of a ship will not automatically upgrade a fleet version of the ship.

**Will some ships automatically be upgraded, like they were for T5-U?

No - any ship that you would like to upgrade will require an Experimental Upgrade Token. **

How will this affect character bound ships?

The upgrade will still affect all ships of that type on your account. So, for example, if you obtained the Tzenkethi Dreadnought on two of your characters, you would only need to upgrade the ship once, on one character, to unlock the extra slots on both ships.

    Role playing as captain Nemo

I want to get a ship that reminds me of the nautilus from 20k leagues under the sea, any suggestion on a T6 ship that would fit the nautilus description?

    No carriers.

    Preferably a Zen store ship.
