What STO roadmap at Cryptic probably looks like at the moment... Posted: 09 Sep 2020 01:22 AM PDT
And so on... you get the idea... This is what STO has been turned into recently in my eyes. And with no solid new content to play this is getting ridiculous and tiresome, even for someone like me, who's been playing the game for over 10 years on and off. Obviously I love the game, and I've always defended many of it's aspects, including the F2P model. But greed seems to be killing it slowly. There's just too little content and too many means to play the existing old content. And it doesn't seem like Cryptic is willing to invest in a brand new mechanic or repeatable content. There's just a handful of story missions a year, maybe a TFO with more TIMERS than play-time, and with a bit of luck a new Patrol (with a hidden timer). But it's all becoming an empty playground, while all the resources go into making all them new toys. There's a point when even the whales get tired. Truth be told, I did buy the Legendary Bundle and a few other expensive items, but didn't get as much out of them as I thought I would. I flew a few ships several times and forgot about them. I was hyped for the Support Carriers, only to be discouraged by their limitations and bugs. Which only focused my attention on many other issues and bugs that keep being ignored by Cryptic, even though they're surely aware of them. And even then, I only used those ships in the same old Patrols I've been repeating for months now, aside from an event TFO... Just a little rant. I really miss the old times. [link] [comments]

Did the Zen store sale end early? Posted: 09 Sep 2020 09:23 AM PDT Did the Zen store sale end early? The blog said it was through 10:00 AM PT. It's already showing regular prices for me. We should have a little over half an hour left, unless I'm missing something. [link] [comments]
A Plea for Civility and Organization [Meta] Posted: 09 Sep 2020 05:05 AM PDT There have been a lot of topics lately in one way or another being unhappy with the game. I'm not discounting those feelings here because I believe some are justified. However, most are attacking people you shouldn't be attacking. Please take a minute to reflect on your own anger and frustration that might possibly be stemming from the current global pandemic. Temper your thoughts and find your rationale. Everyone is suffering from additional stress and trauma at this time, including the development team (not to mention the recent fires). Working from home or being unemployed, especially if you haven't done it before is difficult. Ambassador Kael and the Community Manager position is not a free for all punching bag. We have a bad habit as a people where we tend to treat those publicly visible members of a company poorly, be it clerks and cashiers, customer service, or people in online moderation or community PR. I've been in a relatable position in my career for 17 years, it isn't on the same scale, but it has similar dynamics. STO right now, has a level of community-developer interaction that we haven't had before. You might be a little used to it by now, but Ten Forward was brought to us by Kael and that has created a lot of visibility where we can put faces and personalities to the people who bring us the creative elements of the game. I don't want our community to jeopardize losing this kind of valuable communication, I want to see it flourish. Frankly speaking, I saw it happen in Guild Wars 2, and since then the game and the community itself has not been the same. We used to get after-patch Reddit AMAs, regular Twitch streams, and quite a lot of interaction on Twitter and Reddit. I can link so much of the downfall of that game back to that particular instance. It is a little different from our case here on STO, but it could play out just as well. I really want to see Spartan's Build Corner or art with Hector or Thomas or Nick. I'd even like to see something on systems or design from Jeremy or Jesse (just some examples from faces I see a lot, not meaning to leave anyone out). I would suggest that the goal we should work toward, is organizing against the current system of Lock-box style monetization. To be convincing we need that passion, but tempered with reason as well as data. We first need to start a dialog with each other in a civil way, create surveys based on what we "want" in a style of monetization or limits of what we are "willing to pay" for in a monetization system. We also need backing from prominent community members (we pretty much have that), and we need this to be visible, shared to the Facebook groups, Discords, Fleet websites, and MMO news organizations (Massively OP seems to do quite a few STO posts). We also need to agree to take a stand with what this "sto monetization player union" (or stompu) deems as unreasonable and not pay out for it, no matter how tempting. In addition, we need to agree to stop targeting those who are not directly responsible who work at the company. I don't see any other viable way to change this without burdening own community with vitriol and continuing to poison ourselves. [link] [comments]

How is the Museum Not an Advertisement for the Legendary Pack? Posted: 09 Sep 2020 08:37 AM PDT Seriously, I was willing to give this the benefit of the doubt after u/ambassadorkael came out and talked about it, but it only features those ships. Not only that, it features a ship from an alternate timeline and one that was classified using a quote from a indicted officer BS this wasn't an advertisement. Christ, I'd have more respect for you guys if you just said as much [link] [comments]
The Museum is Not Intended as an Ad Posted: 08 Sep 2020 01:14 PM PDT I know I'm just gonna get yelled at for this, but here we go anyway. The museum was never conceived as an ad. It was never designed as an ad. I first had the idea two years ago, before the Legendary Bundle was even planned, but this is the first year we had the time to do even this version, which we wanted to get done because CBS was making Star Trek Day a big deal this year. It's meant to just be a fun celebration of Star Trek starring the main ships of the franchise. When we were looking for things to add to the sale today, I suggested the Legendary Bundle because it fit with the anniversary and because I wanted to make sure it got out to Console folks who have been asking every day. If it was meant ad an ad, it would like you to the C-store, or it would mention the bundle in some way. It specifically doesn't. :) I love you all. [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 Sep 2020 10:04 AM PDT Hello all, new to the game and I'm having trouble with my skill tray in space. In trying to customize it I seem to have lost my "evasive maneuvers" skill and can't for the life of me find it again. Any help would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
