Well, it's about time! The Legendary Bundle is returning today to all platforms! :) Posted: 08 Sep 2020 07:33 AM PDT Ooooh! That's not all! Loving these savings across the store! Posted: 08 Sep 2020 09:58 AM PDT Anyone else underwhelmed by this? It feels hastily put together, I was expecting some kind of cool new ground map or social zone we could visit.. not whatever this was. [link] [comments]

Congratulations to Damack363 for his winning entry in the Lobi Ship giveaway! Posted: 08 Sep 2020 07:17 AM PDT u/Damack363 won his prize with this entry:
Thank you to everyone who participated, as I wasn't sure how well this contest would do. I love Star Trek, and being able to play a game like this where I can interact with the characters and species I grew up watching is always time well spent. Being able to help others enjoy this game as much as I do is a real treat. Hopefully, I'll be able to run another contest like this in the near future to help more players. [link] [comments]

Final Campaign event for Console - Battle at the Binary Stars; Also Red alert fixed (broken?) Posted: 08 Sep 2020 08:55 AM PDT Just logged in after server maintenance. In addition to the House Divided event being live, it populated the final event for the Event Campain. Battle at the binary stars, which I believe the PC folks did for their first event. Just says coming soon, does not list a date or rewards. Also, they have fixed the Red Alert, although it breaks it for me. I've been getting the bonus dilithium for the last several days, but now it reset me to 0/5 progress, and since I did my daily this morning before the maintenance, I can't do day one until tomorrow. Do pre-existing K’gans, Ch’grens and B’elleras not update? Posted: 08 Sep 2020 09:21 AM PDT I was kind of expecting a sudden overnight facelift on the three starter Klingons, but they look as they did prior to the update. Do pre-existing ones not update, and only new ones look new? Or do I need to do something? [link] [comments]
Why STO is still awesome and the current dynamics of cryptic-player interaction. Posted: 08 Sep 2020 02:50 AM PDT This might be a bit of a longer post, but I'll try to keep it brief. First, let me introduce myself and talk a bit about my journey in STO. I am a student (recently graduated from high-school) and somewhat unwilling to pay money for video games (waste enough time on them already, dont need to spend money that could be used for other things). I completely understand, however, the mentality behind buying ships/items in STO, if I had any consistent source of income, I would probably do the same (1 Hour or minimum wage work = 1k Zen = 430k Dil = about a week, asumming you run the full 8 F2P character slots. And that is definitely more time spent than 1 hour.) But I do enjoy the grind and embrace my F2P mentality. When I first started playing in 2016 the zen price was lower, but I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. So it took me a few months to pile up the zen and buy, of course not during a sale bc I was stupid, my first ship. From then on I slowly started trying to get better and better DPS numbers. I looked around on YT and found some budget builds by Timberwolf. I tried hard, set up some new characters to grind more dilithium and slowly but surely acquired the equipment and upgrades needed for the build. What set STO apart from other games, what really kept me motivated and feeling like I could someday achieve some good numbers are a few different things. A) it is Star Trek, my favourite series and definitely a big reason I still play this game today B) you could purchase premium currency via in-game grinding and technically no items were behind any paywall whatsoever (Veteran ships excluded) C) constant, reliable, T6 ship giveaways (3 times a year!!! How great is that) D) a wonderful community always posting low budget builds and encouraging players to try their best in the biggest game of the franchise they love, to just have fun doing the things they enjoy most, may it be DPS, Space-Barbie or Role-playing. And doing those things together, always sharing achievements with others. So I was pretty set on making this whole dps-thing work. As I got more experienced I eventually managed to get 100k in a Disruptor build using the Bajoran Interceptor and almost no investments besides upgrades and reputation gear. Then I quit playing the game for a while (mostly bc of school and in favour of other games) and just came back this year, in February. I was only gone for about 6 months, I hadn't really participated in the first event campaign, although I thought it was great (yet another t6 ship!!) and reentered the game just before the Winter-Event re-run. Finally, a big opportunity to get free Lobi, something that was never really possible before!! Now, as the second event campaign is coming to an end, I will be able to receive 1k Lobi, as a F2P!! Which is just amazing and has reignited my willingness to push for DPS. So I started a Sci-account and once more tried hard to beat my record. With more expertise in the game I managed to beat my old high-score (130k) in just 2 weeks. And after some investments (1 Ship for Spore-Infused Anomalies And some EC for DOFFs and consoles) I managed to beat 400k in ISE. Now, those were not small investments, on this account I have spent 6k Zen for ships and about 300k Dilithium for upgrades, as well as about 300-400 Million EC. But if you take your time and grind a few weeks, that is manageable. Now, thanks to the wonderful MD Fleet and some nannied runs I can achieve 800k+ DPS in ISE/HSE and am top 10 on DPS game-wide! Cryptic has made this possible, despite all the bad blood going on, the seeming cash grabs all over the place and the misinforming posts on Twitter they are still running the best damn Star Trek game we fans have. They enable players like me to, with some grinding, follow there dreams and have fun doing what they like (DPS-chasing for me) regardless of the money they put into the game. It seems like us players have somewhat gotten used to the constant giveaways crytip does and are taking them for granted. They are not! Cryptic could honestly put in some more effort into good relations with the community, true. But they have been running a damn fine game for the last 10 years, enabling us, Star Trek fans, to explore the galaxy and mass murder those pesky Borg in ISE. I know some of you will still be annoyed by the bugs and the cryptic money making schemes, and your concerns are valid and should be addressed. In the meantime I can only encourage you to see the big picture, to view this game as the awesome ground for fun and community that it is. Just take a moment to think about all the giveaways cryptic has done and is doing, do not take them for granted just because they have always been there. And when you log into STO the next time, think of my journey, as a F2P, and the countless other people out there able to have fun with a Star Trek game because Cryptic has not installed pay-walls for the game See you all around! Wish you a great day [link] [comments]
