Posted: 08 May 2020 10:03 AM PDT Quick question. Are romulans not allowed facial hair in the costume change...? [link] [comments]

Random "Year of Klingon" wishlisting - Bring back KDF HQ AKA the Great Hall! Posted: 08 May 2020 06:11 AM PDT So amidst the many posts about what people would like to see in "Year of Klingon", here's my personal longshot: return the KDF faction hub to a remade KDF HQ. There have been a lot of people complaining that the First City map is impractical, with large dead areas. It's a very characterful map whose utility has suffered from systems that were either revamped or never implemented (R&D, Targ breeding, Melee PVP arena) resulting in those areas now being purely decorative. Old hands will remember that the First City is not the original KDF hub - that was the Great Hall of Qo'nos, which survives in-game as the KDF HQ map seen in the Fek'lhri arc. This was more of a straight ESD analog, and I can see why Cryptic moved to something more distinct. However, that changed the tone of the Fek'lhri arc IMO; it was impressively unsettling, on first playthrough, to be fighting through the familiar layout of your HQ, but it's burning and filled with carnage. That gave a great "nothing is safe" feel to the episode. If they're revamping maps, I would very much like to see a return to a more practical hub (like ESD or Ganalda) which also feels more like a KDF fortress. It never made sense to me that the Klingons did not have a heavily defended military HQ in the way that the Federation does, especially since we see an example of one (Ty'gokor) in DS9. First City could be retained as a social map or for episode use - for example, for the rare occasions when you need to visit Worf or J'm'pok - and I think that would make those episodes a bit more novel; a neat introduction for new players to Klingon life outside the KDF. In that sense, it would be no different to other semi-moribund social zones like Bajor or Andoria. [link] [comments]

About to attempt something insane: A Permadeath Challenge Posted: 08 May 2020 10:21 AM PDT I'm going to make a new character (Federation) and attempt to make it through the entire story log (including patrols and TFO's when relevant), along with the "Galaxy at Large" Missions where they used to be in the mission log. If I die once, I will delete the character and start again. I'm gonna pick an Engineering officer and focus 100% on tanking, increasing hull/shields in space and HP/Shields on the ground. I'm also planning on taking whatever abilities I can get that give other targets and reduce threat. Wish me luck. [link] [comments]

Serious Question: Does anyone actually want the La Sirena? Posted: 07 May 2020 04:36 PM PDT Don't get me wrong, it's a neat little ship. But is there really enough demand for it to be a Promotional ship? It seems like it would have been a better C store ship. I'm honestly just curious if there is really that much demand for it, personally I have no desire for this ship even if it was C store. [link] [comments]

How do I install STO for windows 10? Posted: 08 May 2020 09:24 AM PDT The Arc launcher and STO don't open and it says it's incompatible, and won't run so i am unable to change the settings. I know that you have to put a certain text under a setting, but the programs literally just won't open...Really wanted to try it out because I'm a huge Star Trek fan, but is the game even worth all this trouble? Terran empire uniform set (discovery) for romulans Posted: 08 May 2020 08:53 AM PDT I was wondering if the terran empire uniform set (the one from discovery) could be used by federation aligned romulans or not, does anyone know? [link] [comments]

Don't forget your free Exocomp DOFF! Or whatever KDF get! Posted: 07 May 2020 10:59 AM PDT I see posts about Seven of Nine's outfit and the Jem'Hadar ship, with the Lobi store sale, but nothing about the free DOFF Exocomp. Feds speak to Lieutenant Cat Person at the Starfleet Academy. KDF speak to the Gorn person by the Lore Datapad computer (up on the platform). The quest is something like "Reinforcements". The NPC who actually gives the Exocomp/KDF equivalent is nearby. [link] [comments]
PSA: Omni Beam Crafting and non-standard mods [Pen][Thrust][Over][Snare] Posted: 07 May 2020 12:29 PM PDT I strongly suspect that Omni-Directional Beams can no longer be crafted with the non-standard mods [Thrust], [Snare], [Over], or [Pen]. If it is still possible to do so, the odds of rolling one of those mods are significantly less than rolling the standard mods [Acc], [CrtH], [CrtD], and [Dmg], like 1/3 or 1/4 the chance of a standard mod. Clearly it used to be possible based on the exchange and my own personal experience, but I think it is different now. If someone has a recent example where they made one in the last year with any of the non-standard mods, I'm open to correction. As a little bit of background, crafted Omni-beams have 3 fixed modifiers: [Arc], [Acc], and [Dmg]. They also have a chance to go Ultra-Rare on first craft with a less-than-50% chance depending on doff, crafting skills, and catalysts. It was thought that you had a 1-in-8 chance of rolling a non-standard mod, which could only occur on the initial craft of the item. I believe this is no longer true. I am aware that it used to be possible to make those (my wife's ship has an [Over] Omni), but in recent attempts, I've been unable to get any non-standard mod to roll on an Omni. I wanted to see if I could make an [Over] Omni for one of my ships, so I decided to make one. I've tried making a LOT of Omnis to attempt that, and I've come to the conclusion that the non-standard mods are either broken, or significantly less likely to roll than was believed. I'm sure somebody's thinking that it's down to RNGesus and not enough rolls, but I can assure you my data size is sufficiently large that if the actual mods were all weighted the same, I'd have rolled at least ONE non-standard mod by now. I've made 38 Omnis in the last two weeks, of which 12 went Ultra-Rare on craft (even with 2 +50 Catalysts, it doesn't appear that the posted odds of VR/UR are accurate, but that could be RNG screwing me). A binomial distribution analysis of those odds and attempts means that if they were all weighted equally, even with only a 1-in-3 chance of rolling an UR beam, I'd have seen at least 1 Ultra-Rare beam with any non-standard mod right now. For kicks and giggles, I rolled 12 regular beam arrays at Mk II and saw 1 [Snare], 4 [thrust], and 2 [Pen]. It is clear they do not use the same odds (7 out of 12--you can't have more than 1 non-standard mod--versus 0 out of 12). It is statistically impossible that Omnis and regular beam arrays roll the same odds for non-standard. Lastly, if you're here to post some variation about how crafting is a waste of time or resources, save yourself the keystrokes. Thanks. [link] [comments]
