Hitting a new low in amoral gameplay...

Today's VR endeavour was Plasma Damage (Ground).

So, I take my KDF-Rom into the Bozeman patrol. Kill some Borg, get to the colony site.

Then complete the second half of the endeavour by gunning down unarmed civilians.

I'm just going to say that history records they were all killed in the explosions and were clearly nanite-infected anyway....

    Risa Map getting an Update?!

EDIT: Somebody pointed out that the background is just the temple at P'Jem, and it is the new standard background for contacts now. I apologize for getting hopes up.

    Image taken by u/x3of9

    ------

    Something is very different here...

    https://preview.redd.it/94y18smutsr41.png?width=985&format=png&auto=webp&s=597bfb9c4eb76ed1655d3a7134e56f60a495f0d7

So, since the last patch I've noticed the background the tailor is standing in here has changed. I've searched the entire map and there is no other spot that looks like this strange wooden background. Also, the background has a bit of that sort of fuzzy look that all of the newer maps seem to have to look smoother. I think that Risa could be getting another update this year. The wooden structures on Risa currently look really outdated, and I hope this is a hint that an update to the map is coming soon.

Founded in 2008, Stonewall Fleet is one of Star Trek Online's oldest and largest fleets, and we're proudly the premier LGBT and ally fleet within the game! Stonewall Fleet is the eponymous Alpha fleet of the Stonewall Armada, and the House of Nagh reD is the Klingon counterpart as Alpha Fleet in the Nagh reD Armada. With over 375 unique members and over 1,275 characters, we always have players online!

We are currently recruiting Gamma fleets in our Federation allied armada and both Beta and Gamma fleets in our KDF allied armada. Both faction's armadas have access to a common in-game armada chat channel to allow for inter-fleet communication and to facilitate in-game runs and activities. We hold regular in-game and out of game community events and our armada family members are invited and encouraged to join us for some of the most amazing events that the Star Trek Online community has to offer! The leadership from our armada member fleets comprise our Armada council, so as to maintain an active line of communication with each fleet and ensure inter-fleet cooperation and joint gameplay.

Being a member fleet of the Stonewall Armada comes with many benefits, and we'd encourage interested fleets to follow the application link below to learn about the perks of membership, as well as a few of the responsibilities that include minimum activity levels and abidance by our community Code of Conduct that includes maintaining a safe space in your respective communities for our LGBT and ally players.

Member fleets will become part of a very welcoming and fun community, giving you access to all the stores both in-game and out-of-game, social events, and shared online platforms. In addition, we believe in diversity! This means that you get access to all of these resources when affiliating with our Armadas, but you will remain autonomous and whatever makes your Fleet unique and defines your colour shall always remain so.

Stonewall's Star Trek Online presence is just one branch of the Stonewall Gaming Network (SGN), a multi-guild gaming community that includes presences in Star Wars: The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2, Dead by Daylight, Fortnite and Overwatch among many other games. We also have an active group on Steam that we welcome our members to join. By joining with one of our Armadas you will not only meet people playing STO, but will meet many different players in almost as many exciting online games all over the world!

Check out our Stonewall Armada and Stonewall Fleet recruitment threads in the Star Trek Online forums for a lengthy list of events and perks that your fleet could look forward to as a potential member of the Stonewall Armada.

Click THIS LINKfor our Armada FAQ, member fleet requirements and to submit your application. We look forward to hearing from you!

Ten Forward Weekly 09.04.2020: Summer Ship Stream 4

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 07:38 PM PDT

    Link: Twitch

    Theme: Summer Ship Stream 4

    Guest: concept artist Hector Ortiz

Mike's the one drawing this time.

    • In preparation for a stream, Hector had to clean the wall from his concepts.
    • Hector gave a lot of general drawing advices.
    • Using knowledge of what his competitors drew, Mike decided to do something different.
      • He decided to create scoop in the front and Hector reminded that ocean + scoop = whale.
      • Another point is biodome.
        • Idea from chat: different biomes as part of customisation.
    • Then they decided to give some fish-like features, instead of previous' ship-like.
    • Hector thought about giving engine trail special effects like there's wake as if ship's going trough the water.
    • First attempt was criticized for being too circular and lacking feeling of direction.
      • They remembered the borg cube, as there's no real way to say where's it going from shape only.
    • "Science bubbles."
    • After some time trying to go by pure imagination, Mike decided to look at references, like whales, before making another attempt.
    • Hector liked the whale shark "material". "It's kinda usable, let me tell you. That material is interesting."
    • Mike: "A little cartoony?" Hector: "Yellow submarine".
      • Then they talked about "Yesterday" movie. They liked it. Weird movie, IMO, but I don't regret watching it.
    • Another reference: Nautilus from 20000 leagues under the sea.
    • *Random desperate cat mewling in background*
    • Hector: "We all look for cool references, we all <???> Google for cool whatever, and guess what? We gonna choose more or less the same shapes."
    • Hector: "We always have to say "This is it", otherwise gonna keep on doing-doing-doing."
    • Maybe Hector working on the finalized concepts would be seen on yet another stream.
    • Mike is just happy that stream didn't crush. "In order to make it work from home I only had to change everything."

    New Player Questions

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 08:46 AM PDT

I've only been playing for a week. I've reached Captain, but I've been winging it the whole time. I have a lot of questions and I'm hoping you guys can help me out.

    1. Gear drops.
      1. Which is more important when replacing gear on my ship or character: the Mark, the stats, or the quality?
      2. What should I do with obsolete gear: salvage or recycle for EC?
      3. Corrolary: What the heck do I do with salvage?
    2. Fleets.
      1. As a relatively new character, is it worthwhile to join a fleet?
      2. What are the benefits of joining a fleet, if I choose to do so?
      3. How do I join a fleet, if I choose to do so?
    3. Seven of Nine.
      1. At what level should you be doing Morality Part 2? (The Borg Sphere camps the respawn point and I can't complete it.)
      2. How do I get this woman to leave me alone? She hails me every time I enter a zone. I don't want to do this mission until I'm strong enough to complete it.
    4. Task Force Operations.
      1. Does it matter which reward type I select at the end? Is any specific type better than the others? I've been selecting Fleet Marks, because I don't know the difference between all the different types, but I'm not a member of a fleet.
    5. Keybinds.
      1. I set up a keybind to execute all powers in tray 10. This tray contains all my weapons. However, it does not appear to work when I have a target selected and I'm in range. The keybind is as follows:

     space "+STOTrayExecByTray 9 0 $$ +STOTrayExecByTray 9 1 $$ +STOTrayExecByTray 9 2 $$ +STOTrayExecByTray 9 3 $$ +STOTrayExecByTray 9 4 $$ +STOTrayExecByTray 9 5 $$ +STOTrayExecByTray 9 6 $$ +STOTrayExecByTray 9 7 $$ +STOTrayExecByTray 9 8 $$ $$ +STOTrayExecByTray 9 9"

Any idea why this is not working? It only appears to work when I right-click all the powers in the tray, which is disheartening.

That'll do for now. Thank you very much for all your help!

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 10:38 AM PDT

Where can you get old T1-T4 ships for Dilithium?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 09:49 AM PDT

Basically, according to this; https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11394603-purchase-t1-t4-ships-with-dilithium%21 you can buy the old T1-T4 ships that used to cost Zen for Dilithium now, in the PC version of the game.

But when I go to the person to acquire ships... they're just not there. I've looked and looked through the entire list-- but nothing.

Am I missing some step? Or am I just dumb? Am I going to the wrong place to purchase these ships?

Section 31 Intel Science Destroyer - Tactical Mode Bug

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 04:13 AM PDT

The ability for me to toggle between Tactical and Science mode seems to be broken when in a match: switching to Tactical but unable to switch back into science mode, yet it works just fine when I'm chilling in over Earth... I'm stunned this is an issue, over a year since it's release. Am I missing something here or is just this one of the thousands of bugs this game is riddled with?
