Devs, PLEASE... no more omega molecules on DS9 ground for the daily stabilization quest. Posted: 11 Feb 2020 07:04 AM PST It is such a PITA to find anything on DS9 ground. Even using your tricorder/scan, it is problematic. I run around that place looking and looking and looking... ...usually finding it randomly. Even when standing over the molecule, the tricorder/scan function points in another direction. Please stick to DS9 space or... literally any other ground location. [link] [comments]

Discounting Admiralty, The Basic Legend Bundle is the Best Deal STO Has Ever Had Posted: 11 Feb 2020 07:16 AM PST Now that we know the complete contents of the Legend bundle, it is a matter of some simple math to calculate its value. Though we will have to make some assumptions (which are listed below), I will generally be making the more conservative choices. The reason is that if less conservative assumptions are made, the value of the pack skyrockets so quickly that there is little basis for comparison at all. It is also worth mentioning that the best deal prior to this was likely the Gamma Vanguard bundle, which has a base purchase price of 15,000 Zen but is regularly discounted to 12,000 Zen. By my calculations, the pack contains 37,500 Zen worth of items (using the assumptions below and the three tech upgrades to round up to the nearest 500). This means that the discount offered when the Gamma Vanguard pack is on sale is about 68.0%. In terms of discount, this is what the Legend bundle is competing with--especially considering the respective price points. Assumptions being made in this math are the following:
As a reminder, here are the costs of each tier of ship in Zen:
And here is a list of the skins, consoles, and traits included in the pack besides the Legendary ships themselves: Defiant/Galaxy/Intrepid (each):
Kelvin Constitution/Discovery Constitution/NX (each):
Odyssey:
Sovereign:
Crossfield:
Connie:
We can also add in the 2,500 Zen's worth of value from the ten ship slots at this point. Thus, under the above conditions, the value of the pack is 61,100 Zen. As it will initially be available for 19,500 Zen, we can get a discount of: 19,500 / 61,100 = 68.1%, or slightly better than even the Gamma Vanguard Pack in the most conservative possible case. I will, however, mention this: if the player has even one other Federation-aligned character, the value of this pack absolutely skyrockets--and increases with each such character beyond that. Thus, I feel confident saying that the Legend pack is a steal at its sale price and arguably the best deal this game has ever offered. [link] [comments]
Please make Welcome to New Romulus cutscene skippable Posted: 10 Feb 2020 08:07 PM PST I'm probably shouting into an uncaring void with this, but whatever. It's not that I don't like D'tan, but I no longer need any convincing that Mol'rihan--or New Romulus in your language--will some day be as great as what we lost. I've had to hear that speech about 20 times now. Please, have mercy. EDIT: Dudes, I know how to not get it more than once per character. But once per character is once too many. New Alliance Battlecruiser Name/Registry skin bug Posted: 11 Feb 2020 06:47 AM PST So I went ahead and bought out the remaining balance to get the new alliance battlecruiser. It was given a random name and registry number, which I immediately changed both. The new name and number appear in the ship customization screen fine, however when flying out in space (and sector also) the original randomly generated name and number is still showing on the skin. About buying the Legendary Pack Posted: 11 Feb 2020 01:27 AM PST Now that all ten Legendary ships have been released, I want to get a good picture of the community's thoughts about buying it when it was first announced, compared to now. For those who were not going to buy it, or who were against the pack because of its price, value, etc, but are planning on buying it now, what changed? Did you realise that the pack had more (subjective) value than you originally thought, now that you've seen the ships? Did the skins or traits make you switch? Is it the nostalgia factor of the hero ships? And for those who are not going to buy it, why not? Is it the price or value? Do you simply not want the ships, or are not happy with the skins, stats, or traits? Is there anyone that was planning on buying the pack, but has now decided against it? Personally, I'm still on the fence. I love every ship and every new skin on the pack, and considering the only Zen ships I have are the Yorktown and Sojourner, this pack is has a pretty good value for me. However, I do have to consider the price, and that I don't have a lot of time to play, so I won't get around to making ten new alts for each ship for quite a while. [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Feb 2020 10:35 AM PST As someone who just started playing PS4 within the last week should I bother doing the Events? Or would I just be getting in the way? Also is getting into a fleet all that useful for me at this stage or is that more of an endgame thing? [link] [comments]
Regarding the ship slots in the bundle Posted: 11 Feb 2020 09:35 AM PST I know the 10 ship slots in the bundles are once per account but can they be claimed one at a time? I'm not likely to need all at once on one toon, it would make more sense to be able to claim them individually as I need them. [link] [comments]
Ps4 players, what ship from the event are you grabbing? Posted: 11 Feb 2020 08:23 AM PST We should be seeing the console free ships flowing into ESD shortly. What you you grabbing and what do you expect to be the go to reward for this event? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Feb 2020 07:24 AM PST I have a question regarding the Experience Pools. I have some 150,000 Experience Bonus Pools from some old giveaway and I was wondering if there were any downsides to selling them on the exchange. Since I already am Fleet Admiral, the bonus pools would have no function, right? I do not have an account bank so I cant transfer the items to a lesser rank character. [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Feb 2020 11:57 AM PST I have seen a lot of people saying that the cost is too high or that they want the bundle broken up, but that is unlikely to change anytime soon. They likely looked at a lot of purchase data and didn't pick the price out of a hat, so yelling at the developers and community manager on here and twitter is unlikely to make a dent. If you want the Legendary Ship Bundle, then the best thing to do is to start figuring out how to acquire the Legendary Bundle long term. I did this originally when planning to get the Gamma Vanguard pack last year a few months after i started playing, but pivoted to the Legendary bundle while waiting for a sale after i hit 12000 zen. 30% ship sales happen in the game throughout the year, which puts the future optimal sale price at 21000 zen for the Legendary Ship Bundle. That seems painful, but we all get 8 initial character slots. Each character gets 8k dilithium refinement each day. So a basic account just starting out can get 64000 dilithium per day. Getting that dilithium is a pain, but through Ferengi and Klingon admiralty, and Contraband duty officer turn-ins, you can reliably get that dilithium in under an hour of work daily once you figure out the admiralty system and get it rolling. If you have leftover Featured TFO Commendations, use them at the start of events to get to 25k dilithium bonus daily completions during upcoming events, and build a dilithium cushion for the days where admiralty campaigns won't give you the Tour of Duty missions. Worst case scenario, the Dilithium Exchange hits its maximum of 500 dil per zen and you get 128 zen each day. At the 21000 zen price during a 30% ship sale you are looking at 164 days to get the legendary pack, if you treat dilithium claiming like the daily quests in other MMOs. Do admiralty while watching TV or browsing the web, don't dedicate your time to it alone. You can also shorten the time it will take any time you can toss 10 dollars into zen, treat that cost like a brief MMO subscription. Personally, I'm going to need 20 dollars in zen to buy it during the initial sale, but based on the enjoyment I've gotten from the game i consider that cost worth it. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you'll never get the pack because you can't throw down 200 dollars immediately, you can get it, it will just take you time and a little bit of planning. Science ships need to become the new meta for awhile. Posted: 10 Feb 2020 02:19 PM PST So I've been around on this game for awhile. I love the game, I love the world, I love the stories, I hate the naked monetization, but I appreciate the Legendary Pack's efforts to take back the hero ships from Lockbox hell. But something else I love? Science ships. I love so many of the sci ship designs. I love the Oberth. I love the Vesta. I love the Luna, and the Nova, I kinda like the deep space science vessels. I even love the freaking golf balls. LOVE THEM. But here's the thing: We get T6 versions of all the cruisers. We get T6 versions of all the escorts. Don't get me wrong, it's not like we don't get any T6 love in the science domain, but almost -none- of the classic science branch ship types have T6 representation. You've got the Intrepid, that's pretty much it. My original endgame ship was a Luna kitbash: Not happening. No Golf Balls for endgame play. No Deep Space Science Vessels, no Nova, not even an Oberth to explode against the Borg cubes. Compared to the other ship types, science is seriously hurting for the chance to play your favorite lowbie ships at max level. The devs talk about it so often it's starting to just feel like teasing. They keep mentioning how T6 novas come up every time they have an internal debate about the next ship to sell, but yet....we don't seem to, y'know, have one. There's a bunch of reasons, of course. Those 3/3 weapon configurations aren't very sexy. The cruisers have a leg up because so many iconic ships are among their numbers, and Escorts are...well... They sell very well, because they bring the deeps. There have been efforts to try and attract attention to our our downswept nacelle'd bretheren, the secondary deflectors, scout ships, etc, but they just don't seem to have made a dent. I think it's time for the devs to try something drastic. Sci ships need a buff so big, they become soundly the frontrunner for performance across the board. This needs to happen long enough to attract a reasonable number of players to the ship type and get them emotionally attached. The game needs to become sci ships online for awhile. I don't know what form this buff should take, Maybe the secondary deflector should double as a phaser lance? Maybe they should have a persistent building damage resistance debuff? Maybe they should have automatic boosts to secondary effects on their weapons? Maybe turn the sci-ship subsystem targeting inherents into toggles instead of clicks that share a cooldown with more important tac powers? I don't know how to do it, but if it doesn't happen, I honestly don't think we're ever gonna have that T6 Nova. Sci ships need to be broken (in a good way) for a little while. Do it, devs. Dooooooo iiiiiit. This concludes my TED talk. (Edit: I appreciate the responses! To clarify, I'm not saying sci is weak. I'm basically saying sci ships need a PR boost, and a buff to make them FOTM might help make them worth selling to us.) [link] [comments]
Recommendations for a Tholian Meshweaver? Posted: 11 Feb 2020 09:03 AM PST I recently got a Tholian Meshweaver out of a lockbox, and at first I was just going to hang on to it for looks. But the more I think about it the more I love the idea of a dual beam focused escort slinging blue beams everywhere with some Science weirdness on top of that. It's just so not like the other escort/raiders I've played and I love it. I think I have my BOff and ship equipment figured out for the most part, but I do still have some questions for anyone who is already playing one. Do you run any projectiles, or all beams all the time? I'm currently planning to have a Chronotron torpedo. What Captain? I was leaning Science, but think the BOffs will have that covered. So now I'm thinking Engineer for Miracle Worker and Shield Frequency. What route of ships do you suggest leveling to get a feel for it? The Meshweaver almost seems more like the low level offensive science ships than an escort. [link] [comments] |
