New Warp Speed Record : 139.95 Warp Factor!

Breaking News: a Romulan Captain ([Vavlak@cmd.Maverik](mailto:Vavlak@cmd.Maverik)) has risked his entire crew and ship to attempt a Warp Speed Record. Fortunately his ship's nacelles did not tear off as his chief engineer insisted they would and a new warp speed record was reached! Warp 139.95.

I would like to thank James@jozo07 and Elixia@erik#8299 for supplying Diplomatic Immunity and Raiding Party respectively which made this possible.

I have a challenge for anybody at the end!

You can legitimately initiate handbrake turns at warp 99 as your slipstream turn rate is so absurdly high with this setup from the Chroniton Slipstream, its the best thing in this game to out turn people at warp at warp 99 :')

If any captain wishes to re-create this pointless feat then here is the recipe:

    • Optional: Console - Engineering - Polaric Modulator (simply for the turn rate, not required for speed)
    • Diplomatic Immunity and Raiding Party Buff
    • Space Skill**:** Sector Space Travel Speed (Increases Maximum Sector Space Travel Speed By 25%) the first perk choice when 5 skill points are spent in the Science Space captain skill tree.
    • Space trait: Lead Foot
    • Starship trait: Extensively Modified Warp Core
    • Engines: Adapted M.A.C.O impulse engines Epic Mk XV (Assimilated Borg engines provide a warp speed increase, this doesn't affect transwarp, whereas the Adapted M.A.C.O and Adapted K.H.G engines provide an innate Sector Speed skill buff which does, affect transwarp, ontop of the usual [SecSpd-2] you get on any Epic rarity engines, which gives a total of +31.9 Starship Sector Speed skill).
    • Warp Core: Gamma Synergistic Overcharged Warp Core (any rarity/mark of this warp core)
    • The most important aspect: A Vesta Multi-Mission Science Vessel (any variant T5,5-U, 6 works) as long as you have the 2 piece set bonus from the Tier 5 Vesta variant consoles, Experimental Systems Set *2-piece, which grants "*Chroniton-Integrated Quantum Slipstream Drive".

This isn't the end either, I couldn't wait to attempt this, so missed 1 ingredient, Critical Success in Engineering Duty Officer Assignment: Assignment: Perform Antimatter Containment Leak Drills which grants +25 sector space travel speed skill. So anybody who wants to go a tiny bit faster than this, can and should, but as far as I'm aware nobody has gone this fast before, so I'll claim this victory in the name of speed freaks everywhere.

Edit: Ty for the gold kings <3

Star Trek Online - So Greedy, a $10 bonus is worth throwing a loyal 10 year player under the bus

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 02:46 PM PST

Over Valentines weekend, I purchased zen to buy the Legacy Pack, this was thanks to the news post by Ambassador Kael, that announced the bonus.
In this news post, it notes that steam was and is an acceptable option to receive the bonus.
I bought the zen and realized I was short by 1,000. Checked the cstore link in game (which cuts off the bonus numbers when you try to buy, but I could see the issue). I put in a ticket, and bought more, since I assumed I'd get the bonus retroactively. Instead I get messages saying how the "main page" for Arc specified that steam purchases don't get the "bulk" bonus. This was not on the news article. No where else but on the "main page" do they mention this for the event.

I have been a lifetime sub since beta, I was there through the hard times, I buy their expansions and packs and spent over 600-700$ over the course of ten years and dropped another $150 for this... and they're willing to deny my request to move this issue up to an account specialist over a $10 value Bonus... how greedy a company do you have to be for that? This is the level of loyalty they show their players. After 4 replies on the ticket, including the link to ambassador kael's news post which led me to buy the pack. They refuse to help... over an imaginary bonus for money I already spent.

At least an appeal to a higher tier of support would have eased my anger but, nope, just "this other page said so, so get lost! We have your money, we don't care!"

It's this type of stuff that reinforces why it's a mistake to support games like this. Lesson learned. 10 years, I had my fun. It's their loss.

Hope the $10 of virtual bonus cash is worth losing the customer.

    Vanity Weapon Skins (Idea)

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 08:07 PM PST

I think it would be really cool to see a weapons vanity slot that could make all your equipped ones change into a "style" that you choose. For example I really love the Kelvin Phaser red bolt looks for my Konnie but for practical purposes I equip weapons that don't match like spiral wave or other rep-weapons!

    Just an idea :)

    Non Federation Legendary ship bundle

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 10:33 PM PST

From the look of things in game a lot of people (myself included) went for the Legendary ship bundle. I very much like the bundle overall, and think a companion bundle of Non Federation ships would go over just as well. If the Devs can be convinced that this will also make them a truckload of money, what ships should be in it?

    Multiplayer Question

    Posted: 20 Feb 2020 05:37 AM PST

I've been playing STO now on and off for a few years. I have a decent captain with a decent ship. Recently, Geforce Now added STO to their playable games and with them adding this, my son can now play on his laptop.

My question boils down to multiplayer. I know I can join him on his episodes, at least from what I have read online, but am I going to gimp his XP gain being a level 65 and do the mobs level scale for both of us?

I've never played the episodes on multiplayer yet and I'm just trying to figure out if I should roll a new toon or essentially be his 'oh crap button'

    Thanks

    Hello, fellow community members.

I just got an email that I won the Bronze prize for one of those recent giveaways, which is a Fed Elite Starter Pack for the PC. Since I already have one of these I thought I'd pay it forward.

So, if you want it, post a short reply naming your favorite NPC in the game, and why they are your favorite NPC. I'll DM the winner tomorrow (Friday) morning :-)

A thought on making Carriers just a little bit more relevant.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 06:17 PM PST

Okay so I am a long time carrier captain and will probably always be one, as they are my favorite type of ship. To my current understanding, carriers are a little bit underpowered compared to their buffed counterparts, the flight deck carrier, where there are very little reasons to fly a carrier compared to a flight deck carrier because the flight deck carriers get two extra weapon slots and are generally more maneuverable than their larger brethren.

With that being said, I would like to propose a possible solution to the whole carriers being shafted. My idea is to actually have one permanent escort follow the carrier around, very similar to the Vanguard Wingmen mechanic on the Jem'hadar Vanguard ships. This idea was inspired by the fact that most modern carriers are part of fleets, and are almost always never on their own. As for the logistics, this mechanic would see an escort have the Wingmen AI but there would only be one of them and the actual escort is the Frigate exclusive pet that the carrier has, like the Jupiter would have the Callisto or the Universe would have the Cetus or the Vanguard would have the Gunboat or the Vo'quv would have a Bird of Prey. They could have special commands like a temporary taunt so the enemy would target the escort instead of the carrier or another command could be to buff the already deployed hanger pets, with the final command actually being unique to the escort itself. If the escort gets destroyed, a new one would warp in momentarily. I say this because I fly the Vanguard Carrier and I absolutely love the implementation of the Vanguard Wingmen being able to bolster my fighters.

I think this would be a good idea because it would help to slightly even the odds that big carriers would have with their smaller brethren. I don't think that a permanent escort would ever overtake the raw DPS that a flight deck carrier's two extra weapon slots give it but I do think that having one would give the carrier captain better tactical options in being able to control a battlefield, which is what carriers in real life are able to do.

Any thoughts or comments on this? I am open to criticism. I do not have anything against flight deck carriers but the way it stands, there is not much reason to fly a dedicated carrier instead of a flight deck carrier. I believe that this may begin to even things out just a little.

And if you guys want, I also have other ideas to buff carriers, such as actually giving carriers two experimental weapon slots but even I would think that is a bit unusual.

Thank you for your time, I salute you fellow carrier captains!

    Latency from Asia (South Korea)

    Posted: 20 Feb 2020 04:25 AM PST

Hi! I'm new to STO, though been a trekkie for about 2 decades now.

STO has been a blast, especially with familiar voices and characters, as well as the intermelding with the current series of Discovery and Picard!

The game overall is very enjoyable, with the exception of the latency. By default I score between 400-500ms, and with a VPN service I am able to drop that down to half, ranging between 200-250ms.

Even then though, the responsiveness is pretty lackluster (in respect to the controls). Firing at an enemy shows the appropriate animation when I do fire, but the HP update happens noticeably later, among other issues.

I was wondering if anyone is playing out of Asia or more specifically SKorea, and if so, what their ping times might be?

Or general advice on just improving ping time in general.

Firmware, drivers been updated, on a gigabit connection, freshly formatted computer, the works already done.

    Cheers!

Won it in a contest, but I'd already won it before, so the code needs to find a good home. Preference goes to a newer player in need of endgame ships.

Are there even sales for Mudds on ps4 ?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2020 02:39 AM PST

First, I really like the option to get stuff we missed on consoles at mudds.

But..I never saw a sale besides the initial sale it had when it was released.

Since I live in Switzerland (utc+1) I'm wondering if I just missed them all.

We all know that most companies don't care about timezones.

EDIT: Thx for all the answers 😊
