Just throwing it out there; Specific Ship consoles gets their own slot

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 01:47 AM PST

I'm currently at work and bored, so I started to think a little.
All ships often get an exclusive console (good or bad is whatever).

Often is it that specific console that makes the ship unique and giving the ship a gimmick (Picard manouver etc).

Often we remove those to equip consoles with Crit severity or dmg output etc .

How about give the ships exclusive slots where you put the three-part console (or one console) so we don't have to choose of being meta or just have a laugh with gimmicks.

    Misfires

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 08:33 AM PST

    Greetings!

Over the last year the lag and rubberbandig have become in STO a big problem, many people have this problem some don't the only thing I can say is that since Season 15: Age of Discovery my gaming experience is going down the drain.

As a result of this misfires happen very often like in all the time, until I changed my rotation, below is a rotation that worked for years and had no issues whatsoever at the moment however this rotation leads to 97% misfires on firing cycle abilities.

    Broken Rotation: https://i.imgur.com/bgROHxQ.png

The moment I moved the firing cycle abilities to the start of the reputations firing cycle abilities started to work again as they used to, so there seems to be that the game is calculating something wrong or overcalculating something that causes the problems.

I hope this helps the Devs u/CrypticSpartan u/Borticus-Cryptic u/ambassadorKael to solve the problems or at least this problem.

Issues with Winter Event Space Abilities

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 04:33 AM PST

Anyone else having an issue slotting or learning the new abilities Let it go, very cold in space, etc? On my main ship, the abilities are slotted fine but it appears that I cannot change the ability without losing it as it does not show up in the available ability list. Also on other bridge officers, I have the manuals but again it does not show up in the list to train them in the skills tab. Any ides whats going on? thanks

Potential leak of a new NX-version [Repost cuz I'm stupid]

So I just saw this at the ESD-Ship Requisition Officer. After not making a screenshot of Warship Voyager and the Constitution-class Phase II I didn't want this to happen again. In my opinion, it doesn't really fit slapping the Excelsior-look onto the NX-class, but I'm looking forward to the refit. Maybe it'll even be an T6. What do you all think about it?

    Legendary Bundle NX TRAIT

Holy ship Jesus. The new trait on the NX upon activating a hull heal it recharges emergency power to weapons and beam overload. That's insanely powerful.

    PSA: Klingons and KDF-Romulans can get a T5U K't'inga / D7 via T6 reps and Fleet Stores

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 01:06 AM PST

    https://sto.gamepedia.com/Fleet_K%27t%27inga_Battlecruiser_Retrofit

So a lot of the time now I'm seeing people asking why there is no D7 in the bundle. And the point stands - as it has since 2012 - that unlike its Starfleet counterpart, the FT5U is a fleet ship purchasable using fleet modules from the reputation system.

While not exactly a meta ship with its Lt Tac slot and 4/4 layout, it is a perfectly serviceable ship which can comfortably run full-A2B, mount DHCs and has a decent turn rate - making it considerably more meta than some T6 space whales. This is even more true if you have access to traits such as "Cold Hearted" or "Entwined Tactical Matrices". I am also talking from experience, having run this ship on my TOS Klingon from early 2015 until its replacement with the promo version in late 2016 - it was comfortably generating 25K DPS then, without using plasma exploders and at the point when only idiots used A2B or DHC, and I'm sure could be coaxed to far more in the current meta.

The skins are old (K't'inga is launch, D7 is from 2011) but they're still there for players who want to run the everlasting Klingon Battlecruiser. If you have a bit more budget, slap on a Kelvin Vanity Shield for a cosmetic update as per Trials and Tribble-ations.

EDIT: Upgrade tokens, rarely thought about these days, aren't free. But at 500z they're not to bad either.

So yeah she clipped though the shield wall on the right side and ended up on the other side. What is more hilarious is that a short while later Seven, Burnham and my Boff were able to jump the wall and finish Leeta off. Still this is an amusing bug.

    Advice for a clueless newbie?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 08:03 AM PST

Okay, so I know I'm more than a little late to the party, but I'm finally playing this game for the first time (on Xbox NA). I tried it once before, a few years ago, but got bored during the tutorial and moved on. But this time I powered through the tutorial and have realized that there are some pretty cool little mini-episode type missions on the other side, some of which are really cool (and full of callbacks to the various series). They really should have led with one of those. I even enjoyed one of the Discovery missions, though I'm definitely no fan of that show.

So anyway, I guess I'm looking for any advice for a newb. Anything in particular I should do or avoid early on? Pitfalls to avoid? Must-haves or must-dos? Common mistakes? Uncommon knowledge?

Also, I'm still completely lost on combat. Basically I just shoot stuff in the face and upgrade stuff when it looks like I've gotten something better. But I don't even know what most of the abilities on my ship's skillbar. I see an icon, but I don't see where to change that loadout or see descriptions of those abilities. The only one I know is the one that fires two torpedos instead of one, because I got it as a drop and actually saw its description before it went into my skillbar. I have no idea how to manage shields either, besides trying to keep my strongest side to the enemy. No clue how to boost their strength or recharge, shift power from one side to another, etc.

So any combat advice? Or anyone know how to access the ship skillbar on Xbox?

Also, should I be looking for a guild? I understand they're called "fleets" in this game? Do they help with missions and leveling stuff, or just endgame content?

Thanks in advance for any sage advice, or even any non-sage advice.

    Another Anniversary

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 02:57 PM PST

Coincidentally to STO's ten year bash, another milestone was recently reached that I felt deserved a mention:

Our own /u/tapper31 has reached a whopping 500 comics in his Star Trek-slash-Star Trek Online ongoing webcomic Attack Pattern Tuggs! Tuggs and the largely competent and loyal crew of the U.S.S. Jim Slade have spent the last 500 strips exploring the true final frontier: online web-based serial comedy. Also some drama. Or dramatic comedy. Keep blurring those genre boundaries Captain Tuggs!

I'm also kind of interested in that little teaser for something called Charlie 68 at the bottom of the main Tuggs page and the words "Coming Soon". ... Nope, that's all. Don't know anything about it. Carry on Reddit!

now that the borg have been updated, can we get a visual update on the assimilated set. It looks so weird on a 2020 ship with those visuals.

Is it better to play the lockbox version of the Konnie or the 10th anniversary version.

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 10:58 AM PST

So i plan on buying this pack because its looking more and more appealing. My question is, i already have the lockbox version of the konnie. The lockbox version is a 4/4 layout with the command abilities. New version is 5/3 with intel abilities. I don't know whether or not i should switch over to the new one because the 5/3 layout is nice. Suggestions?

Anniversary bundle theory for non Fed ships

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 10:51 AM PST

A repeat of a comment, but I have a theory the opposing ships we saw in the anniversary episode (pt2) would be released in its own pack. Wouldn't that be something?

I'd really hope they do something like that plus a Negh and change.

    Boff Weapons

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 10:38 AM PST

Hello, forgive my newness to the game. Couldn't find an answer after an initial web search. I have a Boff who I gave a weapon to. It says Lieutenant Commander required but from my understanding, that refers to your rank. The requirement is listed in red though, and on a mission, he's unarmed. What am I doing wrong?
