Posted: 18 Feb 2020 06:54 AM PST I want to give the new Alliance ship a good Klingon name. However, I don't speak the language. Best I can come up with for "hunting party" is chonghom. Can anyone who knows Klingon let me know if that works or not? Thanks. [link] [comments]

How would you rank your favorite specialization seatings for BOFFs? Posted: 18 Feb 2020 05:52 AM PST Out of the five seatings: How would you rank them? Not in terms of best or worst, necessarily, but the ones you enjoy the most to least? For me, it's probably: 1) Miracle Worker: has a good variety of skills that are more ship focused. A surprising amount of damage based abilities for an engineering seat, but also including some defensive skills you can build around too. A lot of variety, and not many skills are just 'bad.' It's a seating you can explore for a while, because of all the options. No useless one-ship attacks with bad scaling like the earlier seating releases. 2) Pilot: Piloting in STO is awkward due to the high speeds and defense scaling off that speed, and the very short range of combat. So stuff like Lock Trajectory is useful, if not equally awkward sometimes. Most Pilot abilities are sort of useful but nothing that will push an ordinary ability out of slot. Nothing terrible, nothing great. I like using AP: Lambda on fast, FaW threat tanks, and Hold Together. I wish there was an ability similar to the Turtle starship trait that let me slow down in exchange for more defense and damage, though. And Rock N Roll. I wish that was a BOFF ability. 3) Intelligence: I enjoy having Commander Intel seating just so that I can use Surgical Strikes III with Override Subsystem Safeties III. Stealth doesn't really work or have much of a point in most STO combat, especially with so many disposable enemies, which rules out most Intel abilities. I will toss in Ionic Turbulence into a Gravity Well build sometimes for the hell of it. 4) Temporal: I'd like Temporal more if Entropy was less of a pain in the ass. You need two abilities to get anything really working, and the selection isn't great. Low proc chance and disposable enemies also don't mix well. Again, best used in a Gravity Well build, for me, since it at least forces clumps of procs together so your other abilities will finally work well. Not worth the time, coincidentally. 5) Command: Summon some weak NPCs, call in some weak, non-damaging attacks, or choose from a small list of overly specific abilities. Phalanx Formation is annoying to use for everyone. Rally Point Marker doesn't mesh well with how STO's combat works, despite technically being useful. I sometimes try to get Reroute Power From Life Support working with other abilities, but as it's just a number ability with no tangible mechanic to its use, I'm not too concerned. At best, I usually toss in Subspace Interception if there's a spare seat, just so I can sometimes-maybe teleport to a (maybe) more advantageous spot. I just get absolutely nothing out of Command. If I still used my torpedo boat alt, I'd use Concentrate Firepower, but that's it. I'm not rerolling for one number ability. I went looking for older discussions like this, but couldn't find any. I'm curious which ones people think the most highly of. [link] [comments]

Ps4: got the Picard bundle. Where is the galaxy retrofit??? Posted: 18 Feb 2020 08:29 AM PST I bought the picard bundle but cannot claim the galaxy ship from the zen store. In the ships description, it says: 'required rank: finish tutorial.' I am level 5 leutnant. 20% in the klingon story line of the federation faction. I did all tutorials so far, both at the acadamy and earth star base Thx [link] [comments]

Very new to the game and very lost. Posted: 18 Feb 2020 12:31 AM PST My friend and I decided to check out STO a few days ago and now we are very lost. We picked Discovery Starfleet and did the missions up to the point where you get thrown into the future and now we don't know how to continue the story we were on. Can anyone point us in the right direction. Few other questions when we were playing tonight we were both at the star deck, but couldn't find each other and I noticed under his name it said stardeck #6 and he said mine said #7. How do we get on the same location? Also, I accidentally got rid of my science officer because it showed I was being gifted a new officer so I was going to replace him, but I accidentally picked tactical and now I have no science officer. How can I get a new one? [link] [comments]

TFO softlocking is still a devastating issue... Posted: 17 Feb 2020 04:30 PM PST Some of the games PvE ops, especially the older ones, still have bugs that will occasionally break the missions and make them impossible to complete. This means that players will have no choice but to leave if they don't decide to wait around for several minutes. That's not even the worst part of all this. STO uses a Leaver Penalty system to curb the rates of people leaving PvE ops early. If you leave before the mission ends, you get tempbanned from all TFOs for the next thirty minutes. I do not know if there are further penalities beyond that for continued infractions. What do you get when you combine these two? A mission breaks, you're forced to leave, and suddenly, you're being punished for something you have no control over. It's insane. I got softlocked in the Bug Hunt TFO (VanDerveer just stopped moving entirely) and everything just fell apart from there. I wish that STO could implement some sort of vote-based TFO ejection system. If every player, or at least a majority of them, votes to leave the mission, then the TFO is halted and each player is ejected from it without penalty. Thoughts? [link] [comments]

My Personal Ratings of Legendary Ships Posted: 17 Feb 2020 08:57 PM PST Here's my personal ratings of Legendary Ships. It is just purely personal, so be aware of that.
Rating : 96/100 Statement : Unlike original Temporal Light Cruiser, This ship features MW gimmick, so we can use powerful abilities such as Narrow Sensor Bands(NSB) and Mixed Armaments Synergy(MAS). However I'm a little-bit disappointed that it has 4/4 weapon layout and plain boff layout (3 Lt., 1 Lt. Cmdr and 1 Cmdr). Although boff layout is a little-bit inferior to original Temporal Light Cruiser, the Miracle Worker gimmick could cover the deficiency.
Rating : 89/100 Statement : Almost same as MW Flight Deck Carrier, but the specialist gimmick has been changed to Temporal. However considering that most of Temporal Operative boff abilities are having powerful synergy with science vessels, it is somewhat insufficient but acceptable personally. Still, she is great ship since we can unlock Advanced Phaser/Disruptor weapons and Tactical Flyer Squad hangar pets.
Rating : 92/100 Statement : Very offensive version, comparing with original Kelvin Timeline Heavy Command Cruiser. It is expected to make huge firepower since it has 5/3 weapon layout and could equip DC/DHC. Also it has Intel gimmick so we could use Override Subsystem Safeties. But the Hull amount is a little-bit lower than original, so survivability is a little-bit vulnerable to heavy burst dmg attacks.
Rating : 88/100 Statement : Original Crossfield-class was actually "Science Spearhead"(I prefer old term "Science Vanguard" though), so original one has 4/3 weapon layout. In contrast, this one is traditional science vessel and having 6 weapon slots. Also it has full Temporal Operative gimmick. But there is negative factor due to the fact that it cannot equip DC/DHC unlike original Crossfield. However it has 4/2 weapon layout, so a little-bit better than usual SV(Science Vessel). In addition , We can acquire and unlock the console comes from Mirror Crossfield!
Rating : 94/100 Statement : Way more powerful version of original Defiant-class. I think it could use synergy with Pilot boff abilities such as APL(Attack Pattern Lambda), as well as Cold-Hearted trait. Also, its sixth mastery, Account-Wide starship trait has wide range of utility and somehow powerful. While vulnerable survivability has been reinforced thanks to Lt.Cmdr Engineering boff seat, we cannot use GW(Gravity Well) because of lack of Lt. Cmdr Science.
Rating : 77/100 Statement : It is sad that there is little difference comparing with original T6 Andromeda-class, although I cannot deny that the brand power of Galaxy-class is very powerful. Meanwhile, full Command gimmick is applied ; easy to predict since this one is normal Cruiser. Anyway, there are all three pieces of Galaxy Set so it is positive factor.
Rating : 95/100 Statement : I think this one is the first science vessel having full MW features. So I think it would have powerful synergy with exotic/torpedo build. And we can acquire/unlock all the consoles from Intrepid class console sets as well as traits. Especially, Ablative Generator and Aero Shuttle Bay are useful. NOTE: I think Science Vessel's build should NOT exclude an energy-focused. Although SV has highest potential with exotic/torp, I have an opinion that there is also a chance to have potential with energy/exotic.
Rating : 88/100 Statement : Original NX class Refit has dual spec seats, and no gimmick due to non-spec Commander boff seat. However this one has been equipped with double temporal boff seats and full feature of Temporal Ops gimmick. Surprisingly this escort comes with Experimental Railgun - a weapon from Caitian Shikaris-class Escort!(Would be fixed soon so claim it while you can!) Also, I think this ship's account-wide starship trait could provide moderate synergy with BO build (Just my speculation). Still, there's negative factor due to lack of Engineering boff seats and somewhat weak survivability.
Rating : 94/100 Statement : Existing Odyssey class has been transformed into powerful Dreads , comes equipped with one hangar bay. There's also six (6) consoles! - three from T5 Odyssey series and three from T6 Odyssey series. We can use GW thanks to Lt. Cmdr Science and can use more tactical boff skills with Lt.Cmdr. Tactical boff slot and one Universal boff. But I was a little-bit sad there's no Sensor Analysis(in T5/T6 Sci Oddy) and has low maneuverability due to low base turn rate (6 deg./sec.).
Rating : 96/100 Statement : Originally, there's two versions of T6 Sovereign; Intel and Command. This one comes with MW gimmicks and dual spec seats (MW/Pilot). Also, previous Sovereigns has somewhat ambiguous boff seats so I couldn't use Sci abilities well such as Hazard Emitters. In this one, I could see they resolved that situation. We can use up to two Science boff abilities, and there are two tac boff seats of Lt.Cmdr and Lt , so we could use Beam+Torpedo or Beam only build more flexibly. Also, we can use MW abilities to max out our weapon power such as NSB or MAS. And there's three consoles from all existing previous Sovereigns, so we can use Battle Cloak on Sovereign thanks to Set Bonus! [link] [comments]
Thanks for the Legendary Bundle !! Posted: 17 Feb 2020 02:20 PM PST I got it over the weekend. And finally I can fly the Constitutions at high level. The new Defiant is one sweet killing machine! I even bought 4 slots for new characters. Just to play with these new ships. Once again many thanks!! [link] [comments]
