Star Trek Lower Decks - an apology.

Ever since Star Trek Lower Decks came out. A lot of you have said that you wanted the ship in game.

I would often post "it would make a good target" well because I think the ship was ugly.

But after watching three episodes of Lower Decks. I now understand the appeal of the ship.

And while I still think it's ugly, I am on board with the idea of having one now in game.

So apologize if I offended any of you. And IMO Lower Decks is better than STDisco and STPicard.

One of the pains in the torpedo tubes about the console versions of the game is that it's really hard to take good screenshots in game. This is primarily because you can't remove the HUD, but also the camera distance is fairly far back, even on the closest of the three defaults, to see details on small ships.

However I found out that if you plug in a USB keyboard, and use the Pg Up/Pg Down keys then you can access a "hidden" zoom level to allow for close up shots. Why they don't allow this using the controller I have no idea. It would be too close for gameplay, particularly with larger ships, but it's been useful for the beauty shots I've been trying to take for my Star Trek RPG. Of course I still need to use careful framing, and photoshop tools to remove all the HUD elements, but it's something at least.

I've tried this on the Xbox, and I presume it'll work on PS4 as well.

Scorpion fighter squadron

Does anyone know if there's supposed to be an advanced or elite version of the scorpion fighter squadron that comes with the romulan carrier? It's the only carrier without an enhanced or elite squadron option, seems a bit weird to me.

Who else is using Nvidia GeForce Now?

My "good" PC crashed a few weeks ago and I've been playing on Nvidia GeForce Now. I use my "adequate" laptop to access their servers then launch thru Steam. Not a bad experience. There are limits that make me want to get my rig fixed or replaced but at least I can play the summer event.

Hey all,

I was just browsing the STO Wiki when I found this older idea from cryptic. It got me thinking, "The Romulans and Jem'Hadar have Reputations(New Romulus and Gamma Task Force), Why don't the Federation and the KDF have obvious ones?"

Long-term goal of Reputation System: KDF/FED/ROM-specific reputation factions that function as voting system in which the players decide which project to fund, thereby influencing the general direction of their whole faction (e.g. which fleet ships are going to be released next).

I think the second half would be hard to implement, but I'm fully on board with Klingon and Federation reputations. Task Force Omega just doesn't do it for me, given that it revolves around the Borg.

Is it just me or do we have the boni for TOD missons permanently now ?

Since it runs since 2 weeks iirc. And the banner says it runs from 01.01 -01.01 (what was the same when phoenix got perma).

ENT/NX-01 weapons

I'm just finishing off an ENT themed character and I've ended up using the Krieger disruptor weapons on my ships as they seem to approximate the pinkish glow on the phasers in the show better. Are there any better ground weapons that suit the theme or are the Krieger disruptor things the closest we'll get to phase pistols and phase rifles?

It's a shame the DSC phaser rifles don't fire blue bolts or they'd be a good stand-in for the MACO rifles.

I know Tac can do way better and I do have Tac toons so please don't give that advice :)

I tried use BO, FAW+Kemo3, but still can't get over 100k in ISA, and I got decent all-gold pieces so I figure maybe I shouldn't build it like a Tac toon loadout. Not really asking to improve my specific build, just wondering if there's another direction to go. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks!
