Why can't you get to the lower levels of your ship on Console STO? Posted: 15 Mar 2020 06:12 AM PDT In STO, when you go into the turbolift on your bridge, you're supposed to be able to go down to the lower levels of the ship, to the mess hall and such; however, it does not work on console for Federation (Except TOS ships) or Klingon ships, but it does for Romulan. Why can't we go down there, and, more importantly, why doesn't the Discovery ship bridge not have a Ready room? [link] [comments]

If you're also into Star Wars, here's a video/breakdown of my Sith(ish) ground build! :D Posted: 15 Mar 2020 01:56 AM PDT I posted this in r/STObuilds but I also wanted to share it here for those who might otherwise miss it. I've been playing around with this build quite a bit recently and I've honestly had some of the most fun I've ever had on the ground with it. The cool thing is that the core abilities all come from universal kit modules, so you can run this build on any profession, be it TAC, SCI, or ENG. I'd certainly recommend playing this on a TAC captain, but you can make this work regardless of your specialty. The build is, obviously, focused around saber combat. The reason I don't use Nanopulse Bat'leth's is because, sadly, they don't have a fraction of the lunge range that normal swords do. This feature is incredibly helpful for hitting enemies on the move. Plus, Nanopulse Batleths can't be upgraded to Mk XV like the Tholian Lobi sword can. If you want to know what gear and skills I'm running, here's a breakdown! As you can see, this build leaves you in a pretty great place with overall health, especially if you max out your upgrades the armor and shield. The main reason I run two-piece Discovery rep though is because of the huge boost to run speed that really helps close the distance for melee kills quickly. I also have my Endeavor run speed bonus maxed out. Kit Module 1 - Debilitating Shockwave This is really helpful for two reasons - first is the knockback and AoE damage, second - and most important - is that it drastically reduces enemy melee damage resistance, allowing your sword of choice to do far more damage. Feels like one big Force Push! Love this one. I love pairing this with a Death Spinner throw. Hold the enemy in place and then slice em' with your spinner. You can also just wail on enemies with your sword while they're stuck. And trust me, they'll be stuck for a while. Kit Module 3 - Bio-Essence Transfer This is my pseudo-Force choke. Great thing is the insane lunge that allows you to close huge distances rapidly. Use this to lunge into a group of enemies quickly, kill your victim and then start slashing away at the rest. You can even use the lunge to climb up onto ledges to get enemies who have the high ground on you! Kit Module 4 - Chain Conduit Capacitor It's AoE Force lightning. Nothing more too it. Really great for cleaning up a herd of low-health enemies fast. Kit Module 5 - Death Spinner Throw The only thing I don't absolutely love about this ability is how narrow the damage window is. You have to be precise with your throw otherwise it'll just be a waste. You can even see me miss a couple of times in the video. Pairing this up with Stasis Bubble as I mentioned can help solve that problem if you enemy won't hold still. As I said, these modules are all Universal so any captain of any career track can use this build, but here's my frame if anyone's curious. I use these two for the run speed bonus. Run speed is really great for an efficient melee build. The less time you spend chasing enemies and NOT swinging your sword, the better. I love to use this one because even without a Nanopulse Bat'leth, you can still get lightsaber-ish glows from this sword as it absorbs damage. Other good swords to use are the Emperor's Sword (also from the Lobi Store), or any Tsunkatse Falchion or Nausicaan Tegolar Sword. All of those have the same lunge range. This is good for two things - 1) More Force lightning aesthetic like the Chain Conduit Capacitor and 2) Reliable ranged weapon with a great AoE secondary, just in case your sword can't reach what you're trying to kill. The three to pay attention to are the Security officers that buff melee crit chance and severity. Really helpful. More run speed, less time wasted running to your target. Rep Trait - Close Quarters Combatant Melee damage and run speed both boosted. Highly recommend. Rep Trait - Physical Conditioning One last boost to run speed. Lastly, I recommend using the Command/Commando specializations - Commando for the run speed and hitpoint boosts, Commando for the hitpoint boosts and bonus damage, particularly with the Follow Through ability, which buffs your melee damage for 3 seconds after sprinting. Feel free to PM me with any questions about this! Cheers and have fun! :) [link] [comments]

Female photonic/android bridge officers? Posted: 15 Mar 2020 07:57 AM PDT Hello, I'm looking to add another photonic boff to my ground crew. However I like having all my crew in the same/similar uniform. Are there any female customisable boffs that are preferably photonic or androids? I've had a search and can't find anything concrete. Thanks [link] [comments]
Risian corvette - not Risian Corvette? Posted: 15 Mar 2020 09:51 AM PDT So.. is the reason it's Risian 'corvette' and not Risian capitol-c-Corvette because of a Corvette name trademark issue? It makes my eye twitch every time I see it 😵 [link] [comments]

Random Question: are resistances supposed to be able to go negative? Posted: 15 Mar 2020 12:20 AM PDT I thought I remembered a while ago that resistances are not supposed to go negative. Is that still true? [link] [comments]
New to STO, confused what to do now Posted: 14 Mar 2020 11:27 PM PDT So I've been playing STO for a little bit. I'm a Lieutenant and got my second ship. I went with the escort ship. Which I really like how it looks. I also have my favorite uniform. The question is, what do I do now. I know I have lots of story to play through still but what am I working for. Besides the defiant there isn't a ship i really want. So what do I work for. Other MMOs like SWTOR has housing, and an extremely interesting story that is replayable and different. It keeps me motivated to play. And while I love star trek, the lore, the world, everything, I just don't know what is there now to work for. Some direction would be greatly appreciated 😊 [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Mar 2020 10:43 PM PDT I dont know if I'm posting in the right place, but heres my question. I have an Elgato Stream Deck XL. I wanted to know if there is a way to use the Hotkey function to send key presses fora ctivating things in the trays or opening Inventory, Status, etc. to STO in lieu of using the actual keyboard. I tried it and it didnt seem to work. Do I need a third party application? [link] [comments]
Bridge Officer question (fairly new) Posted: 14 Mar 2020 10:39 PM PDT I'm looking to tune up my bridge officers since I've neglected them a bit. I've gotten to lv65 and all my officers have been lvl up to their max. I managed to grind reputations to get the Borg and Voth Sci officers. What's the the highest rank weapon/armor/shield I can give them? Since they're all Commanders, can I not give them weapons higher than rank VI ? Or can I give them something higher, like my rank XI weapons? Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
Is it too late to get the Star Trek: Picard stafleet uniform? Posted: 14 Mar 2020 09:40 PM PDT I've been loving Star Trek: Picard so far and I just found out that uniforms from the show were given out for the 10th anniversary of the game. I was really looking forward to getting back into the game with the new uniforms, but it looks like I must have missed the event completely. Is there anyway to get the uniform now, or did I miss out on the only opportunity? [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Mar 2020 05:23 PM PDT Is there anyway to find my EPG rating on console like there is on pc? I'm trying to make my own build and it's tricky when I don't know the exact stat and whatnot [link] [comments] |
