My Top Quality of Life Improvement Wishes

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 10:57 AM PDT

Get Rid of Loot Dialogs/Rolling and just auto assign loot. It has become annoyingly distracting having to deal with what is mostly vendor/salvage loot while I am attempting to play the game, and it is too easy to get out of range and then get stuck with a open loot dialog screen that you then need to cancel out of. Some games put random loot directly into your bags with a little discreet message in the corner. If STO did this it would greatly up my enjoyment.

And on the same loot topic, put stuff into overflow during a mission instead of making me have to stop and screw around with bag space. Don't let me queue again until I clean it out if you are afraid of overflow being exploited.

Better filters/sorting for Admiralty. Let me sort high to low, low to high by each role stat. Let me set a minimum value for each role stat. Let me set a value range for each role stat. Let me sort/search by special ability.

Duty Officer Mission finder. Let me search missions from all over, with options for CXP type and for other rewards types. I would fly to a mission location if I knew there was something worthwhile when I get there, but I am not very interested in just flying around and hoping I'll get lucky, which is just wasting my limited play time. This would make it feel like actual missions from command as well. I'd love to be able to target turret types, or BOFF recruitments, or DOFF recruitment, or target mission types I need more CXP in.

Set default visual status to off for equipment. Whenever I switch ships the first thing I need to do is go through and turn off deflector, shields, engine, and Borg console visuals. Please give me an option to just default equipped gear visuals to off. And I have tried using the Visuals, but that doesn't give me the look I want.

Matching weapon animations. Weapon types over time have gone rainbow all on their own. I want my builds to match.

Some way to improve BOFFs. It would be nice to have loyalty to my early BOFFs and be able to improve their quality and change their traits in some way.

Have dialogs display the boffs based on who I have slotted for department heads, not who I had to slot on my ship seats because of traits.

And less a quality of life and more just for fun, I would love my hangar pets, Delta Alliance Beacon, and Fleet Support to match my ships visuals. As a Romulan Fleet Admiral it would make it feel more like they were part of my fleet and that would feel pretty cool.

I'd love to see what changes others would like to see as well.

    So, about saucers

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 02:16 AM PDT

All this rumble about the Legendary Galx had me thinking about the Saucer Separation thing, as I have a Fleet Yamato. I know the saucer as a pet is quite bad in general, but how much exactly?

According to the wiki it gets buffed by the Coordination Protocols Skil, but not by the Specializations. What I don't see anywhere is what weapons does it have, or if traits affect it (SAD, Wing Commander, etc).

I don't use the console often, to be honest, but with the Experimental Upgrade it could be an option so the ship doesn't move like a George and Gracie. Any info on its capabilities would be appreciated!

Edit: I still remember a few years ago, first thing the saucer would do upon separating would be firing the "shotgun" lance in the empty space... At least that is fixed now.

What to do while waiting on rep...

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 01:15 AM PDT

I'm currently a day or two away from finishing my Omeg rep. I finished my New romulus rep but the whole rep system is a grind and it's mixed in with a few months or less, give or take, of leveling from tier to tier. I can't find myself being entertained while waiting. Is there anything (other than the event(s)) that I can do to keep myself interested In this game and not be bored? (While also being "productive")

EDIT:I realized I spelled "Omega" as "Omeg" sorry

Star Trek online on Playstation 5?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 01:00 AM PDT

Guys i just wondering can I still play in Star Trek Online on PS5 after it will be released?

I was confused by newly added description in PS store on console saying something about limited support of this game, also there was a link to http://playstation.com/bc for further reading.

I searched forum and other official sources, but not a word about new gen consoles.

    //dream mode on

Ok It will be really great if they add native 4k resolution with more detailed graphics settings for new gen consoles. Can it be so guys? Please say yes :))

and shh about total revamp of game engine, coz this game is so deep and replayable great, it needs only modern graphics and animations update to deliver fun in 2020.

    //dream mode off

Request for Cryptic: Klingon variants of the Lower Decks duty officers

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 02:37 PM PDT

These duty officers have some unique and interesting abilities. It's a shame to not have Klingon variants during the Year of the Klingon. The characters could be:

    • JG Hertlzer's character in episode 6, the Drookmani captain
    • Klingon General K'orin from episode 2
    • Vindicta?
    • Clar from episode 8. Even though he's a nice guy, his appearance feels appropriate for this.

Any other suggestions for characters to use?

[Wishful Thinking] Starfleet Battles Ship + Set Pieces

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 12:08 PM PDT

This is an idea I've had kicking around in my head for days. It's based off the Akula-class and Okinawa-class from the Starfleet Battles/Starfleet Command legacy.

Yes, yes, I know, Licensing issues. This is wishful thinking. Anyway, this idea hinges on a three-part set, spread across the two starships, comprising two consoles and an Experimental Weapon. All are designed to work very tightly together, so to get maximum utility out of this you will need an Experimental Weapon slot, but you can get utility out of the consoles without it. The set hinges upon a standoff weapon: the Drone.

    Drones

A drone is basically the mobility systems of a small craft mated to the warhead of a torpedo mine. Once loosed they are absolutely inexorable; only the drone being destroyed or being run out of fuel will stop them. As with High-Yield Torpedoes, if they fail to impact their target they will acquire another target, and they can be screwed with by the things that screw with High-Yield Torpedoes. Their direct destructive potential is unimpressive; what is impressive is that these are standoff weapons that can be fired and will target/retarget foes up to 15km distance. A "pressure" weapon to be sure, they're easily shot down, even with the addition of a small shield generator and the fact that as they're considered small craft, shots at them have a 75% miss chance.

Drones (before set bonuses) are slow (in baseline mode, they're as fast as a mine which is tracking to impact), vulnerable, have approximately the impact of a photon torpedo and 20% shield penetration. However, if the target has a weak shield facing, they will try to impact upon it, so they have that going for it.

Which brings me to the Experimental Weapon and the consoles that support them:

    Experimental Weapon: Drone Launcher

A Drone Launcher fires a salvo of two (2) drones every fifteen seconds, or 8 drones/minute. The launcher has weapon tags, and can be reverse-engineered. At Ultra-Rare and Epic quality upgrades, it gains a [Pen] tag, meaning that they can gain [Pen]×2.

    Console: Large Drone Battery

A large drone battery that takes a long time to reload, the Large Drone Battery fires six (6) drones all at once, and has a reload time of one minute, for 6 drones/minute. Drones launched from the Large Drone Battery inherit the weapon Mark and Quality/Quality Tags of a mounted Drone Launcher, otherwise their attributes calculate out as Mk XIV Common.

    Console: Scatterpack Shuttle

The Scatterpack Shuttle is a shuttle rigged for automatic flight, kicked out of the aft of your starship, whereupon it either flies towards your target (if you had one selected), escorts your ship (if you had nothing selected), or flies towards your friendly escort target (if you had a friendly selected). When the Scatterpack gets within 2km of a hostile target, its hull rips apart, and six (6) Drones launch towards that target. If the Scatterpack is destroyed, then 1-6 (one to six) drones survive the shuttle being shot down, and immediately target and begin engaging the nearest hostile. Drones launched from a scatterpack inherit the weapon Mark and Quality/Quality Tags of the mounted drone launcher, otherwise their attributes calculate out as Mk XIV Common.

The Scatterpack has a cooldown of one and a half minutes (90 seconds), for a potential rate of fire of 4.5 (four and a half) drones per minute. However, the console begins cooling down as soon as the scatterpack shuttle launches, and may be used again the moment the scatterpack's drones launch.

    Set Bonus

    Two-Piece

The 2-pc set bonus gives all of the player's kinetic damage, regardless the source, +20% shield pen and +10 hull pen. It also upgrades the speed of all launched drones from "as slow as a tracking mine" to "as fast as a High-Yield Destructible Torpedo."

    Three-Piece

The 3-pc set bonus causes all of the player's destructible ordnance and deployables, including but not limited to drones, high-yield torpedoes, mines, scatterpack shuttles, boarding party shuttles, deployable turrets, and suchlike and so forth, to survive anything that would have killed them with 10% hull. It also upgrades the speed of all launched drones from "as fast as a High-Yield Destructible Torpedo" to "as fast as a Photon Torpedo."

    The Ships

    Iwo Jima-Class Escort Frigate

Intended to be an oddball, the Iwo Jima is meant to share some traits with Escorts and some with Frigates; it has a 4/3/X weapon load-out, can not equip Dual or Dual Heavy cannons, is not as remotely as nimble as a proper Escort, but features the Strategic Maneuvering and Weapon Systems Efficiency Cruiser Commands, and (possibly? Not necessarily) Raider Flanking. The Iwo Jima has an Engineering-heavy Tactical focus.

Comes with a Drone Launcher in the Experimental Weapon slot.

    • Lt. Engineer/Miracle Worker seat.

    Seating and Consoles:

    • Commander Tactical Seat (it is still a 'seek out your enemies and do them harm ship)

    • Lt. Commander Engineering/Miracle Worker Seat

    • Lt. Commander Science/Pilot Seat

    • Lt. Universal Seat

    • Ensign Universal Seat

    • Devices: 3

    • Engineering Consoles: 4

    • Science Consoles: 2

    • Tactical Consoles: 4

    Universal Console: Scatterpack Shuttle

    Trait: Damn the Torpedoes! Fire!

Upon activating any Torpedo firing mode (including oddballs such as the Photonic Shockwave Torpedo granted by the Nadeon Detonator console), immediately clear any torpedo cooldowns and make torpedoes available to fire again. Can happen at most once every twenty seconds.

    Fleet Version/Alternate Skin: Okinawa-class.

Standard Fleet-tier upgrade, grants an additional Science console and some hull/shields.

    Tiburon-class Miracle Worker Destroyer

The Tiburon is an extreme oddball with its vertical warp nacelle layout. Miracle Worker is an odd choice for a ship so (relatively) small, but it's equipped with capacious bays for ingenious engineers to go to work in. It has a 4/3/X weapon layout and an Engineering-heavy Tactical focus.

Comes with a Drone Launcher in the Experimental Weapons slot.

    Seating and Consoles

    • Commander Tactical/Miracle Worker seat

    • Lt. Commander Engineering Seat

    • Lt. Science seat

    • Lt. Commander Universal/Miracle Worker Seat

    • Ensign Universal seat.

    • Devices: 3

    • Engineering Consoles: 4

    • Science Consoles: 2

    • Tactical Consoles: 4

    Universal Console: Large Drone Battery

    Trait: Unorthodox Equipment Integration

Causes Photonic Officer's cooldown reduction to apply to all miscellaneous clicky abilities not granted by Ship Devices, Captain Abilities, or Bridge Officer abilities: this includes such things as set bonus-granted clicky powers, console-granted clicky powers, ship-integrated clicky powers (such as a Galaxy-X Dreadnought's Phaser Lance), and so forth and so on.

    Fleet Version/Alternate Skin: Akula-class

Standard Fleet upgrades apply: gains an additional Science console and some hull/shield points.

Anyway, yeah. Ships of my dreams. Obviously not on-point for DEEPSMETA since they're not 5/2s with 5 Tactical console slots, but I really just want to fill the skies with inexorably-oncoming homing drones.

And I just effing love that Akula-class. Like, someone made an MSD for one, and that's my desktop wallpaper. :D (Thanks again for linking me to that, Tuskin.)

How to get rid of Elachi stalkers?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 07:25 AM PDT

I removed the ability in space, removed the whole Revolutionary (bs) space-gear and deleted it afterwards, but these freaks still constantly spawn on the ground. Relogging doesn't help either. It's hardly comfortable that I only ruined a (disposable) trader and a proud Klingon character so far who sadly can't use his bathlet against this pest. Fun is over!
