Does it increase the damage of all weapon types simply by virtue of any other weapon type firing during the duration or does it only increase the damage of weapon types other than the one the player manually activates first after triggering the ability? Multiple ships of same class on one character Posted: 24 Oct 2020 03:44 AM PDT Is there some kind of technical reason why we can't redeem multiple of the same C-store ships on a single character ? I mainly ask because I like having every version of the enterprise that has appeared on screen on my main. I have the legendary bundle which covers most of them but my problem comes up when I want both the TOS Enterprise and the refit/enterprise-a enterprise. Because I can't redeem 2 copies of the legendary miracle worker constitution i always have to go to the ship customization and switch them out when I want to fly one or the other . I assume there is no workaround for this but it would be nice if cryptic at the very least let loadouts change customization options as well instead of just vanity items. [link] [comments] | ||
Any workarounds for not receiving Tier 5 Reputation rewards? Posted: 24 Oct 2020 07:56 AM PDT Pretty much says it in the title. I got to Tier 5 in Competitive Wargames, and... nothing. No slew of marks and dilithium, no pop up window, nothing. Is there a workaround for this, or something I can do apart from jumping through tech support's hoops for an empty apology? EDIT: Finally! I tried logging out and back in, changing maps, instances, etc, etc, but I guess it was just on a reeeaalllly slow delay. Sorry to trouble you all; thank you for the replies! Demorecord and STO Demo Launcher issues Posted: 24 Oct 2020 08:35 AM PDT Hi guys, So I thought I'd give demorecord and the sto demo launcher a try. I used Demorecord to grab a few seconds of game footage to test. Played it back with GameClient.exe -demoplay test1.demo (imaginatively titled I know :-) ). This worked fine (need to work on camera position more). However when opening the updated version of Demo Launcher. I changed paths to the x64 directory. However when I try and open the test file it brings up an Invalid File Error Message with This is not a valid demo file. The editor will now close, to prevent crashes or file corruption. I can upload screenshots of the folder structure I have if needed. Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong? [link] [comments] | ||
Superior Area Denial and Fighter Squadrons: It is not just the AI and equipment Posted: 24 Oct 2020 12:49 AM PDT I tested a bit with To'Duj fighter squadrons, especially Elite vs regular ones, in combination with the Superior Area Denial trait. It is an open secret at this point that regular ones vastly (!) outperform the Elite ones under such circumstances - we are talking about roughly 2 to 3.5 times as much damage per second from regular ones than from Elite! (For those who don't know: The trait "Superior Area Denial" grants both "Cannon Scatter Volley I" and "Beam Fire At Will I" to your hangar pets if you activate any FAW oder CSV ability on the carrier, and also add a damage resistance rating debuff to the carrier's energy weapons upon that activation. For Klingon-aligned characters, it is rather cheaply available on the Exchange.) Commonly, we attribute this to the fact that Elites have more narrow-arced weapons, and the AI, being unable to point its ships properly, not using the weapons to their fullest potential - while the regular ones only use "Micropulse cannons", which are supposedly turrets, which are obviously a lot easier to point. But looking at the logs in detail, that assumption does not seem to be true. The Elite To'DuJ squadrons do have a disruptor turret. Its "Cannon Scatter Volley I (CSV)", however, does only a fraction of the additional damage that the regular squadron's Scatter Volley provides. The regular ones' CSV adds five times the unbuffed base damage of their weapons, the Elites' turrets CSV only adds about 80% of the base value. Looking at the battlespace during combat, it does seem to look as if the regular squadrons, under the effect of CSV, have ALL their fighters firing, while the elite ones are a little more cautious in their attack runs, and have only some fighters per squadron actually attacking. Without CSV, ALL squadrons seem to be acting like that, with one lead ship firing, and the others providing cover or something (presumeably to keep the squadrons in line with the single fighters). That may be just an optical glitch, but it could explain this vast difference in performance. I must conclude that there is a bug at work here, and that the regular fighter squadrons are NOT working as intended under the effect of Superior Area Denial. [link] [comments] | ||
Has anyone else noticed an incredible reduction in lag? I finally have! Posted: 23 Oct 2020 11:24 AM PDT I was waiting to post something like this until I had played for a significant amount of time, enough to make sure it wasn't just my imagination, enough to go to each of the areas where it used to be really bad, but it seems like the amount of lag and rubberbanding has been significantly reduced. It's still there, of course, but it's something which happens once in a while now instead of once a minute. I'm not getting half my abilities on a glitched cooldown half the time I activate them. I'm not warping backwards half the time I start sprinting or turning my ship. The game doesn't freeze regularly anymore. I had heard they were deploying some kind of fix for this issue in October, and it seems like they either did exactly that and it worked or something else has changed and fixed the problem for me. Since it's been giving me so much god damn grief for a long time, I'm very happy to see the game be playable again, and I hope more people are experiencing this. Hit 65 while playing the campaign - the scaling and equipment gap Posted: 23 Oct 2020 05:40 PM PDT Hi all, I'm a brand new player enjoying the storylines, and just hit 65 while doing Episodes and some in-between Patrols to test out new weapons and abilities. I'm now at the Delta Quadrant storyline and noticed the scaling resulted in my ship (a Kar'Fi carrier because it looks neat) going from weak but serviceable to getting destroyed in 2-3 hits by most story mission enemies. After some reading I understood that a ship with all Very Rare XII equipment from previous storyline rewards is rendered essentially worthless the closer you get to 65, and that you want to go for XV equipment instead. The problem is that anything between XII and XV doesn't seem to drop (all my mission rewards and random loot containers still spawn XII gear), and the lowest-rarity gear pieces on the Exchange are several million EC. I would like to finish the remaining story missions - what's my best bet to pick up workable gear that lets me continue the storyline? Whatever is easiest obviously doesn't need to be end-game worthy and I understand there's a lot of resource and time investment involved in obtaining high-tier items; I just need to trade my clown suit for one with a working warranty.
