i cant believe im finally a captain now

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 09:03 PM PDT

Guys I'm sorry if this isn't appropriate for this Reddit but I was recommended to post here, I have some codes for 50% off a Tier 6 ship to give away. I know nothing about the game or Star Trek but I have a few codes to give away, completely free to anyone who wants them. Appear to be PC only codes.

Sensor-linked and Advanced Phaser - which one should I choose?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 06:54 AM PDT

They are both very powerful phasers, and I need to choose one for my disco toon.

I got a spare set of sensor-linked at Mk XIV gold (got them when disco box was running), which I'm no longer using since I turned to space magic instead. And a set of advanced phaser at Mk XV UR, which were upgraded last upgrade weekend.

Their visuals both fit great on my ship, so what I wanna know is, which one is a better weapon, and which one should I choose given my situation?

    Thanks for your help.

The Classified Section31 two-nacelled ship class name has been revealed as:

Do you think science carriers will be buffed soon?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 10:10 AM PDT

With the recent FDC buff science carriers are hilariously obsolete. Being 3/3 with 2 hangar bays, they lag behind dreadnaught carriers (4/3) and FDCs (4/4). Despite being science focused, sci carriers do NOT have secondary deflectors. A science dreadnaught has both a secondary deflector and 4/3 while also having a single hangar bay.

To top it all off, science carriers are the slowest turning class of ships in the game.

I'd be in favor of making science carriers 4/3 and giving them a secondary deflector. If they stay 3/3, they should get a secondary deflector and perhaps even a third hangar bay.

What do you think would be a reasonable buff to science carriers?

I find it very strange that only a few BOFF species in this game have Space Traits, and that only about half of them are any good - especially since this game is really all about space combat.

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 09:40 AM PDT

For example, I just opened up a Holographic Loriss Boff, and she has all ground traits? What? Why doesn't a Vorta Commander have like, Superior Leadership, or something?

And why don't Klingons have a single space trait? It's very strange.

Cold War needs to be made a main mission arc again.

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 04:13 PM PDT

    Because of the Preservers.

If you play the main missions without playing Cold War, when you head to the Preserver Archive during the Iconian War, it creates a massive hole in the storytelling because the archive is discovered in the first place during the Cold War arc.

During the Iconian War, the Iconians nuke the planet and kill all the Preservers which only adds to the "Should I know what this is?" if you haven't played Cold War.

Hot take: Sometimes for story reasons players should "lose" missions

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 07:59 PM PDT

I know not everyone is into STO for the narrative but sometimes it would make the experience feel more real if despite their best efforts missions ended in failure and the story was forced to deal with that.

    Discuss.

Sutherland or Intrepid for an exotic damage science build?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 07:15 AM PDT

I own a t6 version of the sutherland and t5 intrepid both c store but don't know which to use which is a better option. I want to use science damage abilities and maybe one or two beams and mostly torpedoes as weapons. Any advice.

    V'Ger TFO (idea)

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 09:13 PM PDT

    V'Ger TFO (idea)

So after playing the The Breach TFO would it not be cool to have a version where you need to confront V'Ger?

Part 1: Strafe, Disable, repeat, for entry

The gimmick would have to strafe the hull of V'Ger doing taking down critical subsystems while avoiding V'Ger random electric arcs. Unlike with the Voth Fortresses ships, you are mostly on rails so you cannot fly backwards, turn around or get stuck, just move forward at various speeds within a cone.) The path taken would be randomized to take you to key points on the outer hull where you need to disable V'Ger subsystem so you can get inside. Depending on how well the team is doing the strafing might need to be done a few times.

Part 2: Breaching to the core.

Once you make it inside V'Ger would be able to send digitized ships it had scanned into its data banks for you to fight.

    Part 3: Fighting the core.

Once you reach the core (room), you would enter essentially a holodeck where the background change to show the worlds V'Ger has visited. The V'Ger core is in front of you but just as you start to engage the everything goes dark and when the light comes back you have six player, the core is mimicking one of you. As you attack and V'Gers core takes damage the lights go out again and V'Ger core mimcs someone else. This repeats and as the core becomes more desperate to survive more digitized ships are sent to stop you.

    Part 4: Escape:

With the core destroyed, now you must escape, but V'Ger has one more trick in that now the exit is masked to appear to be thousands of kilometers away and though a labyrinth of exploding conduits. You must plot a path to survive by making last second decisions to choose the correct path.

    End:

Instead of V'Ger being destroyed the entire ships digitizes itself and diapers to return.

    Just an idea.
