Posted: 13 Jun 2020 06:55 PM PDT Roughly one year ago, I set out to achieve the fastest possible warp speed in the game. At the time, it was 93.22, give or take a few hundredths of a warp factor. I took some time off for a while, focused on other things, and then a friend sent me an article. A Romulan Captain (Vavlak@cmd.Maverik) was able to reach the incredible speed of Transwarp 139.95! Needless to say I was impressed and inspired. It turns out my build was nearly identical to Captain Vavlak's. Functionally we were the same, but he added an extra console for turning ability. The key to his success was the new Starship Trait: Extensively Modified Warp Core. This trait can only be acquired by reaching Tier 6 on the new Intrepid-class starship model that comes as part of the Legendary Bundle, so needless to say it was not cheap to obtain. There was one other difference in our builds, however. Vavlak admitted he was impatient and did not want to wait for a critical success on Antimatter Containment Leak Drills. I have been saving a critical success on that Duty Officer mission for months, waiting for exactly this opportunity! With the help of my good friend McAllister@taskforce124 and a KDF Captain Vedette@Fanspastic, I was able to acquire the Diplomatic Immunity and Raiding Party effects that would allow me to push my ship to the limit. The USS Infinity has reached Transwarp 148.04.
This is only technically the maximum, as you can fiddle with your ship's course mid-flight and coax a few extra points out of it. The STO Wiki shows Captain Vavlak reaching Transwarp 148.13, but averaging around the .04 mark. I want to give a big "thank you" to the two captains who helped me out by giving me the DI and RP buffs, especially McAllister@taskforce124 for also filming some nice fly-by shots for me. I may be able to load a video to this post in the future. I also want to say "thank you" to Captain Vavlak for being an inspiration to speed freaks like me who always want to push warp travel to the edge. He beat me to the punch and squeezed out a better speed than me, but I am no less proud of myself for being able to come as close to his record as I did. You can see Captain Vavlak's post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/sto/comments/fgvxlf/boldly_exiting_known_sector_space_warp_14813_new/ Details on this build:

Posted: 14 Jun 2020 08:21 AM PDT I asked this in the megathread but didn't get a response. Is there an archive of Boff appearance settings out there? I figured there would have to be for people who want to make their characters look like someone but I can't find it. I just want to upgrade Hiven and Satra to purple people but I'm having to go back and forth between Boff's in the tailor every couple options and the tailor is already so laggy that it's just taking forever. I'm on PS4 btw. I think my next step is to take screenshots and do a screens worth at a time. Just figured I'd ask first TIA [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Jun 2020 06:09 AM PDT This is the only mission left on my to do list for my fed toon and I can never get into the que due too lack of players I guess. Anyone interested in helping me clear it? I hate dropping things lol [link] [comments]
The reason I don't play on the Klingon side...I've spent a fortune on the Federation side. Posted: 13 Jun 2020 06:40 PM PDT I've bought basically every ship I like or with a useful or semi-useful trait over the years, the legendary pack, starter sets...it goes on and on. Now I'd like to play a Klink...BUT... I have very few ships, and worse yet, almost no traits on that side. I broke many ship bundles equipping my Federation characters and now I would have to rebuy ALL of those ships again (Klink versions) to get those ships and traits back. That's a lot of money to spend...on what I basically already own. They need a way to make playing "the other" faction less costly. That's the real way you get more people to play klingons, not just some upgraded content. People take costs into consideration. Some ideas... -Give people discounts on the ships they don't own from broken bundles. -Allow the purchase of a token to unlock traits account wide. I know the bean counters at Cryptic and there overlords at PWE hiss like an angry cat at the idea of giving people a financial "deal". But it is the way to balance things out. [link] [comments]

Would be nice to have usable holodecks for simple combat training simulations Posted: 13 Jun 2020 05:35 PM PDT Remember how Worf would train on the holodeck by selecting an environment, enemy types, and a difficulty? I wish we could do that. For example, maybe someone wants to select the Archer System map and fight two Borg tac cubes at once to test a new defensive strategy. Then they could end the program, call up the Qo'noS First City map, and spawn an Iconian Harbinger with a group of Swarmers. I'm not talking about full-on missions like the Foundry offered; I just think it'd be nice if two fleetmates could try to defeat a Viriosaurus Rex not only without having to clear the Dyson BZ first but also while beset by four Iconian Thralls that respawn as soon as they die. Jem’Hadar Vanguard how big of a difference? Posted: 14 Jun 2020 10:09 AM PDT I am setting at work reading STO Wiki, and was going over JH Vanguard. And I am wondering are they better than the regular Jem'Hadar? I have them (don't remember how I got them), unlocked but have never made one. My main is a regular Jem'Hadar Engineer with the KDF and uses the JHV Dreadnought Cruiser. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Jun 2020 06:02 AM PDT Anyone here have the Plasmatic Biomatter Torpedo? How does it play? Is it like the Nausicaan Torp where High Yield is slow and destructable and Spread is like any other Torp? Or is it like an actual Plasma Torp. High Yield and Spread send out destructible torps. Best looking abilities and eye candy Posted: 14 Jun 2020 01:28 AM PDT So, I'm bored with kitting my ships out to be -good- I just want eye candy and pretty stuff, What's everyone's prettiest abilities. I'll start with one which I saw but don't actually know the name of, when attacking sometimes a Spore Jumped copy of your own ship fires torpedoes, this can trigger a few times and just fills the screen. Another one is the [Console - Universal - Plasma Storm Module] Which are your favorites? [link] [comments]
So i just started a dominion playthrough and i got a question Posted: 14 Jun 2020 05:00 AM PDT I was given a ship with Very rare items on all slots and I am at rank 60. Is this permanent? Also does this mean that pretty much all level restricted features in the game are already available? [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Jun 2020 12:27 AM PDT I have seen a lot of people on the subreddit, when discussing the legendary bundle, state that it will likely come back later this year. I would like to get the bundle, the ships are really neat and I am a pretty regular Federation player. However, there are other ships from the Zen store that I would like to have. Do you think it would be better to save up dilithium to go for the legendary bundle if it comes back, or to go for the cheaper zen ships that are always available for purchase? I know this is a very niche question, but I made a vow to myself not to spend money on games that have F2P options and I want to know what others thought. LLAP [link] [comments]

Cardassian boff doff assignment Posted: 13 Jun 2020 11:49 PM PDT It's been a while since I've had these pop up. I use to get at least 1 out of the 16 toons I have. Do I need to be near deeps space 9? [link] [comments]

Posted: 14 Jun 2020 02:04 AM PDT Hey guys I'm wondering whether it's worth paying the extra credits on the exchange for epic gear or just go for the ultra rare which is over half the price, to retro fit my ship with? [link] [comments]
We can add two names to the restricted list, what’s it at now, 50 names? Posted: 13 Jun 2020 05:56 PM PDT Saavik and Valeris are both blocked out on the Rom side, which is interesting. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jun 2020 11:55 PM PDT i claimed the healthcare worker salute bundle but my boff sluts were full, how do i reclaim the boff after clearing up a space? [link] [comments] |
